— a wish for freedom
THE TUNE of the sea shanty, bink's brew, is heared throughout the decks of the ship. its been a few minutes since you left the shores of the territory island. long story short, the six of you are having fun.
yo-hohoho, yo-hohoho!
staring from afar, resting your check on the palm of your hand as you lean on the railing. humming the song to yourself, reminiscing the past.
a sudden call of your name cut you off from your daydream.
“pirate ship at eleven o'clock!” the look out reported from the crow's nest.
your second in command went beside you and asked, “should we let them be?”
you raised a brow, thinking of a bwst decision when the ship's helmsman cackled, “or we rob them, if we're lucky enough they might have booze and treasure with them.” he stated, tidying his braids. the musician also agreed twirling her baton.
the navigator sighed and shook her head softly. “what? it's a good idea.” the jett haired musician debated. “a very good idea at that,” agreed the helmsman.
“you two!” the wine haired navigator pointed at you and kurose, “how to you deal with them when they're like this?!”
“you just gonna deal with it.”
it has been minutes since they left the restaurant. theo took the time to read and analyze the recipes that zeff gave him, totally ignoring the still crying yosaku.
“hey, how long are you gonna cry for? cheer up already.” luffy spoke hoping that yosaku would stop crying.
“b-but im so touched! it was truly a beautiful good-bye, brother cook.” he sobbed.
“you are keeping check on our boat's direction, right?” sanji nonchalantly asked, smoking his cigarette.
this somehow reminded theo of his captain, he always thinks where the heck does she keep that smoking pipe of hers.
“ahh! i wanna bring nami back so we can go to grand line already!” luffy excitedly yelled, throwing his arms.
“you're awfully happy. but even with nami, dont you still only have five people? are you seriously planning to go to grand line with only five people.” sanji interrogated.
five people. . . well, we did survive only having five people from the start, maybe they can too.
“you'll regret it if you underestimate the seas, you hear!?” yosaku adviced.
“if its more crew members i need, i can do that in grand line too! after all, its suppose to be paradise!”
“paradise? dont you mean a pirate's graveyard!?” sanji commented.
“before i left the restaurant, owner zeff told me. . . that some people call grandline a paradise! shishi!”
folding the sheet of paper back to his bag, serim hummed in agreement. “it is called paradise, but dont underestimate it too much.” he entered the conversation, taking the attention of the three.
sanji rested his cheek on his palm, grinning like a maniac, “oh really. . . ? as long as nami will be there, i won't mind even if it's just the two of us alone.”
he's a love cook, yep. he's a simp.
“you two are being much to naive!” yosaku yelled, scolding the two. “you really know too little about grand line! not to mention our destination as well! if brother zoro had some basix knowledge then he'd have come back along with me! and he definitely would've realized just how terrifying, the man at the place sister nami went to is!” he continued, clearly frustrated and scared.
“who's this “man” you speak of? maybe i know him.” theo asked.
“of course, he's known! he's feared by people!”
“so, should we eat?” sanji asked dodging the topic. the ebony captain hurriedly agreed as yosaku cried in despair.
“there's something about the the place we're going to that you have to know about!” yosaku continued once again, fortunately, the two listened knowing it's serious.
“the reason why the grand line is called the pirate's graveyard, is because of the three great powers that rule over it.” he started, showing three fingers, “and one of them, is the ouka shichibukai.”
“shichibukai?”
theo kept quiet, hiding the smirk that's forming on his lips, listening to the bounty hunter's explanation.
“simply put, they're seven pirates that are officially authorized by the world government.”
“what? why would the government permit pirates?” sanji questioned while luffy was utterly confused.
“as long as the shichibukai give a portion of their loot, obtained from pillaging and uncivilized lands, to the world government, their pirating activities are officially sanctioned. other pirates might look down on them by calling them government dogs or whatnot, but they're extremely strong! in fact, the hawk-eyed mihawk who defeated brother zoro, is one of the ouka shichibukai!”
“woah! there's seven of these guys!? those shichibukai guys are amazing.” luffy excitedly yelled.
“the problem is with another one of the shichibukai. the leader of the fishman pirates! jinbei!” serim tensed and bit the insides of his cheeks.
should've known, jimbei and the captain are friends. surely there's surveillance there, i should hide when we arrive.
“fishman? never met one before!”
“fishmen, huh? isn't fishman island a very famous travel destination in grand line? i've heard that the most beautiful mermaids are there.”
yosaki went on with his explation. “in return for joining the shichibukai, jimbei let a terrfying monster loose in east blue.”
“like this?” luffy asked showing his sketch of how a fishman would look like. it was a fish. . . with four. . legs? what is that thing?
theo sweatdropped, is this boy going to survive? yep he totally will, i bet my whole allowance.
“whatever, i'll skip the complicated history lecture for now. the place we're headed to is arlong park!!! it's an area ruled by arlong, a fishman pirate that once fought alongside jimbei, a member of the shichibukai! in terms of individual strength, he's far stronger than even don krieg!” and that ends teacher yosaku's lecture about the ouka shichibukai, thank you for listening—
“but. . . you came back to baratie before catching up with her, right? so how do you know for sure where nami was headed to? isn't rhat possible that her destination happened to be in that same direction?” sanji doubted nami's destination.
yosaku then explains that he and johnny have a strong feeling about her destination back to before they were thrown out of the going merry. they had noticed that nami had been interested in their copy of arlong's wanted poster, and her behavior quickly became suspicious, and when they told her that arlong recently had become more active she hurriedly took off with the treasure.
luffy, on the other hand, kept drawing his depictions of what a fishman looks like while sanji kept imagining mermaids.
im sure this boy wont survive in fishman island.
yosaku's lectures just went through their ears, and it ended with them wanting to eat.
“in any case, let's eat. what do you want?”
“meat on a bone!”
“stir-fried bean sprouts!”
“spicy chicken!”
“alright, just leave it to me!” and he left to cook.
yosaku stayed quiet while waiting for the food and kept staring serim, examining his face.
“brother theo.” he called earning a confused hum from the said lad. “you're a pirate, right?” hearing the word pirate, luffy became interested in the conversation.
“yes, i am, why?” yosaku narrowed his eyes and leaned closer to serim's face.
his eyes twitch as he started to sweat, in the name of davy jones please dont recognise me.
“i feel like ive seen you somewhere before. . .” luffy also leaned his face forward.
“and where would that be. . . ?”
“was it on the newspaper—”
“food's here!”
saved by the food, thank you so much sanji.
is it jinbe or jimbei?
dammit.
