Your voice reminded Marinette of an angel.

During your sixth year of school, you had auditioned for the school musical and scored the leading role. Marinette wanted to be apart of it too, but hated being on stage. She ended up signing up for costume design after you encouraged her to do the musical with you.

Your relationship with Marinette grew more and more strenuous each day. Every time Marinette would struggle with the designs or stitching of one of the costumes, you would be there immediately to help her out. You had much steadier hands than she did, and she despised that about you.

Marinette wanted more than anything to be a fashion designer, you hardly care about designing. Even so, you were naturally gifted with creative arts.

Hell, she thought you could do anything.

Watching from backstage as you stood center stage, singing a heartbreaking solo, she burned with envy.

After the show the whole cast and crew circled the stage and bowed for the audience, receiving an overwhelming amount of praise and applause for the show.

Even though you all collectively worked together to put on the production, Marinette couldn't help but notice how she blended in with her all black outfit, and you stood out amongst everyone with your shimmering white dress.

Your parents came and congratulated the two of you as soon as they could.

"There's my super stars!" Your father grinned as he kissed both of your heads.

"Mom! Dad! That was so fun! The feeling of being on stage was so thrilling! Did you see that glittery dress Marinette made? She did it by herself, can you even believe! She's so great at it." You squealed excitedly and the praise you gave Marinette made her blood boil.

"You hear that Marinette? Your sister complimented you." Your mother had placed a hand on her shoulder and she stiffened.

"Yeah. Thanks." Marinette sneered.

Even though she was feeling as nasty as she sounded, she hadn't meant for it to come out like that. Your eyes had widened at her tone and she saw the way you trembled. Dammit. You were making her feel worse.

And the feeling only grew from your frown that remained the rest of the night.

Marinette felt terribly guilty, but she never once apologized.

Your parents signed you up for piano lessons the following week after your school's band teacher had told you that you have the hands of a pianist. You were a natural talent of course and she was so incredibly jealous.

Your parents offered to sign her up along with you, but she couldn't bare it. How could she do something that you would always be twelve times better at?

From that day on, Marinette always sneered when she talked to you.

You laid there sprawled out across your bed with a giddy smile on your face.

Luka had such a gentle approach when talking to you, which was incredibly new to you considering your loud behaviors were always answered with anger and aggression.

You let out a content sigh as you checked the time off your phone. It was getting late, time slipped away—you hadn't even realized you had been reliving the night for so long.

The two of you walked back up onto the deck of the boat. Rose ran over worriedly hoping that she hadn't said anything to offend either of you. The two of you gave Rose separate hugs and assured her that your outbursts had nothing to do with her.

"I'm sorry you guys. I didn't mean to totally ruin the show we planned. I've been having a really hard day." Luka admitted with his hand gripping the back of his neck. The pain you had noticed flaring in his eyes earlier returned.

You sat there staring at him as his band mates hugged him tightly.

It was hard to accept that he didn't know about you, but it was even more surprising that Marinette had dated someone other than Adrien.

It was a little heartbreaking too.

After what happened the night before though, you didn't have the energy to confront her about it or even be angry. You had no desire to be anywhere near her.

It was imposible to be anyways.

"I promised Y/n a song." You glanced up and was met with Luka grinning along with his bandmates at the idea.

"We've got the perfect one!" Rose jumped up with her fist in the air, her voice as cheery as ever.

They immediately cued up 'I Love Unicorns' with their costumes and everything. You smiled and laughed the whole time, cheering them on.

After the song was over, you approached Luka with a bright smile. "You're hella talented." You started to hold your hand up for a high-five, when you noticed him trying to shake off a pained look.

You let your hand fall.

"Thanks, Y/n."

"I actually love playing." You added as you motioned to the piano.

"For real?" He asked with a quirked eyebrow.

Luka's mind immediately began comparing you to your sister, even though he knew that was the last thing he should be doing. Marinette never played any music of her own, but always made a point to listen to it. The two of them shared a similar taste in music, something he loved sharing with her. Before he could go any further, he saw you turn and he slapped himself on the head.

You were a different person than her, he had to remember that.

You nodded. "I sing too. Say, since you were so incredibly rude to me earlier," you grinned wickedly at him, "Wanna play a song with me?" You asked, your voice suddenly growing soft.

It had been a really long time since you sang in front of an audience, but for some reason your heart was calling you to sing.

Luka was surprised with your blunt manipulation tactic you used almost flawlessly. "Sure, Y/n." He choked out your name with a chuckle.

You beamed and walked over to Rose, asking if you could borrow her microphone.

You walked back over to Luka. "I'm in the mood for a faster song, even though the lyrics are kinda sad and angry."

He quirked an eyebrow at you and tilted his head. "What is it?" He chuckled at your random way of describing.

"It's called 'So Close.' It's a song about failed, fucked up love." It was a song you always blasted in Jess's mom's car with Zoe and Anon during the weekends.

Those were the best times, driving through the streets of New York with the windows down, wind in your hair, and your girls by your side.

The fondest memories, truly.

Luka thought for a moment, singing the melody in his head, "I know that one." He smiled and your smile only brightened.

"It's pretty much number one on my heartache playlist." You laughed softly.

"I guess I'll add it to mine too," he began but had a mischievous look creeping onto his face, "Well, depending on your performance of course."

You grinned heartily at the challenge and signaled him to cue up the music.

You slept way later the next day than you had meant to. Your mother opened your door nervously, thinking maybe you had developed a concussion later in your sleep and were going to be unresponsive.

You groaned as the light from your living room aggressively shined into your room through the larger than necessary opening of your door.

"Honey? Are you awake?" Your mother asked softly, even though you knew she knew you were awake.

You lifted your head and angled it sloppily in her direction. You were clinging tightly to your pillow and your large, gray sweater was scrunched up around your neck. Your mother laughed at your messy bed head and overall dismantled appearance.

"I made you some breakfast, come get it when you're ready." She closed your door, but left it barely cracked, which left a small slit of light blinding you.

You began cursing as you threw your pillow at the door. It didn't budge, leaving you with a door that was still open to the blinding light and no pillow.

You got up, whining the entire time, and slipped your feet into your unicorn slippers. Your mother told you that they were childish the first night you returned, but you had a matching pair with your best friends from America so there was no way in hell you weren't going to wear them.

You slouched out of your room and walked over to the counter to sit on the barstool. Your mother tried to hide her laughter at your grumpiness (and your raging bedhead) as she scooped eggs onto a plate along with a chocolate filled pastry.

"What's the occasion?" You asked as you sipped on a glass of water. Your mother only made the two of you breakfast on your birthday and other holidays. You always grabbed something your dad made in the bakery for breakfast, thinking you were sneaky.

You caught a glimpse of your mother's frown as she turned away from you. She had known when you both had seen she cooked, one of you would find it suspicious.

But she needed to do it, she was feeling incredibly guilty for the lack of effort she and your father had put into raising you girls. She hated not knowing how to help you and Marinette get along, and she thought maybe if you had a more attentive and caring mother that it would help ease the burden.

She turned back around and smiled at you, but immediately noticed the way your eyes slitted with exhaustion and the way you kept missing your mouth as you tried to shovel in the eggs. She poured you a coffee and slid it towards you.

You watched her, glancing up one more time at her until she slid you the creamer and sugar.

You thanked her with a goofy grin.

A few minutes into your peaceful breakfast, your front door opened. Alya, Juleka, Alix, and Rose walked in with incredibly worried looks on their faces.

"Oh, good morning girls." Your mother spoke to the unexpected visitors that she guessed her husband had let up.

Your classmates all waved at you and your mother, while Rose ran over and kissed your cheek. "We came to check up on Marinette. Alya was very insistent and I thought it was a good idea too." She waved to you and followed the rest of the girls up the stairs.

"Why does Marinette need to be checked up on?" Your mother asked and you simply shrugged.

You had a feeling it was about her breakup with Luka, but you weren't supposed to know about that.

You weren't a monster—of course you weren't going to tell your mother.

Who was now frowning, knowing that it probably had something to do with Marinette sneaking in late.

Sabine felt like she should go upstairs and send the girls home, considering Marinette was grounded. She began to walk over to the stairs when the girls came back down not even minutes later.

You had a pastry stuffed in your face when they ran over to you with desperate expressions.

"Y/n! Marinette has lost it! She told us to leave and that she didn't want to be our friends anymore." Rose cried out to you as she grabbed your arm and sobbed against your shoulder.

You were always a pitiful comforter, so you left it to Juleka to pat her girlfriend's head lovingly.

"Marinette doesn't listen much to me, so I can't be much help to you all. Maybe try and give her some time to cool down?" You offered, knowing your advice sucked, but it was honestly all you had.

Your classmates were clearly displeased with your response, leaving you to eat your breakfast. You glanced towards the door and then to the stairs that led to Marinette's room. You wanted to go up there and beg her to fix whatever she had just broken with her friends, but you knew it was pointless.

Deciding against a fight for the day, you continued to eat your pastry. You soon saw Ladybug swinging across the city, and wondered if she was after to save your helpless and sad classmates.

You also couldn't help but wonder if you could have prevented it all
