(Deep Conversations)

"Did you know that starfish... have eyes?" Diana says in a serious tone as she looks over at JJ.
They were both sitting on John Bs roof as they smoked a joint. JJ had given Diana one of his flannels to put on over her wet undergarments. JJ kept glancing over at her as her hair slightly blew in the wind.
"I did not know that.. why do you know that?" JJ asks her curiously.
"I like sea creatures... they are pretty cool I guess." Diana says softly as she runs a hand through her hair.
"You would love kie." JJ says in an excited tone.
"I've met Kie once or twice when I was drunk at the bone yard... shes cool." Diana says in a soft tone.
She watched as JJ smokes the joint before handing it to her. She would never admit it to him but he looked extremely hot in that moment. He was still shirtless and his blonde hair was very messy. She liked the feeling of wearing his flannel. It smelled just like him and it was very big on her.
"Who do you hang out with around here?" JJ asks her curiously.
"Not really anybody... everyone usually pisses me off." Diana says in a truthful tone.
"You seem to enjoy spending time with me." JJ says in a cocky tone.
Diana rolls her eyes as she smacks his arm.
"I am being forced to spend time with you because you broke me out of prison." Diana says jokingly.
"Don't act like you don't love me." JJ says flirtatiously.
Diana rolls her eyes in annoyance.
"You're not too awful to be around." Diana tells him quietly as she seems to struggle to get the words out of her mouth.
"Wow... that seemed really hard for you to say and it wasn't even that nice." JJ says in disbelief.
"Shut up... I don't do this sort of thing." Diana says in a nervous tone.
"What kind of thing?" JJ asks her curiously.
"The friend thing... being nice to people... I hate most people." Diana tells him.
"Who said friends are nice to each other." JJ says sarcastically.
"You know what I mean..." Diana says softly as she turns to look at him.
Their eyes lock causing Diana's heart to stop. JJ took a nervous deep breath as he stared at her. He wondered how someone could be so beautiful. He knew he wanted to kiss her but he wanted to take his time with her. She basically just told him she didn't even let people in as friends. She sure as hell wasn't going to let him make out with her after one day.
"I'm glad that you don't completely and utterly hate me." JJ says as a laugh leaves his lips.
"I don't know... you are kinda starting to piss me off." Diana tells him sarcastically.
JJ nudges her arm as he shakes his head at her.
"So tell me more about these sea creatures." JJ says as he lays back onto the roof.
"Like you care." Diana huffs in response.
JJ usually didn't give a shit about what other people had to say but he thought it was cute when Diana talked about something she was passionate about.
"I actually am curious about it." JJ says softly.
A smile formed on Diana's face as she got excited to talk about something she liked a lot.
"Okay so..." Diana begins to say as she lays down onto the roof with JJ.
JJ rested his head on his elbow as his eyes remained glued on Diana. A smile formed on his face as he watched her tell him facts about dolphins. Her eyes were mainly focused on the sky but she kept looking over at JJ to make sure he was still listening. He would simply nod his head every-time she looked at him to show her that he understood what she was saying. JJ felt his heart beating excessively as he stared at her. He had never felt this way about any girl before and it was so weird to him.
"What do you like besides surfing?" Diana asks JJ curiously.
JJ couldn't even form words due to how hardcore he was staring at her in the previous moment. He blinked as he turned his attention to the sky and tried to think of something.
"I like making out with girls." JJ says in a cocky tone.
Diana scoffs as she smacks his chest.
"This roof top would be the perfect place to do." JJ says flirtatiously.
"Are you kidding me? Is that all that goes through your head? Girls." Diana asks him in disbelief.
"Your telling me you don't think about guys 99 percent of the time." JJ asks her curiously.
"Nope.. I don't need a boy to make me happy.. they are a waste of time and energy... and unlike you I can't just have sex with whoever and not catch feelings." Diana says in a sharp tone.
"There's gotta be at least one guy in the Outer Banks who you at least find attractive." JJ says as he turns to look at her.
Diana feels butterflies in her stomach as JJ stares at her. Her mind instantly thought of JJ but she couldn't tell him that.
"Rafe Cameron's not bad to look at but he's kind of a psychopath." Diana says as a giggle leaves her lips.
JJ's mouth drops open as he starts tickling Diana. Diana squeals as she can't stop laughing.
"Stop!" She yells as a smile remains stuck on her face.
She tries to squirm out of JJs grip but he's much stronger then her. JJ loves the sound of her laughter as it echoed through the air around them.
"You deserve this.. I'm actually throwing up in my mouth at what you just said!" JJ yells sarcastically.
"I can't breathe!" Diana yells at him.
JJ stops tickling her as Diana struggles to catch her breath.
"He's a murderer." JJ says in a shocked tone.
"But he's kinda hot." Diana says as a giggle leaves her lips.
JJ shakes his head in disbelief.
"We both know your real answer was me." JJ teases her.
Diana's face gets red as she quickly looks away from JJ in hopes that he doesn't notice how flustered he makes her. Diana and JJ both lay back down on the roof as their eyes look up at the sky.
"Those stars right there.... form boobs." JJ says as he points at the sky.
Diana smacks his arm causing JJ to laugh.
"You have a way with words." Diana mutters jokingly.
"Those stars form a penguin." JJ says in a serious tone as he points up at the sky.
"How the hell do you see a penguin?" Diana asks him in a confused tone.
JJ leans closer to Diana as he points at the stars.
"You see it?" JJ asks her softly as his face is inches away from her face.
JJ feels chills enter his body as he realizes how close he is to her.
"I don't see shit... you're pointing to a bunch of stars that make nothing." Diana mutters as she points to where he is pointing.
"Not there... there stupid." JJ says as he gently grabs her hand and moves it to the right.
Diana felt her heart race at the feeling of JJ holding onto her wrist.
"You see it now?" JJ whispers to her.
Diana squinted at the sky as she could feel JJ's eyes on her. He slowly let go of her wrist causing Diana's heart to hurt at the loss of contact.
"I still can't see it.. I think you're hallucinating or some shit." Diana tells him as she struggles to find the penguin.
"How are you missing it?" JJ whispers aggressively.
Diana shrugs as she feels him grab her wrist again.
"Right there." JJ tells her softly as he points with her hand at the stars.
Diana finally sees the penguin causing her to laugh.
"Ohhh...." Diana says causing JJ to laugh.
"Yeah... ohhhhhh.... it took you long enough." JJ teases her.
"Well you are terrible at giving directions." Diana replies defensively.
"Nah it was cause I was so close to you it was making you nervous." JJ says flirtatiously.
"No." Diana says confidently.
Diana rests her head on JJ's chest and JJ can feel his heart practically getting yanked out of his chest. He was caught off guard by how she seemed unaffected by his words. Why was it so hard for him to figure her out? One minute it seemed like he was playing with her feelings but then the next moment she was playing with his. JJ heard the sound of soft snoring next to him causing him to look down at Diana. Her head was resting on his chest while she was completely passed out.
"How did you..." JJ whispers as he can't believe she fell asleep so quickly.
He gently picks her up and carries her inside. He looks down at her face as she looks so peaceful while she was asleep. He had never seen her face so relaxed. Usually she was making a disgusted face at him or rolling her eyes. He placed her on the couch before gently placing a blanket over her.
"JJ!" A voice yells as they enter the house.
JJ immediately shooshes them. Pope walks into the living room causing his eyes to land on a sleeping Diana.
"No fucking way... your macking Diana Grover!" Pope whispers dramatically.
"I am not." JJ says in a serious tone.
"Then what is she doing here?" Pope asks him aggressively.
"I may or may not have helped her escape from prison." JJ says in a guilty tone.
"You are harboring a fugitive." Pope whispers aggressively.
"Don't act like we haven't done this before." JJ replies defensively.
"You need to get her out of here... you could go to jail for this.. wouldn't that be your third strike and Peterkin isn't here to help you anymore....we don't need another friend in prison." Pope tells him sharply.
"She has nowhere else to go." JJ says in a soft tone.
"Holy shit...you're finally a simp." Pope says in disbelief.
"Hey! No! I'm just helping a friend out." JJ replies defensively.
"Where's John B I need to tell him about this.... you've gone full simp.... oh wait John Bs in prison so I can't tell him...." Pope rambles as he walks into the kitchen.
"I have not gone full simp! Don't tell anyone about this Pope!" JJ yells as he chases him into the kitchen.
