Xander had just woken up and started stretching. He heard giggles coming from the corner of the room and looked to see who it was. He saw the little girls trying to hold back their giggles
What were they laughing at?
Adriel walked into the room and looked at his brother trying to hold back a laugh "What the fuck happened to your face"
Xander looked at him confused and raised a brow "What?"
Luella and Adalia continued whispering to each other giggling
"What's so funny?" Xander asked
Alejo then walked into the room and erupted into a fit of laughs. Xander just stared at him
Alejo tried catching a breath "Your face" he said between laughs
Xander got up and walked to the bathroom to see his face pretty much scribbled on "What is this!" he yelled immediately washing his face
The kids inside were busy laughing at Xander's reaction
Xander was still trying to get the pen off his face but it wouldn't even come off then realised "Permanent marker" he muttered to himself
He groaned and started looking through the cupboards to see if there was anything to remove it with. He found rubbing alcohol and began rubbing his face with a cotton ball soaked in the liquid
"His face," Luella said laughing making her blushed cheeks go even redder "I drew a pretty heart," Ada said casually as if nothing had just happened
Xavier walked into the room seeing the kids laugh and grinned "Dumb assess" he said taking a seat beside his little sister placing her on his lap kissing her on the side of her head
"You're in so much trouble, good luck" he whispered into her ear. Luella looked at her brother scared "Oh no" she muttered
"Oh no," Alejo mocked. Luella turned and scowled at him "Shush" she said
"Yea shush" Ada repeated
"You both shush, babies" Alejo shot back.
The girls looked at him and Adalia shot up and started hitting him causing Adriel to get between them pulling Ada into his lap "Stop" he said
"Don't call me a baby ever again, stupid" Ada told her twin
"You stupid bitch!" Alejo yelled
Everyone including Xander who just walked into the room looked at him. Xavier put Luella down and walked over to Alejo throwing him over his shoulder, and taking him to his room as Alejo punched his back trying to get out his arms
Luella was so confused and looked at Adriel "What does bitch mean?" she asked innocently
Xander came up to her "Don't say that word" he told her "And you both are in great trouble" he added looking at both the girls smiling
The girls' eyes widened "Run!" Ada yelled getting out of Adriel's grip. Luella ran behind Ada into the bathroom
The girls sat on the floor trying to catch their breaths from running then someone knocks on the door
"We aren't here," Luella said laying down on the floor and attempting to look under the door, failing miserably
"I need a poo," the voice said from the other side of the door
"Alejo go away," Ada said pushing the hair out of her face
"Get out, I need to poo" he repeated getting frustrated
"Go use Adriel's toilet," Luella told him
Alejo groaned and went upstairs to find the other toilet.
Xander got up and walked over to the bathroom the girls were in and knocked "Hello?" he said smiling
He heard a few shushes and whispers causing him to let out a laugh.
The girl's never realised they hadn't locked the door so he slowly opened it to see the girls sitting in the bathtub on each end looking at each other
"So you both hid here huh?" he spoke up making the girls look up at him
"Come on," he said taking out Ada from the tub before taking out Luella
"Sorry" the girls both muttered looking down. Xander pulled them both into a hug and kissed both their heads "It's fine, but next time don't do it" he told them
Ada and Ella nodded and hugged him tighter causing Xander to grunt "Old man here, be careful" he joked stroking both their hairs
"Hey, Xavier?" Alejo spoke up from behind as he sat on my bed playing on my iPad
"Yea?" I said pausing my game and looking at him noticing the frown on his face. I got up and sat beside him "What's wrong?"
He shrugged "Why does my dad not want to see us anymore?" he asked me as his eyes got glossy
What was going on
"What do you mean?" I asked
"Today I was supposed to see dad but mum made Ada and I stay here, why?"
I sighed "I'm not sure buddy," I said. I noticed the tear slide down his cheek "Hey, don't cry. Maybe something came up"
Alejo shook his head "Don't think so" he muttered
I pulled him to my side and gently hugged him.
I've known this boy since birth and is one of the strongest people I've ever met.
His parents divorced a couple of years ago. His mother tried her best to make sure their dad never saw the twins making it seem as if he never wanted them
"You wanna go somewhere?" I asked him. He nodded slowly and put his shoes on while I grabbed my car keys
"We'll be back!" I shouted before locking the door and holding Alejo's hand
"Baby, come on just cooperate with me" With a heavy heart, I gently lifted him onto the changing table, but his usual giggles and squirms were replaced by soft whimpers of discomfort.
As I reached for the diaper, he recoiled, his tiny hands batting mine away. "It's okay, sweetheart," I murmured soothingly
He threw up all night, and cried all night leaving me awake all night.
"Sh" I rocked him gently, murmuring soothing words in a hushed tone. I pressed a cool cloth against his forehead, feeling the warmth of his fever against my skin. "Shh, it's okay, my sweet boy," I whispered, my voice trembling with emotion. I stroked his hair with gentle fingers.
What was wrong with him?
I was stressing out too much so I called Adriel
"Hello?" he picked up
"Adriel can you come so we can take him to the hospital please, he won't stop crying," I said rocking Elijah in my arms
"Alright I'm coming," he said and hung up
"Baby, sh" I kept rocking him while patting his bum then he threw up all over me again. I groaned as I placed him down on my bed getting him out of his clothes
I heard the door open and Adriel came in "Come on" he said picking Elijah up
I got some spare clothes for him and got out of the house locking the door behind me, going into the car
"How many times has he thrown up?" Adriel asked me while driving
"Too many times" I replied
I'm such an irresponsible mother.
After 10 minutes of a whole car ride of Elijah crying, we went into A&E making the doctors immediately get Elijah checked up due to his age
"How long has he been like this for," The doctor asked me "Since last night?" I replied
The doctor looked at me And you're bringing him in now?" she asked me. I nodded "I thought it was just the common flu"
She kissed her teeth causing Adriel to glare at her. I put a hand on his upper arm and mouthed 'stop'
"How old is he?" she asked me while checking his temperature "Two years and ten months"
She ran her tongue over her top teeth "Most likely a virus, should've brought him in earlier" she muttered looking at his temperature
I could tell Adriel was getting pissed "Is Mark in?" he blurted out causing the doctor to look at him and nod "Call him to check on my son" he added
The doctor got up and glared at me before leaving the room to get whoever Mark was. I went over to Elijah and picked him up kissing his head "I love you" I whispered to him
"Adriel" A male doctor came in exchanging a handshake with Adriel "Mark" Adriel smiled
Mark walked over to me gently getting Elijah out of my arms and placing him back down on the bed "This the little man?" he spoke smiling
He started checking his breathing and pulse
"There's a high chance of it being some sort of infection in the body," he wrote down "Not too common for kids his age but if I prescribe him with a couple of antibiotics he should be fine in a couple of days," he said
Adriel and I nodded
I got Elijah and carefully put his clothes back on
"Does he have any allergies to penicillin or any sort of medication?" Mark asked. I shook my head and he nodded while writing a prescription "There's a pharmacy in the hospital you could get it from there" he said handing the prescription slip to Adriel
"Thank you," I said smiling before leaving the room
