Kiara's POV
Kiara's outfit for her day at the office
We were finally back in New York and back at work and back in rhythm, I had been so busy but I like to think I thrive when busy and under pressure.
I walked into Marc's office and I sang, 'Good morning.'
He looked up at me from his desk and gave me the dirtiest look which made me laugh. I sat down and he said, 'I hate how happy you are during times when we are swamped. '
I chuckled and I said, 'We are almost done with the busy part of the beginning of the year so that's exciting and a reason to be happy. '
He pulled out a file from his desk and said, 'I've been busy and Jasmine is sick so it's just been a stressful week. '
I hummed and sat back, 'Speaking of, when do we get to meet Jasmine?'
He closed his laptop and said, 'That's another thing causing havoc in my house, she wants to meet you guys but I was hoping she would meet you and Kieran first. I thought she would be more comfortable if she met you first since you can be welcoming and all that. '
I smiled and said, 'That would be great actually, you guys can come tomorrow and I'll cook it'll be fun. I haven't hosted people in a long time so that's fun. '
I grabbed the files that were piled on the edge of his desk and said, 'Great we'll do that, now I'm going to do some work. Bye brother.'
He waved and I made my way to my office and got to work. Kieran was in the Virgin Islands for a business trip so I was staying at my house. I couldn't wait for him to come back tomorrow. I really love Kieran and I would be lying if I said there weren't multiple times I found myself imagining us getting married but I had kept all these thoughts and feelings to myself till Lily practically dragged it out of me when we were facetiming.
I always went to visit my little godbaby, I mean he was so precious. Hannah had banned me from bringing presents for Elijah every time I visited because she said I was spoiling him but I couldn't help myself.
I had worked late and now it was time for me to go home. I had told Arthur he didn't have to drive me this morning because I knew I would end up working late. It looked like everyone was gone home and I was the only one left. I went down to the parking garage and got in my car, I had a very anxious feeling in my chest so I was feeling nervous.
I started my car and got onto the road and I made sure to drive as cautiously as possible. I just couldn't help my nerves it was weird, it had me on edge. I was almost at home when my phone started ringing and it was a facetime call from Kieran, I picked up my phone and answered it and I said, 'Hi bubs.'
He smiled and said, 'Are you only going home now?'
I hummed and said, 'Yeah I'm almost home.'
I was about to ask him a question when I saw a car speeding and I had to swerve quickly but a second another car hit the drivers side if the car. Kieran asked, 'Baby, what's happening are you okay?'
I had adrenaline pumping and I removed my seatbelt, trying to climb into the passenger seat because the drivers seat door was stuck. It was taking time because my right arm was broken and I said, 'Kieran my right arm is broken, I don't know what's happening but it looks like a set up. '
Kieran very calmly said, 'How many people can you see? Do you think you can hold them back?'
I groaned because of my arm and I said, 'I can't see anything their lights are off and so are mine. I don't think I can.'
I locked the passenger door and tried to climb into the backseat but I banged my arm on a seat but I kept going. I was taking deep breathes and I said, 'Call my brothers, Kieran.'
I could here him shouting at someone and a bullet shot through the windshield and I ducked in the backseat. If they were aiming at me, it was a terrible shot so I had a feeling I wasn't wanted dead. I took a deep breathe and said, 'Bubs, I need you to hear me I don't think I'm wanted dead but you need to have people looking for me because I still don't know who it is.'
As soon as I finished saying that the back door on the passenger side was blown off and I was being dragged out of the car. In less than a split second I felt a pain in my forearm and I started seeing black. I internally swore because they had grabbed my right arm.
My head was pounding and I was struggling to move anything but I could feel the pain in my right arm. I opened my eyes and they took a second to focus and there was a couple who looked to be in their fifties in front of me. My head was pounding so I closed my eyes for a second, I opened them again and there were about three goons in the room as well. I was trying to survey and think of a way to get out of here.
I looked back at the couple who were sitting on a couch sipping on tea, nonchalant but I didn't know who they were. I closed my eyes and when I opened them I made eye contact with the woman and I knew those grey eyes and now that I looked at the man I could see some of Kieran's features like the jawline.
I cleared my throat and I said, 'You are Kieran's parents. '
The woman smiled but there was evil in that smile and she said, 'That's right. You're observant.'
I rolled my eyes at her arrogance and said, 'What is this about?'
She stood up and said, 'We are here to relay a message that is ours that you need to leave our son alone.'
I deadpanned at them and said, 'You couldn't organize a lunch for that or send an email. Surely you would be able to find the email after the investigation you had done on me. You did not have to crash my car and have me drugged and dragged out of the car.'
She shrugged and said, 'I prefer to be effective the first time round. '
I nodded sarcastically and with said, 'I will level with you. You don't know me, why do you not approve?'
She was standing in front of me now and she said, 'I don't have to know you, I didn't choose you so I know you aren't good enough. We don't need some opportunist, gold digger marrying our son and I know that's where it's going. '

I had no idea what was said but they all ran out of the room and I was left by myself in the room. I pulled down my sleeves so I would not get too much rope burn. I started moving my hands aggressively in an effort to loosen the ropes because then I could just pull my hands out. This was tactic that we had been taught because most people can't tie very good knots. They hadn't tied a very good knot so this was working amd as soon as I felt it loosen I started moving faster.
I couldn't stop wincing because of my right arm but I really had no options right now. I felt the rope move, it was loosening and my hands slipped out, I put my broken arm in a craddled position and used my other hand to untie the ropes that were tying my feet together and after about five minutes of fumbling while I could hear shouting.
I stood up and I was looking around for something to use because I had one arm to use and I was at a great disadvantage. The door opened and one of the goons shouted something but I waited for him to come and when he did I just went for a high flying kick which got him keeling over holding his jaw. While he was keeling over I grabbed his shoulder and brought my knee up to his nose which knocked him out. He fell with a thud to the ground and I felt my energy was lower from the level it was at.
I knew I wouldn't be able to win a fight with my broken arm so I had to knock him out. I began moving towards the door but another goon came in and he didn't waste time he sacked me to the ground and started landing blows on my stomach and I was struggling. I lifted my knee and kneed him in the groin and flipped him over and went for an upper cut managing to knock him out.
I looked at the door and saw Kieran and I felt the rest of my energy completely sucked out of my body. I dropped to my knees and my eyes were drooping, my vision was now blurred and I felt my hand let go of the arm it was cradling. The last thing I saw before it was dark was Kieran running towards me. I could feel his arms and I could hear him calling me princesa but I couldn't find strength to open my eyes.
