"i know you're trying to wake me up, but it isn't going to work. now leave."
you had knocked on scaramouche's door without getting a response, so you took it upon yourself to enter his room without his permission. he found it annoying, and almost kicked you out - but he didn't have the energy to do so, so you stayed at the foot of his bed.
"you have work in a few minutes with a few clients," you announced, walking over to throw open the curtains. sunlight exploded through the clear pane windows, and scaramouche hissed a little before covering his face with the pillow. you looked over at him. "they're important clients, need i remind you."
scaramouche groaned in his pillow, and you laughed.
you had been working under scaramouche for over many months, and despite having other people working under him, he only stuck with you. the rest of the personal secretaries were never up to standard - except for you. they always got fired, and you always worried about being next... but that day never came.
you had always been at the top of your work, and so scaramouche opted to pay you extra for taking care of not just the office, but also the house. so you came to live with him under his rules.
"why are you so noisy in the morning, y/n." he asked, throwing the pillow towards you. you caught the pillow and placed it on the side of his bed.
"im not trying to be , i just don't want you to embarrass yourself as the boss of your work~" you teased, sitting on the side of his bed as he gave you a glaring stare. scaramouche always loved that sparkle in your eye whenever you spoke with him, and although he was cold and a brute on many standards, he was glad you didn't see that in him.
"you're so fucking stubborn..." he groaned. "you realise that the meeting is at 12pm, and it's only 10am right now. what are you trying to aim."
"preparations take time, and since they're coming over, we need some time to prepare for the guests and tea and everything." you said, and he rolled his eyes at you.
"im sorry but why is that my concern? isn't that your job to make sure things are prepared?"
you scratched the back of your neck. "yes but the work contract you gave me said to wake you up early everyday and- 10am isn't very early-"
you felt him pull you towards him - his arms reached out and almost too roughly, yanked you into bed with him. he was not having your early morning rants, and he wanted to sleep more, with or without you, and since you weren't going to leave without a fight, he was going to shut you up himself.
"scaramouche..? what are you doing- this- isn't-"
"shut up, im trying to sleep," he groaned. he had positioned himself directly in the crook of your neck while his arms stayed wrapped around your waist. he had pulled you close to him, pressing you against his chest. "don't act like you're not tired too."
"i am, but today's clients are about the future of your company.. im just worried about you-"
"that you don't have to concern yourself with," he said. "ill mind my problem, you on the other hand, need some silencing..." he opened his eyes slowly, and moved over to pin you down on the bed. he hovered above you, and smirked down at you when he noticed your rather flustered look. "ah~ getting shy are we?"
"scaramouche you're my boss... and im your secretary this isn't exactly... ideal.." you looked away from him, but that didn't sit well. he used a hand to hold your face, turning it back to face him.
"and who made a rule that we couldn't do this?"
"nobody..."
"exactly, now, you should be punished for being so loud in the mornings. i absolutely hate it when you barge into my room to wake me up three hours before something important," he smirked, stroking your face with his hand. "if you really wish to be that loud in the morning..." he leaned down towards your neck and kissed it gently. "ill give you something to be loud about~"
you felt your heart race, and was ready to accept whatever he wanted to do, but he pulled his face away to look at your flustered one. he always knew how to break you down to a shy mess, and he enjoyed that look you have. "i-... i-"
"hm? you had all that confidence before and now you're tongue tied~?" he leaned down again, this time towards your lips as he stroked your bottom lip. "well then, let me loosen that for you~"
he locked his lips with yours, and you felt like a bomb just erupted inside of your stomach. you were kissing scaramouche - it dawned on you. you were kissing him, your boss, and the worst part is you liked it. you enjoyed it, you liked it so much.
he kissed you again and again, taking breaths in between, and his disheveled white shirt just made things even more hot. he moved his lips to your neck, and gently left a few pecks here and there - and you couldn't help but let out soft whimpers. this wasn't exactly an ideal way to start the day but hey, you definitely weren't complaining.
this was goddamn beautiful.
"have you learned your lesson yet, y/n?" he asked, stroking your cheek when he was done captivating your lips. from your view, he looked beautiful in the sunlight with his messy purple hair everywhere, and his dishevelled shirt reveled his chest slightly. "..or should i explore your body this time~?"
"i... don't wish to be violated in that way.." you choked out a reply, and scaramouche raised a brow.
"is this what you think this is? violation?" he looked into your eyes with one of the softest gaze you've ever seen in him. "y/n i may be a man of many strong words, but violating someone, especially if that person's you, is not on my list of doings. i respect you as much, and i admit i let my cravings get the better of me for me to ... kiss you, like this.. but i don't see you as an object, if that's what you're so worried about."
reassurance. he was giving you that kind of reassurance you never thought you'd have. scaramouche saw the look in your eyes, and he moved away from your face and got off of you, sitting and rubbing his eyes on the side of the bed.
you got up a little, and looked over at him. "are you awake now?"
he nodded. "very," he then turned to face you, then his eyes went down to your shirt. he smirked a little and leaned in, you backed away a little, but he calmed you. "relax kitty im just trying to fix your clothes~ you wouldn't want to look messy in front of the clients now do you?" he helped you adjust your shirt, and before he left the bed, gave you another kiss on your cheek.
he made way to the bathroom, and started up with his routine. you were left on his bed, unable to really think. you liked how he kissed you, is it wrong for you to want more though...?
probably best not to think of that for now and prepare for the clients' arrival.
most of the clients have already left at around 2pm, except for one of scaramouche's more wealthy clients - kaeya. he had stayed for extra talk about business, and scaramouche had ordered for you to bring in more wine and whiskey for them to talk over.
while you were in the kitchen preparing their drinks, you listened in on their conversations.
"so scaramouche, these are the figures for the year." kaeya said.
scaramouche hummed. "yes, i thought as much. tomorrow, we go for the millions. send a report to liyue company and ask them for a partnership. if they agree, we will have the million numerals within days."
"hm hm, yes a very good proposal, but on a more personal matter, who's your new housekeeper?"
"they're... not a housemaid, more of a - private secretary."
"you seem to be quite fond of them."
"what the fuck makes you say that?"
"calm down, i was merely stating a point."
you went back to the living room and brought them their glasses of wine and whiskey. you handed a glass to kaeya and he gave you a firm nod and a smile. he then turned to scaramouche. "i admit you've got yourself quite a looker~"
scaramouche scoffed. "pft, yeah whatever."
"when your contract ends with them, how about you sell them to me-"
"they're not for sale, or for loaning." scaramouche stated gravely, staring into kaeya's eyes. kaeya laughed and gave a sigh.
"woah, they seem special to you then, you've really gone head over heels it would seem?"
"i know you and i have been working partners for decades, but what i do in my personal life is none of your fucking business." the doorbell rang, and scaramouche sighed. "please excuse me for a minute."
scaramouche got up from the couch and started for the front door, leaving you and kaeya alone in the empty big living room. kaeya took a sip of his whiskey and looked at you. "so, how long have you been working for him?"
"oh, a couple of months.. its actually been a journey." you laughed a little, trying to make the atmosphere less horrific for you. being left alone with someone like kaeya was the mosg harrowing thing of all things.
kaeya smirked. "ill bet. scaramouche trusts people too easily it seems~"
"sorry..?" you asked with a smile. was he implying that you weren't trustworthy?
kaeya placed his glass down and got up to his feet, looking at you. he took a few steps close to you, and kept his gaze. "you came to the company as a stray, begging for a job. it seems weird that he chose you of all other reliable people to be his private secretary. ive known scaramouche for years, and yet, his actions with you confuses me slightly."
"i promise ive been doing good.."
kaeya smiled and got closer to you, taking your hand and examining the recent scars and bandages. "im assuming he did this for you?" he then let go of your hand and stared at you with an intimidating stare, whilst still keeping a smile. "ive been raised to question everything i see. scaramouche has been betrayed by the ones closest to him many times before, and it's weird how he trusts so easily again. of course, if i have any reason to believe that you're taking advantage of him.. i will take you off his worry list. personally."
you felt scared, and didn't know what to say, so you just nodded. "yes sir.."
"you don't look threatening at the very least, but ill be keeping a close watch on you. can't be too careful now, can we?"
"lay off kaeya. they're mine to worry." scaramouche stated loudly as he came back into the living room. kaeya laughed and finished off the rest of his whiskey.
"your actions surprises me everyday, my friend," he smiled at him, then at you. "if you ever get bored of them though, id gladly take them under my care-"
"ive said it before and ill say it again. they're not for sale or for loan."
kaeya smirked. "so protective of this one, aren't you? have you fallen for them?"
"again, none of your fucking business. now leave before i have my guards escort you out." scaramouche stated gravely yet again, and kaeya laughed.
"alright alright, ill see you tomorrow," he took a bow at you before he left. "hopefully, you'll have the right paperwork."
"i will," scaramouche nodded and after kaeya left the house, you felt more relieved. you took a sigh and scaramouche immediately flew over to you, holding your face and such. "that asshole didn't hurt you did he?"
you shook your head. "no no... i get that he was being cautious of me.."
scaramouche stroked your cheek, and looked into your eyes. "did he say anything to you?"
"called me a stray.."
scaramouche nodded. "he's not wrong. you did come to us begging at first, and i took you in not out of pity don't get me wrong. i took you in because i believed in you. my work may matter a damn whole lot to me, but you..." he leaned in and kissed your lips. "you matter first.."
you sighed and trembled a little. "i don't want to feel like im-"
"being used for my pleasure?"
you said nothing, only nodded.
scaramouche stroked your cheek, and kissed your forehead tenderly. "i won't be able to change what you think of me, but im going to state this here and now, that i feel an attraction to you. you... mean a whole lot to me. it may seem like i don't care but, i really do. you're someone who i trust, and ... perhaps, someone whom i love..."
you looked down at your feet shyly, and scaramouche smiled. you looked back up and smiled slightly. "i see you as the same way.."
"so let's just make this official," he said, holding your face with both his hands. "ill take care of you, if you'll have me ; and if you'll let me.."
you nodded. "i.. would like that very much."
"perfect." he locked his lips with yours, and you wrapped your arms around his neck. he kissed you passionately, and all throughout the day, you two just stayed together.
work came second, but love comes first.
