"Come on, Shanny."
"We're going to be late, ladies free before 10 and I am not paying." Lima turned her lip up as I stood in her mirror, making sure my makeup was cute.
"You look cute, best." Bi said to me, coming out of the bathroom and I smiled small, doing a quick 360.
"Thank you."
"You look cute too, boo." I said as Lima came into looking at the both of us.
"Come on y'all." She urged us and we nodded, doing our last final touches before we quickly made our way out of the room.
It was a Friday night, we were all finally off from work and Ms. Alexander had Mya so I could go out with Lima and Bianca and enjoy myself.
I'd been working my ass off, seven days a week and working late hours still for the passed few months since I had all my own bills to pay now. And I wasn't complaining considering it was a good system, I was on my own and I was finally providing for myself and for Mya.
And I had a lot of help so I wasn't complaining at all.
Quickly walking out of the door, we all made our way down the long flights of steps and I tried my hardest to take my time in these heels because I was not trying to fall again.
"Hold on, bitch." Lima said jokingly and I laughed out loud as Bi and I held each other's hand.
Our heels clacked onto the cement and we made sure not to fall as we heard loud voices coming from down below.
"Girl." I laughed, feeling Bi buckle a bit as we finally reached the last step.
When we did, there was a large group of guys standing in front of Lima's apartment building. At first, I thought they were just random guys until I saw Delante's tall figure on one side while Cain's tall figure stood up against the well, smoking a blunt, on the other.
Cain and I's eyes made immediately contact as he looked over my face then down at what I had on before I did the same to him.
"What's up?" He then spoke to me, licking his lips slowly.
"Hey." I smiled small, waving to him.
"Come on." Lima then pulled my arm as I low key stood there in a trance since I hadn't seen him in such a long time.
We were doing so good with good parenting that we didn't even have to see or talk to each other. We had come to an complete understanding with times and dates all while family made sure to work with us but seeing him now, I can't lie, he looked good.
So good.
"Damn." I heard him say under his breath as a few guys said the same thing slickly.
"Where y'all bout' to go?" Another one of them asked, watching us closely as we brushed through them.
"Mind your business." Lima flagged him off, making Delante laugh as we made our way, walking away from them.
As we did, they continued saying slick things and I looked back at Cain once more, looking at how good he looked as he stood there calmly, just smoking.
It's for the best, Shanell. I kept telling myself as I broke away from my trance.
"Come on, Shanny." I then heard as Lima and Bi made their way over to the Uber that'd just pulled up for us.
"Coming." I said, quickly rushing in my heels and following after them.

"Damn, nigga."
"I'm surprised you ain't act up out this bitch." Lante laughed across from me as Lima and them pulled off in an Uber.
"Man.." I shrugged, blowing smoke from my nose.
"I ain't trippin', she doing her and I'm doing me."
"As long as she's happy that's all that matter." I shrugged, knowing that shit was getting to me but shit was going to smooth for me to want to fuck it up.
I couldn't let my ego or my feelings fuck up what we had going on again, it'd been two full months of bliss and though I missed my BG, I knew that shit was for the best.
We wasn't arguing no more, we wasn't fighting no more and she was letting me spend time with my daughter full-time.
That's all I'd ever wanted.
Breaking me away from conversation, another group of girls ended up coming down the steps, in them girly ass heels and make-up and shit just like BG and them.
"Got damn." I heard the homies say, watching as they did and I instantly noticed Kia and her sister was apart of the group.
"Damn." I couldn't help but to say, licking my lips slowly as I looked down at the little ass dress she had on.
Shit, I was getting an eye full tonight. First, BG and now her.
"Hey y'all." They all spoke to us as Kia and her sister's eyes landed directly on me.
"Hey, Cain." They then spoke and I smirked to myself, putting my blunt out.
"What's up?" I nodded my head as I leaned into the wall more, watching as they winked at me.
"Maybe we'll see you later?" Kia went on asking me and I nodded my head, knowing I wanted both of them again.
It was only right.
"Okay. We'll see you later, handsome." Her sister confirmed as the full group made their way toward their cars and my brother raised his eyebrows at me.
"Them the shawties?" He asked and I nodded my head.
"Yeah, bro." I couldn't help but to laugh, seeing the look on his face.
"Let me have one." One of the homies spoke up and I smirked, shaking my head.
"Nah."
"I'm tryn' go where they going!" One of the homies yelled after them and they looked back laughing.
"Come to the club on fourth!" One of them yelled back at him and he looked aback at us, trying to see if we wanted to go.
"We out?" He asked as he looked around at everybody and I wasn't for that shit.
I wasn't the clubbing type.
It was too much money to get out in these streets, to be standing in some club. Plus you couldn't never trust that shit anyway, everybody know that's opp paradise.
"Come on, we out." My brother pressed as the homies confirmed, down with his words.
"Nah, I ain't even the club type." I admitted, wanting to go back to block and he smacked his lips.
"Man, come on, nigga."
"Stop bitchin' and have some fun."
"Right. It's mad bitches out here and you deserve some of' em."
"We can get back to that money shit tomorrow." Another one the homies spoke up and I sighed to myself, knowing I wouldn't like the shit but I went against my better judgement.
"Aight." I shrugged, getting up off the wall.

"Shanny! Here." Bianca yelled over the music, passing me another drink as I sat there, trying to get my mind right.
I was so tipsy, trying to drink slow but her and Lima kept passing me drinks over and over. Trying to get me drunk faster but I'd had my fair share the last time and I was at-least trying to stay comprehensive this time.
"Girl, she is drunk as hell." Lima laughed at me as I sat down, trying to get off my feet for a second.
I couldn't help but to laugh as I sat on the couch in our section, trying to get my mind right. I can't lie though, I was enjoying myself and I was enjoying being out.
But all this liquor mixed with my emotions was getting the best of me.
I miss him. I thought to myself, rolling my eyes at my thoughts as my eyes watered but I quickly pushed my thoughts to the back of my mind.
It's for the best. I told myself again.
"Excuse me." I heard somebody say with an attitude, breaking away from my thoughts as I felt my legs being pushed aside as a group of girls walked passed.
"Who the fuck-" I started but stopped, standing to my feet as Lima and Bi looked at the girls as well.
"Oh, it's just them bitches." Lima went on flagging, seeing Kia and a bunch of other girls with her in our section now.
"Watch your step, hoe." Bi spoke up as they all looked over to us and Kia's eyes landed on me.
When they did, I could tell she was taunting me considering I knew her and her sister was fucking with Cain. Lima had gave me the whole scoop on them and I wasn't surprised considering she smiled in my face every time she saw me but wanted to fuck on my daughter's father.
"I will beat that hoe." Was all I said to myself, feeling my liquor taking over me.
I was already in my feelings about Cain and now here this bitch was thinking she had one up on me with him. When the whole time, I could snatch him if I wanted.
He would always be mine no matter what.
"What she say?" Kia asked snaking her neck as she stepped closer to us and I pushed my hair into a ponytail, feeling myself about to lose it.
I wasn't playing with this weird ass bitch.
"Bitch, my sister said she'll whoop you, hoe."
"So I'd advise you to go ahead before you get beat the fuck up in this section. Play with something safer, hoe." Lima said to her as she pushed her back a little, almost making her drop her drink.
"Who she gon' whoop?" One of the girls with her said and I felt myself about to take off as I stepped around Lima, getting my hair up.
"Right, she ain't going to whoop nobody."
"I snatched her baby dad and now I'm her daughter's step mom, bitch if anything, she better respect me." Kia blurted out and I instantly took off.
I punched that bitch directly in her mouth, playing with mine.
"Oh shit!" Was all I heard, seeming like everything has stopped.
