I have literally been banging my head against the wall for maybe the last hour! I've been forced to join Sofia's sleepover with Ruby, Jade, Amber, Clio, and Hildegard! On top of that, Cedric tried to steal Sofia's amulet again and failed horribly! I'm not even allowed to go to my room until this sleepover is over! I am slowly dying and losing brain cells being with these eight to nine-year-olds! Say I'm overreacting! I'm too old for sleepovers! Then eventually, much to my delight, they finally fell asleep. Why was I dragged into this again?
I have no idea. But I'm not sleeping in here. I'll just make up an excuse tomorrow. I'm sleeping in my room. Not before reading more sorcery books. I'm making the most of my lessons so I'm going to study a lot. Then I went to sleep. A few days later, I'm not taking lessons from Cedric. Instead, I'm helping with a potion that he can't get right. And it's not because he's bad at magic. I've maybe looked over the potion recipe twenty times and we're getting it right. At one point it blew up on us! That's also when Sofia came to visit. Cedric let her in.
Sofia was asking for help with her Sorcery class. But we had more important things to do than teach her. The mess in here for example. We can't find anything! So, Sofia offered to clean up the workshop in return for lessons. SO BASICALLY SHE'S REPLACING ME! But I don't clean up. Mostly because I'm too busy for it. Cedric agreed to it and shoved her out.
"(Y/N)! This is what we've been waiting for! I am going to brew up a potion that will make me invisible. Then, while Sofia is busy tidying up the workshop, I'll pour the invisibility potion on myself and disappear. I'll be able to swipe her amulet without her even knowing it. Once the Amulet of Avalor is mine, I can use its power to take over the kingdom. I'll be the first sorcerer to be king. 'King Cedric the First,'" Cedric said smiling
"Then let's get the Amulet, Your Majesty," I said smirking.
"Oh, Mother, Farther, if you could only see me now," Cedric said to a painting of his parents, Goodwyn the Great and Winnifred the Wise.
"We can, Cedric. Why do you think we gave you this portrait?" A voice asked as a ball of light came out of it.
"Erm, for my birthday," Cedric said
Goodwyn appeared, "So your mother and I can keep an eye on you. A sorcerer's place is by the king's side, not on his throne."
"Oh, nothing I do is ever good enough for you, is it, father?"
"Goodwyn, let Cedric plan in peace," Winnifred said coming out the portrait too.
"Oh, Winnifred. Why must you encourage him?" Goodwyn asked
Goodwyn disappeared into the portrait again.
"You go get that amulet and make your mummy proud," Winnifred said pinching Cedric's cheek.
She went back into the portrait.
"Ooh! Cedric is a Mummy's boy. How cute," I teased
"Oh, be quiet! But we're going to show them all! Father, and especially King Roland," Cedric said.
'They have always told me since I was a lad that I'm the worst Sorcerer the kingdom's ever had. Whenever things go wrong, King Roland simply stands and claims, "It must be Cedric that's to blame". Anytime I try to cast a little spell, no one thinks it turns out very well. But that won't last for long. It's time for me to make my claim. Soon everyone will know my name!' Cedric tried a spell but it just blew a bubble and burst, making him a little wet.
'All I need to do is swipe that amulet,' he made a fake one appear, 'then I will show them who I am, you bet. Once I have the jewel, I can use its power to take the king's crown, it'll be my finest hour!'
He had made a crown appear and placed it on his head and the amulet around his neck. He made a stool and pillow float and made it into a throne.
'They can tell me I'm no good and call me second rate, but soon they'll see I'm meant to be, King Cedric the Great!'
He floated down a corridor and I followed. Down the stairs was a model of the castle along with some toy guards. Oh, he's been planning this for a while. I made the guards come to life.
'When you're the king, everyone will bow and only do the things King Cedric will allow. Every spell you cast will always go as planned and those who used to tease you will be at your command!' I sang smiling.
"Thank you, (Y/N)," Cedric said smiling.
'One trick will show them all Cedric isn't second rate. We kiss the ring of our new king! King Cedric! King Cedric the Great!' me and the guards sang.
There was a knock at the door and Cedric fell to the floor. Baileywick appeared.
"Cedric, all this noise is disturbing the King's supper, please keep it down!" Baileywick said before leaving.
I sat next to Cedric.
'They can tell me I'm no good and call me second rate, but soon they'll see I'm meant to be... King Cedric the Great...' Cedric sang
We just sat there when the castle suddenly blew up, "Merlin's Mushrooms."
So, the next morning, Sofia came for her first lesson. But first, she was asked to tidy up while we finished the invisibility potion. Cedric put the last ingredient in and the potion was finished. But the cauldron started shaking and something shot in the air. It exploded making confetti rain down. He decided to continue it later. So, time to teach Sofia. She wanted to know how to turn a rock into a ruby. It's easy enough. I don't see why she's having trouble with it. But Cedric showed her what to do and she got it right. And that's when Baileywick walked in.
After insulting Cedric on his magic, Baileywick told him that Roland needed him. Cedric seemed nervous at the mention of Roland. We went into the courtyard where Roland and Mum were waiting for us. Roland revealed that we'll be having a royal guest stay at the castle, King Magnus, and asked Cedric to change the gargoyles into something more inviting. Cedric suggested golden horses which Roland agreed to. I gave Cedric his wand and he tried the spell. But it turned into a real flying horse!
Cedric wanted to try again but Roland told him not to bother and that no one is as gifted as his father. So, they'll just clean up the rest of the palace and hope King Magnus doesn't look up. I'm more sorry for Cedic than anything else. He is really trying to do his best then, the next thing you know, he messes it up and they don't let him try again. Yes, no one can be as gifted as his father but that doesn't mean he isn't trying. We went back to his tower. He was still feeling awful.
I guess it's because he was compared to his father. No child or person should have that on their shoulders. He's most likely lived with that his whole life. Sofia asked about his father. He was the previous royal sorcerer before Cedric. Saved Roland's dad's life nine and a half times. Meanwhile, Cedric hasn't done that yet. Not even once. Not even half. How do you half save someone's life is my question. I'll ask later. Because Sofia accidentally poured a potion on herself and changed into a lizard!
Cedric thankfully turned her back. But here's what I don't understand. Cedric managed to do that spell with ease yet, when he was trying to turn the gargoyles into golden horses, he got the spell wrong. What's the difference between now and earlier? And then he finally revealed that he gets nervous around the king. I know he's supposed to be evil and all but I did think he was the nervous type. I've been around nervous people enough to know. But I didn't expect the royal sorcerer to be nervous.
But Sofia intends to show Roland that Cedric is a great sorcerer. Unfortunately, we had to go to dinner. So, we cleaned up and went to dinner where we met King Magnus. He brags a lot. Mostly about his kingdom. Now I don't want to be here. I don't like people who brag, especially people of high status. At the mention of his Royal sorcerer, Sofia spoke up about Cedric being just as great as his. Roland obviously didn't agree. But it was soon agreed that Cedric would put on a show for everyone the night after tomorrow.
So, we broke the news to him. He agreed it was great because this would be his first magic show for royalty. But now he'll have to perform for two kings. That isn't going to be easy when you get as nervous as he does. But, Sofia offered to help prepare for his performance if he helps her prepare for her test tomorrow since it's on the same day. Cedric agreed and I did a little magic of my own. I did one of the spells Sofia had to learn, turn rocks into rubies. I needed to practice.
The day was ready to come to an end when Sofia pointed something out to Cedric. She had just cleaned a stane from his book for the invisibility potion and revealed two more ingredients that he was missing. Sofia left and Cedric finished the potion and it worked! Now Cedric could execute the plan! While celebrating, he noticed something on the table.
It was the rubies I made that I put into a heart. Now, I didn't know if it was a friendly thing or not. But, much to my disappointment, Cedric thought Sofia did it. He didn't know I was in the same room so he didn't ask. Cedric has an upstairs area which is where I am now.
"Look at that lovely gift Sofia left you, Cedric," Goodwyn said appearing on his shoulder, "If you steal her amulet, son, think how sad she will be. How could you do that to your new friend?"
"Oh, don't listen to him, Cedric," Winnifred said appearing on his other shoulder, "You can make this your final trick at the big show tomorrow. Use the potion to turn yourself invisible, swipe the amulet, and take over the kingdom."
"I can make up my own mind, you know," Cedric said
Winnifred and Goodwyn turned into their normal size.
"I hope you do the right thing, Cedric," Goodwyn said.
"No, no, do the wrong thing," Winnifred said, "Mommy loves you."
Cedric left as his parents waved goodbye. When I thought Cedric was far enough away, I screamed in frustration. Of course, he assumed that the rubies were Sofia's doing! That's what everyone thinks! It's annoying now! Winnifred ran up to me.
"Is everything alright, dear?" She asked.
"No! Everything isn't alright! Sofia didn't do that with the rubies! It was me! People need to stop thinking Sofia did everything. I EXIST TOO! OR DO I NOT SINCE I'M JUST THE OLDEST AND DON'T MATTER TO ANYONE?!" I yelled.
I walked away.
"Sibling rivalry?" Goodwyn asked.
"It's more than that. She's blind to my jealousy. Everyone is except Cedric. And now I do one nice thing after Sofia and he and you assume it was her! What must I do to be noticed? Nothing apparently," I said.
I left the workshop and went to bed. I shouldn't even try anymore. I'm not supposed to be here. Everyone has made that clear. But I am going to get Sofia's amulet. Then I'll get noticed. The next day, Cedric and I set up for the magic show with Sofia. Cedric said hello and mentioned the potion which would be the finally. But first, he made Sofia's rabbit, Clover appear. But it didn't impress Magnus who bragged that his sorcerer once made a whole zoo appear once.
Now he knew he had a competition, Cedric tried to make Clover fly but he said the spell wrong and made him bounce violently. He soon stopped but Cedric was very, very nervous now he made his first big mistake. So Sofia had the great idea to pour a potion on me without telling me and I turned into a lizard! NOW APPARENTLY I EXIST BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT ME FOR ONCE! I HAD TO TURN INTO A LIZARD TO BE NOTICED! Cedric turned me back and mum came to check on me.
I was fine but secretly annoyed. Well, now Cedric had finally saved someone and Roland was happy about that. So, we moved onto that final trick, the potion. Which Cedric decided to use on Clover instead of himself. He later revealed that it was because Sofia and I finally helped show Roland that he wasn't as bad as they thought. When Sofia left, he asked me if I was okay which I assured him I was. Then I went to bed. I guess we both got something out of today.
