Chapter 3:
{*ASHLEY’S POV*}
I ran down the hallway, eager to get out of school. But slowed down when I remembered Brandon was driving me home. As if on cue Brandon popped out of a classroom, with some guys, not too far from where I stood. “BRANDON!” I called, waving my hands above my head. His head snapped towards me, and his expression changing into his one of his genuine smiles. He turned to the guys, then turned back and headed towards me; I kinda met him halfway so it’s less trouble for him.
“Hey Ash!” he grinned as I stepped next to him causing me to accidently bump my arm against his. A flood of sparks and heat flew throughout my body from his simple touch. Goosebumps rose on my skin. It felt… nice…
After our little spark I smiled up at him, “Hi Brad!” He’s freakishly tall and I’m… average? I’m lucky if I can touch the top of his head! He just stared at me like he was in space. I looked behind him, looking at the guys he left the class with. They kept glancing at Brad and I.
Hm? Wonder what they’re staring at so intensely at? I shook my head and looked back at Brandon. He was still looking at me; I blushed slightly thinking there was something on my face. I shook it off then started walking to the car park. Brandon shook his head, as if trying to get out of thinking, and started walking next to me. I smiled at him, trying to start a conversation, “Can’t wait for your birthday tomorrow?”
“Yeah… Can’t wait…” he mumbled, now looking down at the ground. What’s up with him? We made it to his car then hopped in.
“Hey guys!”
I screamed in fright as well as jump in my seat at the sudden sound. Both Brandon and I turned to look at what, or better who, was behind us. Surprisingly enough Keith was already inside… “How the hell did you get in here?” Brandon said, clearly confused in how a smartass 16 year old got into his very, very expensive car.
Keith just smirked, “I have my ways...” Brandon and I just stared at him with disbelief. I blinked a couple of times trying to register what he just said and how the hell he got in here without sounding any alarms.
“I-I… forget it…” Brandon mumbled, turning back to the front and putting his hands on the steering wheel. I just stared at my little brother…
He just shrugged innocently and gave a cheeky smirk, “What…?” I just glared at him…
“You’re evil…” I said quietly, I was directing it more to me than him. Next thing I heard was a knock. I turn my head to the left and see Lucas knocking on the window of the car.
“Can I come in?” I heard him say, the glass blocking out some of his voice. Brandon unlocked his car and Lucas opened the door and sat in.
“WELCOME!” Keith cried cheerfully, throwing his hands towards Lucas. Lucas gave him a weird look then turned back to the front.
“Finn, Mika and Henry have gone to the mall to chill; they said they’d be back at home later…” Lucas informed us.
“Alright…” I mumbled mentally fist pumping, the twins could be pretty annoying at times…
I turned to look at Brandon who had a smirk on his face, “First stop-“
“CUPPA CAKE CAFÉ!” The three of us shouted in union, shocking Brandon a little. Cuppa Cake Café is the best café in the whole damn world! It’s also kinda a tradition to go there when the trio is not with us. Brandon chuckled then started the engine. He drove out of the car park and toward the Café, while I turned on the radio.
McFly’s new song ‘Love Is Easy’ came on and I started humming to it. I absolutely love singing; it’s pretty much my life. Brandon leaned towards me; “Sing…” he whispered his eyes still on the road. I turned to see Keith and Lucas looking hopefully at me with their puppy dog eyes, damn… No one can resist their puppy dog eyes, evil boys. I sighed then turned to the front waiting for the chorus to come on. I breathed in and sang with the music.
“If this is love then love is easy
It's the easiest thing to do.

I looked over at the boys and they were smiling like crazy, “You’re really good Ash…” Keith smiled, holding his phone near me. My eyes widened and I looked over at Lucas who was smirking cheekily. Oh No they didn’t!
“Give me your phone Keith…” I growled, keeping eye contact.
“Why should I do that?” Keith asked, smirking once again. His smile then turned goofy, “Nah jokes! I didn’t record you singing…” he smiled, showing his phone, the screen was blank. “I know the consequences of messing with you… and my phone ran out of battery…”
I let out a sigh of relief, hearing Lucas and Keith laughing. Wonder what the two are up to? I soon felt that the car stop, “Here we are!” Brandon grinned, jumping out of the car and walking toward the entry. The three of us grinned like we were a bunch of children at Christmas. I jumped out and ran to catch up with Brad, the other two following me like baby ducks.
We went up to the receptionist boy who was writing something down and not bothering to look up. I giggled and the boy looked up, “Hey Colton!” I smiled, waving slightly.
“Ashley!” he returned the smile, coming from around the counter and toward me for a hug. He wrapped his arms around me and I did the same.
“Been a long time Ash!” he grinned, releasing me from the hug but he kept one arm around my shoulder. Colton and I have been mates for a while now, his family runs the café and I have gotten to know him since Brandon and I always come here.
Colton led me to our usual seat; his arm was still around me. I heard a low growl from behind me but kept my gaze on the empty corner table. We took our seats, Brandon beside me and the other across us.
Colton took a notepad out from his apron and smiled, “The usual?” each of us nodded and Colton wrote it down quickly, “I’ll be back with the orders soon…” and with that he left.
‘Price Tag’ played quietly in the café; I hummed the song listening to the boys talk about football and all. Can’t they talk about anything else? Soon enough Colton came back with our orders, “RECORD TIME!” I shouted, throwing my hands in the air. The boys looked over at Colton and clapped. Colton let a small grin escape his lips.
Each time we come, Colton comes with our orders only seconds after ordering… “Caramel milkshake with ice-cream. Chocolate Sunday with extra cream. Banana split. And a strawberry milkshake with lots and lots of strawberries!” he handed us our orders and I instantly drank half of my strawberry milkshake…
“Slow down Ashley… You’re gonna get a brain freeze!” Brandon chuckled, eating a mouthful of his Sunday. We ate and chatted until we all finished. Brandon was kind enough to pay for us all. We exited the Café and hopped into the car driving home.

It’s been around an hour since Brandon dropped Keith and me off, and for about an hour I’ve been bored to death. I hung limply off the edge of my bed staring at the door hoping something would happen. Dads gone on another business meeting, and once again has left me her at home. Maybe I should read a book?
“ASHLEY!” I heard a voice yell from behind my door; I sat up and quickly walked over to the door. As I opened the door a body skidded to a stop in front of my door. “Ashley! Mum’s in trouble!” Caitlin shouted, pulling me out of the doorway. Caitlin gave up and raced to Keith’s room calling out his name.
I shook the shock out of my head and ran to Caitlin, “Where is she?” I asked sternly, grabbing a hold of her shoulders.
“She’s out the back and she’s hurt!”
I ran down the stairs and towards the back door. My mother was on the ground, not moving. I ran up to her screaming at her to wake up. I reached her and saw a large cut across her stomach, blood coming out of the wound. I pushed my hand hard on the wound for the blood to stop coming out.
Keith ran to me, as shocked as I was. “Help me pick her up!” I commanded, turning her body and lifting her slightly. He ran forward, picking mum up. The others came and started turning pale. “Finn get the car ready, Mika and Shaun take care of everybody and call dad!” I shouted, running to the car. They followed what I said instantly as I put gently put mum on Finn’s lap and he pushed hard on the wound when I let go.
I ran to the driver’s side and started up the car, waiting for Keith to get in so we could drive to the hospital. In the corner of my eye I saw a shadow moving in the distance near the woods.
One question kept replying in my head; what the hell was that?

NOOOO! NOT MUM! Hopefully she gets better soon.... And what was that shadow that Ashley saw? Hm... Alrighty gonna leave it at that, hope you liked the chapter!!
