It brought Aurora no surprise that she had given in to Demetri once more. Allowing him to take her on the tree in the middle of the forest; she was never very proficient at denying herself the things she wanted, and she wanted him. She couldn't imagine being at his side for the next millennium, arguing as if they were 30 year olds with Subarus and pestiferous children. Hell, she didn't even think she would live past the age of 21 and now she had forever. And she wasn't sure if she was willing to spend forever with him in a dark castle.

"I want to see the world." Aurora threw her hands up as she argued with him once again. They were in Vancouver now, in an alleyway after she had ran from him back in Forks. "I want to try hookers blood, virgin blood, blood tainted with LSD. I want to fight Mike Tyson and make him look like an idiot. There is so much more I want and none of them involve the Volturi."

"You mean none of them involve me." Demetri's shoulder sagged just the slightest. He had waited a thousand years for his mate and never would he have imagined that she would be the most hard headed, stubborn girl who would choose herself over him.

"I do not wish to be shown poisonous love. I don't want nothings whispered in my ear or chaste forehead kisses or begrudged hand holds. I don't want any of it." Her voice was firm as she placed her hands in the pockets of her jeans.

"My love is not poisonous." He gritted out. "And for you to suggest otherwise-"

"Your love is pure? Demetrius? Please I find that laughable." She scoffed.

"You have but to give me a chance to show you that what you find is false." He said.

She clicked her tongue against her teeth as she thought about his words. "Come with me then. You take the virgin, I take the hooker then we taste them on each other."

"You know I can't do that." His voice was quieter than before.

"You just don't have to guts to." She shrugged a single shoulder "Regardless it was only an offer. I'll beg for no man."

"Please." An eleven year old Aurora sobbed as her father came into her room, drunk on cheap whiskey.

"Don't cry." Her father sneered. "It is beneath you."

"Daddy please." She choked out as her father brought his calloused hands to her tear stained face.

"You look just like a younger version of your mother." He cooed. "So beautiful without the stretch marks and the sun spots."

"Please don't. I swear I did not touch your film collections." She begged as she remembered the reasoning for the last time he came into her room in the middle of the night.

"This isn't about punishment darling." He tucked her hair behind her ear. "You really are very beautiful."

And just like that her father had stolen the last piece of her innocence before any boy could even lay a lust filled finger on her.

Demetri was on his way back to Volterra with the sinking feeling in his stomach that he had made the wrong decision. In the end he just couldn't choose the girl he met less than a year ago over the coven he had spent the last 800 years with. Perhaps that made him a coward but for whatever reason, he couldn't; he didn't want a nomadic lifestyle and quite enjoyed the lavish conditions the Volturi offered.

Half of his focus was on swimming across the Atlantic Ocean and the other half was focused on Aurora's tenor. She was currently in Ontario, Canada doing god knows what with god knows who. The words she previously spoke settled deeply in his soul. She didn't belong to him she never has and possibly never will. However the thought of her with another man or woman made him nauseous, a ball of jittering wasps and hornets in his stomach that just wouldn't let up.

He made it back to Volterra and into the castle by noon before the sun was at its highest. Making his way towards the board room he collided with Felix.

"Watch where you're going fanculo." Demetri cursed at the burly vampire he considered a friend.

"The hell has your panties in a bunch cagna?" Felix cursed right back at hit with a light shove to the trackers right shoulder.

"Touch me again Felix I dare you." Demetri snarled at the vampire three times bigger than himself.

Felix shoved him again with a provocative smirk.

And that's how they both ended up in a cloud of Alec's vapor. Having destroyed a large part of the stone stairs that led to the upper part of the castle. Once their sight and sound returned they looked up to see Jane and Alec wearing the same 'these damn children' look on their faces.

"Are you quite done?" Alec asked the both of them.

"Demetri started it." Felix pouted, ever the most immature out of the bunch.

"I do not care." Alec remained monotone. "How the hell am I supposed to get to the attic and library now you imbeciles."

"Run." Demetri scoffed. The polished, pampered princess forgot he was a vampire did he?

Suddenly his back was arching, Jane had inflicted her gift on him once again. Ever since Aurora had left the castle before the confrontation Demetri had been extra volatile and rude. Which gave Jane excellent reason to inflict pain, and she was glad to do so.

"Shut up, Demetri." Jane said having grown tired of the trackers sour attitude towards everyone.

"Yeah shut up Demetri." Felix repeated like a child would.

"Felix." Jane warned and the burly vampire put his hands up in surrender to the tiny blonde.

"Are we done here your royal highnesses." Demetri asked sarcastically looking up at the two physically younger vampires.

"Lose the attitude." Alec sneered but walked away with Jane in tow.

"You're like death's head on a mop stick you blundering idiot." Felix shoved the tracker harshly as he ran away.

"Fuck." Demetri cursed as his fist met the stone wall, causing small pebbles and concrete filling to fall to the ground as a hole was left in the wall.

Money. Sex. Power. Everything he never got as a human he had as a vampire. There was nothing more a man could ask for and yet he was astoundingly angry and desolate. Having been sheltered his whole immortal life, first by Amun then by Aro, he was reluctant to join Aurora to take the world by storm without any affiliations or loyalties. She was the breaking dawn he needed in his repetitious life and yet he did not have the courage to go after her.

"I cannot do what it is you ask of me Amun." A newborn Demetri spoke to his creator.

"Sure you can. You're a tracker." Amun was getting fed up with the newborn's lack of abilities.

"Yes but I need to meet them first. I cannot find you potentially gifted humans that is not my gift." Demetri argued. Even at a mere seven months old he had a good grasp over his gift and a well enough understanding over its limitations.

"Well then perhaps you can find me gifted nomads. There is one named Roman Singh. I have met him just reach into my mind and find him." Amun spoke as if Demetri were Zeus himself.

"Amun that is far beyond my ability." He looked at his creator as if he had gone absolutely mental in his old age.

"Then what in God's name are you good for?" Amun all but sneered at his protégée.

"Still have more worth than you." Demetri actually did sneer at the ordinary vampire.

"Leave, then." Amun had grown tired of Demetri's attitude towards him. "See how well you fare without my guidance."

"I take that as a challenge." Demetri retorted as he left his creators house.

Aurora was somewhere between Ontario and Quebec standing on the top of a snowy mountain. She could hear people about 80 feet below her camping on one of the mountain's indentations. It seemed to be a group of four men and they appeared to be around 30 years of age. She was trying to watch the stars where the air was clear and they were interfering as their voices rang loud in her ear. So she killed them, their blood was tangy, not the best but not terrible. She buried them 50 feet in the snow; no one would ever find them.

A few hours later she was staring at a rising sun. The sky was painted purple and blue with tints of orange. It was beautiful, she had never watched a sunrise before. Thoughout the past three days she had been exploring the mountains in Canada and the fresh spring water that flowed through it. She had even found a reclusive little swimming hole with a waterfall. The rocks around it were steep and dangerous, no human would ever come there; so she took the liberty of skinny dipping in the cold water. It was one of the most serene things she had ever experienced in her life and yet she was not fully at peace.

She found her mind wondering to the Greek tracker often, thinking about what he was doing and such. She would never admit it aloud to him but she was quite disappointed when he denied her offer. She wanted him, she wanted to be with him but she wasn't willing to sacrifice her freedom for him.
