This is a lesbian classic that every baby gay should watch at least once. It was filmed in the 80s but story is set during the late 50s.
It's the first film of it's era where lesbians don't tragically die, are not abused and are not shown as predators and that's pretty woke for that time. The chemistry between Vivian and Cay is insane and as a fan of age gaps I love the age difference between them.
There are some sweet tender moments between between our gays that will make you melt and some that will make you cry.
It was interesting to see Vivian fighting her internalised homophobia but in the end still submitting to her desires for a pretty girl but lesbihonest pretty girls make us all weak.
The ending is pretty hopeful and I would like to say happy? After a lot of loving and fighting Cay hops on the train with Vivian and they 40 minutes alone together, we get to imagine that they lived happily after that or they broke up. Though I would like to assume it's the former.
