Like my father before me, I became the king of the vampires. As king, it was my duty to to protect and feed my people, least they become feral due to starvation. Being king also meant trying to keep the peace between my kind and the mortals. It was a severely hard balance to maintain, seeing how the mortals were also our food source. "m'lord, keep pushing yourself like this and you'll end up feral yourself." Suave stated. "i am not going feral!" I replied, annoyed. "please sir.. allow me to watch jasper for a while while you hunt.. the last thing we need is to lose our king to ferality."
"suave, allow me to tell you a known kingly secret." The butler paused as I did. "i'm always starving. nothing satiates the hunger, or ever will until i meet the one." It was true. The neckerchief was embedded with runes that made me look the part of the tame king, but I've be feral for as long as I could remember. My father had known it, and my son knows it. "where is jasper anyway?"
"with the french mortal, sir, trying to learn the language." I picked up Encre's scent and followed it. "thank you, suave, that'll be all for now."

The French artist Encre. Someone who I've had my eye on for quite awhile. He wasn't the one, but he was interesting, thus he was invited to stay at the castle without being turned. Unless he wanted it, of course. Half the time I had no clue what he was saying. I found them on one of the balconies. Jasper was trying to utter something in french, tripping and on the words. "how are you this evening?"
"i'm trying to learn french!" Jasper chirped. I looked to Encre. "and you?"
"je vais bien." He replied. "i will take that as a good."
"plus ou moins." He shrugged, chuckling. I rolled my eyelights. "how goes the french?"
"i have no clue what i'm saying!" He laughed and I sweat dropped. "that's.. to be expected."
"nous essayons.." He rubbed his cervical vertebrae. I wish I knew what he was going on about. "i shall leave you to it."
"ok dad!"
"passe une bonne soirée!" I left the two to check on other things. "where's the maid..?" The mess wasn't bad, but it would be soon one Jasper came in for the morning.

I checked the kitchen first. "where's ms. alibi?" The kitchen staff shrugged. "There's been rumors of vampire hunters around the area.."
"Eterna and Lofty.." I tensed. Eterna was well known for killing our kind, had she gotten to the maid? After the loss of Calamimi, it'd been very hard for me to find a suitable replacement. I'd loved Calamimi. She was the mother of my son. Yet she still wasn't the one. I went in search of Suave. "m'lord? are you looking for me?"
"did ms. alibi tell you where she went?" I asked. "out, m'lord. to fetch a book for jasper." I turned to Suave. "how long ago?"
"gone since 8 in the evening.. should've been back by now."
"eterna is out there.." Suave paused. my deepest apologies, m'lord. shall i post an add for a new maid?" I nodded. "yes. post for a human one, so this doesn't happen again."
"yes m'lord."
