Lucifer POV:
It was the week before the detective's birthday and I knew I had to get her something that had a personal meaning behind it. The problem was that I had no idea what to get her as her birthday present, and then I remembered about the bullet that I kept after I insisted that the detective shoot me to prove a point.
Which, that happened a while back in our partnership, but I thought at least this present will give the detective a good laugh. So I headed to the nearest jewelry store which happened to be on the east coast of Los Angeles. The manager of this establishment had owed me a favor, so the custom necklace I bought was free instead of being almost a thousand dollars.

It was now the day of the detective's birthday and her special birthday necklace was locked away in a safe behind a painting that is in my penthouse. After getting ready I headed to the precinct because you know even the devil has a job.
When I went inside the precinct red and blue rave lights were flashing and music was playing, there was also a giant fake cake that I guess had someone hidden inside.
My guess was correct because this stripper dressed as a police man popped out. I decided to join in so I went and grabbed two sirens and placed them on my chest and started to dance around. Dan walked up to me and had asked, "did you do this" and I replied "nope." All of the sudden Ella started showering the detective with one dollar bills.
The detective asked, "was this you" Miss Lopez replied with, "yep make it rain birthday girl!" as she ran away. Suddenly I got a phone call from the LVPD, they said that apparently my ex candy was murdered. Instead of bothering the detective on her birthday I walked out of the main room and into Miss Lopez's lab because no one was in there at the moment.

Chloe POV:
I saw Lucifer answer a phone call and walk into Ella's lab, but I didn't think anything of it until I saw Ella also walk in. I walked over to the door and was trying to listen until I heard him say, "I don't wanna bother the detective." "I'll just pop over to sin city and then come back." After I walked in I asked him what he was going to investigate but he said and I quote, "nothing for you to worry about, except getting older."
He said that as him and Ella were pushing past me to get the elevator, I followed them of course but Lucifer kept telling that I shouldn't worry and that I should "shake my booty while I still can." I gave him my best puppy dog eyes and pleaded, "but....it's my birthday."
He said, "exactly"and then Ella threw some one dollar bills out the elevator doors.

After the precinct fiasco, I headed to Linda's office. I just pulled up into the parking lot and headed inside the building. I knocked on her door but I didn't here anyone so I opened the door. I saw Linda eating her lunch. She asked me what was wrong and I explained, "well, have you heard from Lucifer I had a question about a case and I can't seem to get a hold of him." Linda looked shocked and asked, "no why, has something happened."
"No nothings happened, I was just we were at the precinct celebrating my birthday and then all of the sudden him and Ella left without so much as an explanation." "But it's probably just Lucifer being Lucifer....probably." I know that Linda could here the indecisiveness in my voice but she asked the question that I was avoiding. She asked, "do you want me to go with you to Lucifers to check if he's there." I replied, "please"
With that we headed off to lucifers. Once we got into Lux, we headed up to his penthouse. Linda was the first one to leave the elevator and she noticed his carry on was missing but the good news was that there were no sheets on the furniture. I knew this was a bad idea, so I told Linda, "this is stupid you know it's my birthday we should be celebrating." She told me, "yes let's go celebrate then."
"Wait a minute Chloe I know a place with the best sound system and all the top shelf you can drink." We stopped the elevator doors from closing and walked back into the penthouse.
I walked into lucifers bedroom and stole one of his white button ups because why not.

5 drinks, a phone call from Lucifer, and a dance party later me and Linda were both exhausted. I was playing the piano and Linda suggested, "let's go see what's in his sock drawer".
"Linda Martin your his therapist!" Linda said, "please there's nothing I don't know about Lucifer Morningstar except what's in his sock drawer."
We decided on going to look in his sock drawer so I walked over and asked, "where are my pants, I was wearing pants." And then I tripped and knocked over his painting on his wall. When I knocked it over I saw that there was a safe in the wall. Then Linda asked, "ohhh are you ok." I replied with, "screw the sock drawer."
We spent a total of 2 hours trying to unlock his safe and I was trying different combinations, and finally I tried one that made the most sense and I yelled, "dammit 666 didn't work either." Linda suggested, try 8008." I asked, "8008?" "Spells boob." So I put in 8008 but that didn't work either.
I gave in and called Dan. Dan brought a power drill and spackle, which I guess was just in case we broke something.
As Dan was trying to open the safe with the drill lol he put a hole in lucifers wall so he said he would be right back because he went to grab the spackle from his car.
There was an awkward silence between me and Linda until I said, " you know he left on my birthday and I wasn't expecting a big party or anything huge maybe a card." "I just hate that I sound jealous, cause I'm not." "I'm not jealous he's just my friend ya know."
"I know, Lucifer is a non traditional man Chloe." "He celebrates in non traditional ways." I looked at Linda and said, "right like going to Vegas with some radish." "Chloe Lucifer cares for you, I'm sure he's gonna come back with some crazy explanation-" I cut her off, "that I'll probably never here about.. and that's fine it's totally fine."
Right after we were done talking Dan walked back in with the spackle. It was getting pretty late and we had work the next morning so I told Linda and Dan I was going to bed. They said they were also going to bed, by this time it was midnight and Lucifer had missed my birthday and I have to admit I was a little disappointed but mostly sad.
I lay awake in lucifers bed thinking about how I'm laying here alone is his bed when I wanted to be laying with him with his hands holding me. I knew that wasn't going to happen, so I rolled over in his big king size bed and curled up in the sheets and fell asleep.

Lucifer POV:
I just got back from a day trip to sin city with miss Lopez. I parked outside of Lucifer and threw Patrick the keys so he could put my car in the valet parking and I headed inside.
Once I entered the penthouse I noticed Dan and Linda passed out on the couch and shoes thrown everywhere. I said, "I don't know what your doing here, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the fact that I wasn't." They looked more dead then asleep so I picked up Linda's hand and smacked Dan with it and they moved so now that I knew that they were actually sleeping, I wanted a drink.
As I was walking toward the bar I noticed the detective asleep in my bed so I went over to check on her.
I walked up my bedroom stairs and noticed that they were trying to open my safe and I said, "well someone's been busy."
I opened my safe and got the box out of the safe and sat down on the bed right next to the detective and I told her in my softest voice, "the truth is I went to Las Vegas, and even though it was for good reason." "The last time I went on a Vegas jaunt there were some very unpleasant feelings involved for both of us." "I didn't want to bring of them up again so I bluffed which I now realize is the same thing as lying." "And that's something I never want to do especially to you."
After my speech I heard her yawn and I said, "oh you've woken up just in time for your surprise."
She asked, "A surprise, what surprise?" I told her, "well I felt it prudent to deliver your gift in private." I gave her the box so she could open it. When she opened it her face lit up like a Christmas tree, she looked so happy I knew I made the right choice in her birthday gift. She asked, "Lucifer what is it?"
"Detective it's the bullet when you shot me, remember in the warehouse." She said, "oh yeah I remember."
I had said, "I figured since I'd never likely penetrate you, I commemorated the one time you penetrated me." I heard her laugh, and it was like music to my ears.
She leaned in and hugged me and in that moment I felt like we both were right where we were supposed to be.
We pulled apart from our hug and she asked, "hey Luce what is the combination to your safe, I'm just curious."
"Oh my sneaky detective, if you must know it's 10-6-78."

Chloe POV:
I looked at him shocked. The password to his safe was my birthday, I couldn't believe it. I felt I tear roll down my cheek and I watched him lift his hand and wipe it away.
"Stay with me tonight please" I begged because I wanted to be wrapped in his arms just for the time being because I knew tomorrow that things would go back to normal.
He didn't say a thing. I was worried he wasn't going to stay but then he said, "ok, just let me change ok." Then he walked away to his bathroom and I fell back into the mattress.
He came back out and I felt him lay on the mattress and then he put his arms around my waist. I snuggled into his touch.
I knew that as long as he was with me, I was safe.
I heard him whisper, "good night Chloe" and then he pressed a featherlight kiss to the top of my head. With that I lulled off into a peaceful slumber.
