The next few weeks were hectic, may sudden oral recitations kami for almost every period. "We only have four more clothes nalang to shoot, it's better if we finish it. Kung okay lang sa staff." Zosia sighed and nodded before going out of the dressing room. Pumwesto ako sa gitna ng backdrop habang dala-dala ang isang mini-fan. Napansin ko si Tita Nevie na nagbibigay ng pagkain sa staff at maya-maya ay nginitian ako.
My friend was enthusiastic of her clothing brand. Zash will be finally opening next month and the PR team decided to have teasers about the face of the brand kaya naman ay pagkatapos nito, pupunta ako sa kabilang studio para sa teaser.
Pinunasan ni Ate Cass ang pawis ko para hindi masira ang make-up ko, "Okay! Let's continue." the photographer announced. I smiled and did a lot of poses, nandoon sa monitor si Zosia at ang team ko nanonood sa mga kuha ng photographer. My feet were sore and were dying but I still had to finish my work kaya naman ay ngumiti nalang ako para hindi ko maisip ang nangangawit kong paa.
"Let's move your shooting tomorrow, masyado nang malalim ang gabi." I heard my manager say as I was packing my things to move to the next studio, I looked at her and shook my head. "Huwag na po, ayos pa naman ako. And I have to be at the campus the whole day tomorrow, ayaw kong madali ang team so we need to get there now."
My head throbbed at the thought of reciting again, I drank my water and sat at the backseat. I took the opportunity to take a quick rest while we were driving to the studio, this was probably one of the most tiring shoots I've ever done.
Ginising rin naman ako ni Ate Cass right away, I yawned and got out of the van to walk inside the building. I changed into a somewhat fairy-like vintage ruffled dress, it was in white and I had to be barefoot. Napatingin ako kay Ate Cass nang tinawag niya ako, "Rheagan's calling." I accepted my phone and turned it off.
Baka mamaya ko na siya i-uupdate sa kung ano na ang ginagawa ko, it was time to do my work. 'I'm sure he'll understand', I thought.
"Anong oras ka ba nakatulog last night? You look like you're about to pass out." Sissy commented in the middle of college algebra, I layed my head down on the armchair and closed my eyes. My fatigue didn't let me survive the rest of the morning period, "There's no recits na in the afternoon, free tayo for two periods." Sissy informed me.
That felt so good to hear, I just wanted to lay down and sleep. I got home at two in the morning earlier and had to wake up at six to review my notes. I groaned and decided to skip lunch, gusto ko nalang matulog.
I pressed the floor button and leaned my head on the wall of the elevator, my head was aching so bad that I felt like throwing up. "Hey Sissy?" Tinawagan ko ang kaibigan ko, "Oh no, are you okay lang ba? Tell me if hindi ka makakapasok for the last period ha! I'll excuse you!" I smiled and felt relieved.
Tumango ako at nagpasalamat bago bumaba sa elevator at sabay ring ibinaba ang tawag. I took out my key fob and was about to insert it when I saw Rheagan leaning on my pad's wall, "Hey." he cooed.
I smiled briefly and opened the door, naglakad ako patungo sa couch at humiga doon. "I'll get you water." He said after touching my forehead, ni hindi ko namalayan na nilalagnat na pala ako. He immediately got back and assisted me, "I was too busy to call you back last night, masama rin ang pakiramdam ko." he nodded and brushed my hair gently with his fingers.
I woke up on my bed at night, he probably carried me to my bedroom para maayos ang tulog ko. "Rheagan?" I called inside my room, nagbabakasakaling nandito pa siya. I heard Bella's small barks instead kaya nagbukas ako ng pinto at sinalubong siya.
I walked towards the kitchen and saw Rheagan wearing the black apron we bought when we went out shopping, "I thought you went home." naglakad ako papunta sa kanya at niyakap siya.
He stirred the porridge with his right hand while his left hand was on me hugging me back while soothing me.
Nakatingin lang si Rheagan sa akin habang kumakain ako, I was aking kung hindi ba siya gutom pero umiling lang siya at sinabing ayos lang daw siya. "You need to change your clothes before you sleep, okay? And if you get hungry, initin mo lang ang lugaw na ginawa ko kanina." Bilin niya habang umiinom ako ng gamot,
"Uuwi ka na?" I asked. He hummed while throwing the plastic residue of the medicine I drank. "I have training since malapit na ang UAAP." Kinuha niya ang bag niya bago ako tinapunan ng tingin, "Get well soon, and sleep early." ginulo niya ang buhok ko bago ako niya ako binigyan ng mabilis na yakap.
Rheagan walked out of the room while Bella and I waved at him, "I'll check on you later." tumango ako at tumayo para magbihis na.
Thankfully my fever was gone immediately, sinabihan din ako ni Ate Cass na she will not be accepting that many shoots para may oras ako na makapagpahinga rin.
Kasalukuyan kaming naglalakad ni Cassius patungo sa Benilde para sunduin si Naimh dahil may dinner kami later with the girls. "Ayos na nga ako." I told Rheagan again, "Baka mabinat ka, just don't do too much work. I'll go na." I rolled my eyes playfully.
"Excuse me, Mr. Grimes. It's been two whole weeks na kaya, may ganyan ba!?" He chuckled before saying he'll end the call.
With the launching of Zosia's brand, it had a huge impact on the netizens. Tita Nevie is one of the most pioneer actress in the country and Zosia was a celebrity too. Hindi ko inakalang ganoon ka grabe ang kakalabasan ng news.
"Imogen, you have seven hundred thousand followers on your social media accounts right?" Cassius showed me my account, humalukipkip ako at napatango na lamang. "It boosted to a hundred followers overnight when Zash's teaser came out." He nodded and smiled, "That's nice to hear then." I patted his arm and pointed at Naimh's school before walking again.
"Khaleesi!" Hiyaw ko nang makita ko siyang naglalakad papasok sa restaurant, "Oh my God! I've missed you so much, babe!" tumayo ako at niyakap siya. She laughed and hugged me back, Huey was still on the road with Zosia and Saoirse papunta dito. Naimh had a sly smile when greeting out friend, they get each other so much kaya hinayaan ko silang mag-catch-up.
We took a lot of photos dahil first time naming nagkita na kompleto kami, being away with my long time friends made me realize how much I really missed them. "I saw Imo and Zosia on the local news last night, nakita ko 'yong teaser it was amazing." Saoirse commented. Napangiti ako nang makita kong napapadalas na ang pagngiti niya.
Their chatters made me feel warm kaya nagtago ako ng ngiti, "Elle had a dating rumor with a rookie actor, balita ko." kinalabit ko si Huey. "Ah yes, they're actually working together lang. Elle was a hot topic sa Ateneo dahil doon." The Philippine media likes romantic rumors so much huh?
I posted a picture of with Zosia to confirm their assumptions, since na-reveal na naman ang mukha ako sa official webpage nila ay ginawa ko nalang din 'yon. "I wouldn't be surprised if you and Rheagan will be on the news for dating assumptions." Biro ni Mai, I poked her side kaya naman ay napatawa siya.
"Hindi mo pa sinasagot? Ano ba 'yan, Imogen. Akala ko ba jowang-jowa ka na?" Aniya habang umiinom ng iced tea. "Ilang buwan ka na niyang nililigawan?" She asked again, I counted the months and showed my fingers, "Almost five months." sagot ko.
Nasira ang mukha ni Zosia at ngumwi siya, "Ang pakipot mo rin. Baka pinapaasa mo siya ah." she turned her back at me to talk to Khaleesi.
I was scared of that but with my recent actions parang ganoon ang ginagawa ko, I had no intentions pa na sagutin si Rheagan dahil parang ayaw ko pa. But I like him, sobra. I just can't afford to hurt myself again dahil lang sa pag-ibig. Huminga ako ng malalim bago nakipag-usap ulit sa mga kaibigan ko.
September came, and Naimh wanted us to have a costume party dahil birthday rin ni Cassius on the first day, early halloween daw. Ang dami talagang alam nang dalawang 'yon.
Which most of my friends agreed kaya nahila rin nila ako, I decided to be Betty Boop and had my make-up done with my team before. "Very sexy naman!" Naimh peeked at me when I finally got done dressing up.
"Ano kayo ni Cash?" Tumayo ako at nagtakip ng blanket dahil sa suot ko.
"Strawberry and shit!?" Napatawa ako ng malakas nang makita ang costume nila, Naimh was the strawberry and Cassius was literally shit. For the pictures lang daw, magbibihis rin daw kaagad sila after.
My make-up team took a lot of pictures of me para daw i-post nila sa make-up account nila. I helped them in cleaning the room para hindi na sila mahirapan, "Nako, salamat, Imogen!" I nodded and smiled.
I grabbed my bag and got out of the room not forgetting to say thank you to them again, "Imogen ikaw na muna sa front seat, baka masira ang costume ko." Naimh gleefully grinned, Cassius took off his poo costume dahil he will be the one driving. Pumasok ako sa sasakyan at tiningnan kung ayos lang ba si Naimh sa likod.
She gave me a thumbs-up before telling her boyfriend to drive, hindi raw makakapunta si Sha at si Huey dahil may importanteng subject silang papasukan bukas. We got off the club and we were immediately greeted by Khaleesi who was dressing up as Katniss from The Hunger Games.
"Ay hindi bagay sayo ang Katniss, pandak ka eh." Naimh teased Khaleesi again,
"At least hindi ako tae. Joke. Happy birthday, Cash!" tinapik niya si Cassius sa braso at binati.
Pumasok kami sa loob at kaagad na napuno bg bati para kay Cassius, it was funny looking at Cassius' costume at first but he didn't mind dahil gusto niyang mapasaya ang kaibigan ko. He loved Naimh so much that he doesn't care about his appearance anymore.
It was a Friday kaya naman ay marami-rami ang nainom ko, I posted a story with Zosia and I doing a love shot. Lachlan was there guarding my friend like the kill joy he is, Zosia was Juliet and Lachlan was Romeo. It was so cute na I had to take a lot of pictures.
"Paano mo napapayag?" I danced along with Zosia, "Ayaw niya sanang isuot 'yan kaso hinalikan ko lang sa pisngi um-oo agad. Kinilig siya matapos akong mag-pacute." I jokingly winced kaya naman ay nakatanggap ako ng batok mula sa kanya.
"It's scary how love can make you do the things you never expected to do." Rinig kong sabi ni Lachlan habang umiinom ng rum and coke.
Hindi siguro pupunta si Rheagan dahil may training siya, I shrugged and danced with Zosia. Nasa table si Khaleesi at si Naimh they were talking and Khaleesi was frowning but she then laughed probably after Naimh cracked a joke.
I'm pretty sure marami na akong drunk videos sa gallery ng mga kaibigan ko, Zosia had so much fun in filming me. Hindi raw ako marunog magtwerk sabi niya, ngumuso ako at uminom ng isa pang shot. "Happy birthday, Cassius! Salamat sa libreng tagay!" Napatawa ang mga kaibigan ko nang sabihin ko iyon, Cassius gave me a pat on the back before pointing at the counter.
"Ayan na ang babakuran sayo." He said out loud and giggled before walking away to find his girlfriend. Tumingin ako sa counter at nakita si Rheagan na nakatingin sa akin habang nakahalukipkip, I gave him a small smile before walking towards him. "Hi! I thought hindi ka pupunta?" Bigla niyang ipinakita ang conversation nila ni Zosia, it was full of my drunk videos earlier!
Sumubungera talaga si Zosia ewan ko nalang, "Sana matapilok ka Zosia 'no?" she showed me a peace-sign before pulling Lachlan towards the dancefloor. Pinaupo ako ni Rheagan at pinainom ako ng tubig, "Wala naman akong pasok bukas kasi." pagsisimula ko. He nodded and drank his rum and coke, "I don't have schedules din." inulit niya lang ang ginawa niya kanina.
"Say something naman!" Bahagya ko siyang itinulak, he was wearing a black shirt with grey slacks, basa rin ang kanyang buhok. He went here right after his training!
"You look cute in your costume."
He's not mad! Okay, that's good. Akala ko galit siya dahil sa mga videos ko kanina. "Hindi ka galit?" I grinned, he quickly stole a glance at me before smiling,
"No. I'm happy that you're enjoying the party." and just like that, the butterflies inside my stomach went wild.
Dahil sa kilig na naramdaman ko ay napanguso ako ng palihim. I was feeling myself so much that my friends were finding me funny to look at, to make the story short, I was already wasted. Hinubad ko ang wig ko dahil sa init na dala nito, Rheagan was picking up my things and helping me walk properly.
"Nako i-uwi mo na 'to." Rinig kong reklamo ni Naimh, I was wearing her strawberry costume and Rheagan was laughing at the side taking pictures of me, I tripped because of the shoes that came with the costume. I laughed at my state, lasing na lasing na ako. Rheagan helped me take off the costume and that was the last thing I could remember.
Hindi ko nga alam kung paano ako nakauwi, my head felt like it was gonna break into two any second now kaya bumalik ako sa pagkakahiga. Nakabihis narin ako, but my red dress was still on me, underneath my shirt. "Bella?" I heard Rheagan's voice outside, Bella was scratching my door again probably hoping to get inside.
"Your mom is still asleep, mamaya na natin siya gisingin." Rinig kong sabi niya sa labas, I peeked at the window and saw that it was already morning. Humikab ako at napabaling sa telepono ko na tumutunog, my manager was calling me. I scratched my head and answered the phone with one eye open.
"I sent you a headline, tingnan mo iyon." Ate Cass went straight to the point right away, binuksan ko ang link at nakita ko ang sarili ko na papasok sa sasakyan, this was last night.
And I was with Cassius!? What is happening!? "Po? Cassius is my friend's boyfriend!" I exclaimed, napatayo ako at lumabas sa kwarto. Rheagan who was playing with Bella also stopped to look at me. "Marami nang nagsasabi na kaya ka daw sumali sa party ay dahil sa boyfriend mo ang kaibigan mo."
I palmed my face and sighed deeply, naglakad si Rheagan patungo sa akin, "What's wrong?" he mouthed. I continued reading the article and saw that they took more pictures pa pala! Iyong lumapit ako kay Cassius para bumati.
Oh my God! Baka nakita kami ni Rheagan ng paparazzi last night, hindi pa naman niya ako iniwan matapos akong nalasing. This was messed up, "I'll call you later Ate Cass, tatawagan ko lang si Naimh." binaba ko ang tawag para matawagan si Naimh.
"Anong kailangan mo 'te?" Halatang kakagising lang ni Naimh, I heard Cassius' voice in the background asking why I called. "Uh, Cassius is on the headline." I informed her, Rheagan pulled me to sit down, napaupo ako at tumingin sa kanya na binabasa ang article.
"Huh!? Nagbayad na naman kami sa club kagabi bago kami umuwi! Hoy Cassius Keegan! Anong ginawa mo kagabi ha!?" Kahit kailan talaga 'tong si Naimh, napailing ako,
I dismissed her thoughts immediately. "No, someone made a dating rumor about me and Cassius."
Natahimik siya sa kabilang linya at ilang minuto pa ay napahalakhak siya ng malakas na malakas, "Sikat ka na raw, babe. Don't mind it Imogen, akala lang nila na kayo tapos nandito pala siya nakahiga sa tabi ko." she assured me.
Rheagan surpressed a ghost smile before pulling me for a hug, "This is funny." he commented after seeing the photos and the article. Tinampal ko ang braso niya kaya napatawa siya, "Stop laughing." nguso ko, ngunit dahil sa tawa niya ay napatawa nalang din ako.
Bakit bigla nalang akong nagkaroon ng issue? Model lang ako yet the media had a scoop about me. Rheagan had to leave early while I was called to the office for clarifications kaya sabay na kaming bumaba, Tita Rachel was waitig for me sa taas kaya sinamahan na rin niya ako.
"I'm sorry for that Imogen, ano na ang balita sa kaibigan mo?" Kaagad na tanong ni Tita Rach, "It was okay, I'm pretty sure it'll die soon po. Naimh is very proud of her boyfriend kaya makikita sila siguro ang photos nila sa social media. And besides, Naimh was there at the backseat." tumango si Tita at kagaad na sinabihan ang secretary niya na maglabas ng statement.
"Your followers have sky-rocketed, hija. Kung hindi lang dahil sa pag-aaral mo ay tinaggap na ni Cass ang offers sayo, but I had to butt in with the request dahil kakasimula mo palang sa kolehiyo." I was told to lay low dahil sa issue, I tried checking my social media accounts to see if nalaman na nilang kaibigan ko lang si Cassius at boyfriend siya ni Naimh.
I ran to meet Rheagan as I saw him waiting for me outside the campus, he was wearing a pale yellow hoodie with his white mask down to his chin. He had his black backpack with him while his right hand was holding a cup of iced coffee.
What a sight.
"Hey, how was your day?" Ibinaba niya ang ballcap ko bago niya isinuot ang kanyang mask. I clinged onto him while walking to our new found ice cream shop. The new UAAP Season will start tomorrow and his game will be on the fifth day of September. "Same same, free ako sa competition mo. I'll go there disguised." I chuckled at the thought.
"I'll betray my school muna para i-support kita." I joked, but then he agreed by humming. "We'll have dinner after with our friends. Hindi pa tayo nakompleto." Kuripot si Rheagan but when he invited his friends to go to his competition in exchange for a free kebab party ay kaagad silang sumang-ayon.
"Mga walang hiya talaga kayo, libre lang ang hanap niyo." Sinuntok niya si Qwerty habang papunta kami sa venue, "Si Imogen parang bomber, ano 'yang suot mo?" pang-aasar ni Qwerty. Bumelat lang ako at naglakad ng mabilis para makapuwesto kaagad. Rheagan is a rising star athlete, maraming sumusuporta sa kanya dahil sa pagkapanalo niya sa SEA Games noon. And I read a comment saying that she'll support Rheaze kasi gwapo daw siya.
"I'll go change now, malapit na kami." Paalam niya matapos niyang makitang nandito na kami lahat, "Do you think I'll win?" kaagad akong tumango with no second thoughts. "Of course, you're Rheagan!" Bakit parang lagi nalang akong kinakabahan basta may laban si Rheagan?
"Good luck." I gave him a quick kiss on the cheeks before shoving him away para makapagbihis na siya. "Ay iba! Iba talaga!" I heard Naimh say, kahit nasa gilid kami ay nakamasid parin pala sila. Mga chismosa talaga.
"Cheer for me?" I had a nervous smile before nodding and walking away, I wore my mask as I went inside the indoor pool. "Mananalo na si Rheagan sure ako, kasi may lucky kiss." They immediately started teasing me as soon as I sat on the bench.
Rheagan was on the third lane and was called, the cheers for him were crazy. Ngayon ko lang nakita ang ganitong audience sa swimming competition ng UAAP since the games that were highlighted were basketball and volleyball.
"Putangina nahawakan mo na 'yan, Imogen!?"
Mura ni Naimh matapos lumabas si Rheagan, I lowered down my mask and cheered. "Babe naman, ako lang 'yong sisigawan mo sana." Tampo ni Cassius, nakaipon siya ng tawa dahil sa sinabi. Napailing ako at pinag-isa ang mga kamay ko dahil sa kaba ko, "One more gold, Rheaze." I whispered.
It was the 200 meter freestyle again, as soon as the buzzer buzzed they immediately dived. Rheagan was good at diving kaya naman ay nakalamang kaagad siya. Oh God! Lumakas ang kaba ko when I saw the contestant for UP catch up to him, but Rheagan's power on his feet was strong so when he reached the other side, he immediately boosted himself to swim back to the starting line.
"Go Rheagan!" Sigaw ko when he was on first on the rally, the shouts of the audience resonated around the hall when Rheagan landed at the first place with twenty-two seconds time. "He broke a record!" Sigaw ko nang maalalang ang pinakamabilis na oras ay twenty-six seconds. "Rheagan set a new record!" I screamed silently, I took off my mask due to the sudden sweat I gained with all that.
"Ang cute ni Imogen." I heard Zosia say something but I was busy waving my hand at Rheagan and jumping up and down on the same place. Humiyaw ako at napangiti, "Got it all in video." napatawa ang mga kaibigan ko sa sinabi ni Zosia. I curiously leaned back to see what they were talking about, they grinned and cheered again.
With his medal on his neck, Rheagan chuckled and greeted me with a big tight hug.
"I heard your cheer, you did good today, my personal cheerleader."
Ginulo niya ang buhok ko pagkatapos niyang sabihin iyon, I congratulated him and laughed when I saw our friends pay one another because of their bet.
Pinagbuksan ako ni Rheagan ng pinto matapos siyang mag-park, he was fast enough to open the door before me. I sat beside him and on my left was Zosia who was busy with using her phone, kaagad kaming nakapag-order at maya-maya ay kumain na rin.
"Ay, dapat pala matagal mo rin akong niligawan, thine. Tingnan mo si Rheagan, nanliligaw pa lang 'yan pero ganyan na ang galawan." Zosia commented, I tilted my head and furrowed my brows.
"Ikaw 'yong nanghabol kay Lachlan as far as I can remember, diba?" Zosia glared at me and smacked me on my lap.
"'To naman, joke nga lang! Huwag ka nalang magsalita, Imogen." Tinakpan niya ang bibig ko habang ngumunguya ako, inabot ko ang tubig at uminom. "Anyway! Kailan mo sasagutin si Rheagan?" I stopped myself from choking while drinking water.
"I- uh.." Hindi ako makasagot kaagad, everyone was looking at me kahit sila Huey, they were expecting my answer. I looked back at Rheagan who was pursing his lips before faking a cough,
"Huwag na nating tanungin, sigurado naman akong sasagutin niya ako soon." he sounded so unsure but still pushed his words. He tried to laugh it off but ended up failing, I was about to say something but he motioned his hand to stop me.
I bit my lip and held the hem of his shirt, "It's okay." aniya habang ngumingiti. He gave me an assuring look before tucking a few strands of my hair before giving me a soft flick on the forehead. "Don't think about it too much."
I was silent the whole dinner onwards, I felt bad dahil kinailangan niyang ipakita sa akin na okay siya sa hindi natuloy kong sagot.
We went for a drive after our kebab party, hindi naman iyon masyadong malayo sa Ateneo at baka kay Huey ako makitulog. "Ibinilin ko si Bella kay Sissy sa baba, she said that Bella was barking too much kanina." After the drive ay pumunta kami sa Blue, I pressed the floor where the outdoor pool was located instead of his floor.
Ilang beses rin akong sinabihan ni Rheagan na huwag nang isipin ang nangyari kanina, and I was thankful that he wasn't pressuring me to say yes.
While going up, he was staring at his phone and was constantly preventing his laugh, "Laughtrip ka dito, Iana. You're crazy when you're drunk." ipinakita niya ang video sa akin natapos kong makita na ako pala ang pinagtatawanan niya. My cheeks blushed furiously, I was too wasted to even walk kaya sa video ay I was rolling on the floor.
Nawala bigla ang emosyon na nararamdaman ko kanina dahil sa nakita ko.
When I was about to snatch the phone away from him, he turned it off and grinned at me to tease me. Inirapan ko si Rheagan, I crossed my arms and waited for the lift to stop at the right floor. He handed me his phone and told me his password, "0603." he said.
I pressed the power button and his lockscreen wallpaper was me inside Naimh's strawberry costume while sitting on the floor, leaning on the wall while smiling with my eyes. Oh gosh, I looked horrible here with my Betty Boop make-up all smudged! Klarong-klaro rin ang pagkapula ko dahil sa kalasingan ko, I'd say this was something my friends would have to blackmail me.
Napailing na lamang si Rheagan habang hinihila niya ako patungo sa pool. "Maganda ka parin kahit lasing na lasing ka na." Paalala niya sa akin.
Frowning, I sat at the edge of the pool and was able to dip both of my feet sa pool dahil naka-palda ako. "Elle was surprised to see Cassius with Naimh earlier, akala niya talaga boyfriend ko si Cassius." I cleared my throat while changing the topic.
Napatawa ako nang maalala ko ang reaksiyon niya nang sinabi ko ang totoo.
They were trailing me since the day Cassius and I went to fetch Naimh hanggang sa party ni Cassius, kaya maraming speculations na nabuo sila. Hinilig ko ang ulo ko sa balikat ni Rheagan bago ako nagtanong,
