Bird of [in] Paradise
I hear the croak of the toad,
Waking me from my daze.
My eyes shift softly to the sun.
She is -
I behold a bittersweet sight,
A hungry heron haphazardly
Chasing my toad into the road.
She is -
There's a moment of suspense,
As a car swerves into the road.
Both the bird and toad go splat
She is -
Students pass by me concerned,
As I did nothing for the bird.
They care not for the toad.
She is -
She is unmoving.
She is unwavering.
She is unapologetic.
She is a bird of [in] paradise.
