Chapter 20: The battle of the east
"Tch, these two really are a pain in the ass."
"Aww, is that a compliment Uzui san?"
"T-this is really beyond us. T-they're t-too strong!"
"Come on Hinitsu! Lets go!"
"How pathetic, just die already humans!"
On the east side of Japan, it was a three versus two battle between humanity and demons. The trio pillar and former pillar are having difficult times even though they have the higher number advantage. The two demons they're up against seems to be lovers and with both working together hinders their progress to get rid of the demons.
"You pesky humans! Die!"
"Don't get too stressed out dear."
"Sound breathing, fifth form: String performance!"
"Beast breathing, fourth fang: Slice 'n' dice!"
"Thunder breathing, first form: Thunderclap and flash! Sixfolds!"
The trio kept on charging in for an attack but the demons always managed to block and attack at the same time pushing them back several times. Nonetheless, they kept on attacking like a barrage and kept on retrieving only to be pushed back once more.
"Just give up you stupid mortals." Said the male with a black and white striped haori
"Who says you're different huh?" Uzui sarcastically said
"You're nothing more than lowly humans who eats other humans just for fun." Zenitsu said
"That's a rather crude way of saying it. Would you like a second opinion?" Mitsuri suggested
"Here's my opinion you dumb bitch! Go to hell already!" Inosuke shouted
"Well then this is where it ends." Obanai said
"Blood demon art: Restricting coil." Obanai
"Blood demon art: Love lust." Mitsuri
"Sound breathing, first form: Roar!" Uzui
"Beast breathing, second fang: Slice!" Inosuke
"Thunder breathing, first form: Thunderclap and flash!" Zenitsu
With the barrage of attacks kept on piling, both sides shows no weakness nor strength as if both were at the same level. Uzui was a shinobi once and he uses something he called, the score. It was his battle plan by analysing the opponent movement and convert them into sound. Just like a well played orchestra, if he found an opening in the song, he can strike it with great effect on the battle. But after constantly going back and forth, they haven't made even a single progress. They group up to think of a plan.
"Alright, this ain't gonna work." Zenitsu said in disappointment
"Well, no wonder. One has a really good offence and the other had the ability to control others body." Uzui stated
"Hey, flashy god. Got any plan?" Inosuke asked
"Of course i do. I have analyse them both and my guess its best to strike them at the back." Uzui concluded
"From the back? And who's responsible for that mammoth task?" Zenitsu reluctantly asked
"Well, i was thinking me and this boar head go and distract distract them while you go strike them."
"Me?! Why am i the bait?"
"You're not the bait Monitsu, we are you idiot!" Inosuke shouted
"Did i just got called an idiot by an idiot?!"
"No time to waste. Lets finish them quick."
With the new profound plan, they immediately went ahead to execute it. Zenitsu disappeared into the forest covers while the other two distracts the couple demons. All they did was charging forward and disperse trying to confuse the enemy.
"Is this the best you can do?! Don't make me laugh!"
"Lets show them dear."
"Blood demon art: Serpentine confinement."
"Blood demon art: Hypnotic love."
"Not today demons!"
"We're gonna rip you to shreds!" Inosuke exclaim
"Sound breathing, third form: Static wave!"
"Beast breathing, eight fang: Explosive rush!"
With a few large snake figure was summoned, the four goes head to head against each other. Inosuke narrowly avoids the snakes and the spells doesn't work on him while Uzui was struggling a bit but manages to break through in between. Both were very close to slice the demons neck, but got pushed away by a sudden shockwaves vibrating through the air.
"This is really fun and all but we need to end this soon dear." Mitsuri said
"No worries my goddess, they're already worn out. The next time will not ended with them alive. Don't you agree yellow boy?" Obanai said
As he turns around, he sees the man holding his blade close to neck like the others but was caught by one of Mitsuri's love spells. Zenitsu aren't able to move look into the eyes of a true demons. Before he knows it, he got side kicked by his gut sending him flying across the field slamming right into a tree snapping it in half. Inosuke look at the openings and decided to take it.
"Beast breathing, eight form: Explosive rush!"
"Oi boar kid! Wait!"
"Hiiaaaarrgghhh!!!" Inosuke screaming on the top of his lungs
"You still don't get it do you?"
"Blood demon art: Drunken love."
A sudden burst of shockwaves spread around the area in a ring formation with the ability to reduce ones movements into a stiff statue. Just before the shockwaves hit him, Inosuke jumped high in the air avoiding the spells completely. He continues to advance at a very inhuman pace. Eventually, he manages to get close to the woman and swings his blades aiming for her neck. It was so close to her neck when he suddenly stopped. He dropped both his blades and fallen to the ground. He felt immense pain on his back.
From Uzui's perspectives, he sees the short man had stabbed the hunter with a pair of fangs oozing with some sort of liquids. He stood there not knowing what to do as he himself had ran out of stamina. His score no longer works as everything has definitely gone south for him.
"You really are a stupid one aren't you?" Obanai said
"What. Is this?" Inosuke strained
"This is a pair of snake fangs. Not only it was sharp but also contains poison. You'll be dead in not time."
"You. Bastard!" Inosuke shouted
"Now what should we do about him dear?" Mitsuri asked
"We shall end his misery life as he is reaching the end of the line himself."
"Hey, i'm still young you know?!" Uzui annoyed
"Well that doesn't matter now isn't it. Time to finally lay you down for good."
"Ah crap."
With Uzui left facing them alone once again, he knew that he would have no chance against them. Nonetheless, he readied his twin blades for another round of assault. Just as both party about to move, a thunder strikes the area and shook both sides. They look towards the now burning trees and in the middle of them stands a figure looking menacing.
"Who! The hell! Woke! Me! Up?!" Said the man upset
His voice echoed throughout the field and instantly, they recognise that voice. In an instant, he was gone from the trees and appears right besides Obanai. This startled Obanai and he jumped back in shock to see the man he had just beaten came back with a dark aura surrounding him.
"Who. Dare. Woke. Me. Up?" The man question
"Z-Zenitsu?" Uzui stuttered
"That's. Not him. Its, R-Rai." Inosuke fearfully said
"Inosuke kun. Did you woke me up?" Rai asked menacingly
"N-no. It was him. He did it." Inosuke pointed towards Obanai
"W-who are you?!" Obanai questioned
"He's scary. What's with his aura?" Mitsuri pointed out
"What's your name boy?" Rai pointed to Obanai
"Boy?! Who are you calli-" He got cut off
"I repeat, what. Is. Your. Name. Boy?" He repeats in a more menacing tone
"?!?! O-Obanai. Iguro Obanai." Obanai replied
"Well then, Obanai. Have you forgotten your manners?"
"W-what?" Obanai confused
"Its rude to wake a person up when they're deep in slumber. Didn't you know that?"
"Who are you exactly?" Obanai asked cautiously
"Rai is the name. And that's all you will need to know about me. Because unfortunately, i have to teach you a lesson or rather, kill you cold blood style."
"No! You won't do that to my fiance! I won't let you!" Mitsuri retorted
"And who are you miss?" Rai asked
"She's with him. They both leads the demons squad."
"Is that true?" Rai asking for confirmation
"And why does that matter to you?!" Obanai getting irritated
"Because that will give me plenty of reasons to kill you both love birds."
"Blood demon art: Rise of the serpent!"
"Blood demon art: Love angles!"
As the ground littered with snakes of all sorts and the dark night skies filled with angry Cupid shooting love arrows from their bow. But oddly enough, the man didn't even attempted to dodge it, instead he walks right through the snakes and incredibly the snakes got out of the way. The Cupid however are successful at hitting the target but he didn't seem to be affected by it whatsoever. He kept on closing the gaps making the couples getting more panicked.
"What are you all doing?! Attack him already!" Obanai commanded but failed
"He got hit but he isn't falling for my spells." Mitsuri panicked
"That's because your spells only work on the subconscious minds of someone. And since i'm literally the thing you're trying to control, its no use."
"Ah crap, run away dear!"
"Oh no you don't."
"Thunder breathing,"
"Blood demon art: Coil of darkness!"
"First form: Thunderclap and flash! Sixfolds!"
With the last desperate attempt of killing the mysterious man, he spread out a dark coil around the man with the hope it will work. But it didn't even bother Rai. The area suddenly lit up with several lightning bolt striking on the ground. Uzui had already taken Inosuke away from the area and witness the night turns into day for a split second. Only after his vision returns to normal, the result was apparent. Both Mitsuri and Obanai began to turn into dust with Rai standing there all alone.
"He's done it. That brat has bloody done it." Uzui said in astonishment
"Hey flashy god. Can you at least pull these fangs out first?" Inosuke complains
"Oh yeah. Sorry about that."
"You really just picked me up while these things still inside my body."
"And i was surprised you weren't dead yet."
"Of course i wasn't dead. I'm the king of the mountain after all."
"You really didn't change much over the years do you?"
"Shut up and pull them out already for god sake."
After Uzui pulled out the pair of snake fangs left behind by Obanai, Inosuke springs right up as if nothing had happened to him. Inosuke looks at him with one word on his mind.
"Thanks."
"Uh, you're welcome? Is he okay?"
"We should go check on Monitsu."
"I agree."
The two men approaches the yellow haired man with cautions as he's been standing alone for quite some time. Both are definitely scared as he alone manages to defeat the two strong demons with ease.
"Monitsu?"
"Again, who is this Monitsu?" Rai being annoyed
"Sorry, my apologies. Uh, Guy?"
"Its Rai! How can you messed up so many names?!"
"Okay, what's happening here? Who is this Rai? Where is Zenitsu?" Uzui questioned
"I'm Rai. Zenitsu is currently not waking up for some reason."
"Is he dead?"
"No! Who are you?! Are you one of them?"
"Wait, no he's not. He's a former pillar." Inosuke explains
"What's a former pillar?"
"Are you serious right now?" Uzui smirked
"What do you two want?" Rai asked
"Well, actually we were about to ask you for a favour." Uzui said
"Oh, and what is it?"
"Help us defeat those demons. About twenty hunters died from them and they're like fifty of those demons." Uzui said
"Fifty? Well i can take half while he can take the other half. What do you say Rai?" Inosuke suggested
"No need. Just watch."
Rai look towards the general directions where the hunters who are still struggling with the invincible demons are. He got down into his stance and immediately they can feel the air vibrating.
"Thunder breathing, first form: Thunderclap and flash. Thousands folds."
They both watches the ground break and the man before them vanishes into thin air. Lightning strikes the area multiple times lighting up the sky into day for a solid minute. Once again, the result was clear. All the demons are ripped to shreds and are now disintegrating into nothing but dust. Inosuke and Uzui looked at each other and shrug it off as they went ahead to help the injured hunters befallen from their previous earlier battle.

"Who are you calling a missy huh?"
"For a water breath user, you sure have a fiery heart."
"To deliver your punishment, and to avenge your father. I will do what it takes to bring you down."
"Well lets see if you will succeed or not, m'lady."
