Kong's POV
The next day I woke up a little early.. I went through my dresses.. I had mostly black shade colors.. so I just took one shirt and pant which I felt like and wore it.. I was hoping that there would be some uniform.. but we did not have one.. I got ready and stepped out of my room..
"Good Morning Kong.. You are ready..?" P'Prae said as she saw me stepping out..
"Good Morning P.. and I am ready.." I said as I walked to her.. She prepared breakfast for both of us..
"Kong.. this weekend you are going out with me." She said suddenly with a serious face.
"Okay.. but where to.. I even need to meet my sister." I said.
"I am fed up with seeing you in these black dresses already.. so we are going to buy some dresses for you.. and No.. I am not taking no as an answer." She said sternly.
"Ah.. Fine.. but P.. I want you to accompany me to meet my sister.. I want to introduce you to her." I said..
"Fine... it's a deal.. Saturday your work ends at afternoon.. we can do some shopping before meeting your sister.. you can buy something for you sister also.." She said and smiled at me.
"Khab P.." I replied as I returned her smile..
"And I will do the dropping and picking up on Saturday.. It would save time." She said.
"As if I can say No.. but still.. okay.. " I said and rolled my eyes..
"I know you can't say not to this sister.." She said and ruffled my hair..
"P.. I need to comb again.." I pouted.. She chuckled before setting my hair again..
"There done." She said as she was done..
"Thank you P.." I said.. I was feeling very emotional.. I never felt this warmth even from my mother or father.. they were always busy with their work.. they were never with me on my first day of school or any other day occasions.. I felt some tears in my eyes.. so I closed my eyes..
"It's okay Kong.. I am here.. you have me.. " P'Prae said and hugged me..
"And I will always be your family P.. like you are to me.." I said as I returned the hug. P lost her parents when she was young.. both of them were detectives and lost their lives when they were working on a case..
"All the best on your first day Kong.. and I will let you know if I'll come today back here.." She said as we started to our workplace. She hugged me one last time before saying bye.. I used the bike which P'Prae gifted me with on my last birthday while she went on her car.. I entered the location in my GPS and followed it.
I stopped near the opposite café as I was very early.. I went inside and ordered a coffee. From the place I sat.. I could see the entrance to my new office clearly.. I saw as one after other went inside.. in total there two girls who went inside and 8 boys.. and I was sure the captain was the only one left.
I finished my drink and took a deep breath before walking into the office after parking my bike in the provided place. I slowly went inside.. they were all sitting at one place and chitchatting.. They were laughing and teasing eachother.. It reminded of my past days when I had friends.. We used to be the same in our college.. I matched their names with the way P'Prae described them..
"Kongpob..?" One of them said as they pointed at me.. Everyone were looking at me. I wai'ed to them.
"Khab.. I am Kongpob and I am allotted this division." I said and smiled at them. One of them.. came and pulled me towards everyone.. And I already guessed his name.. it was Em..
"You are really young. I thought it was wrong when they said you were of our age." He said..
"I will take that as a compliment.. Thank you Khun Em." I said politely.
"You know our names..? And.. please Em is enough.. we are of same age." He said. I smiled and nodded my head.
"I know the names." I said them.
"Then tell us our names.." One girl said.. she was tall..
"As you wish Khun May." I said. She smiled..
"Nice meeting you all Khun Tew, Khun Wad, Khun Oak and Khun Maprang." I said looking at the ones who were of my age group then faced the seniors.
"I hope I will be able to meet your standards.. Please keep guiding me Khun Knot, Khun Prem, Khun Bright and Khun Tutah.." I said as I wai'ed to them.
"Okay.. you are too polite.. you can call us P like others.. " P'Knot said.
"Khab P.." I said.
"And please.. don't call us Khun.. we are not old." Maprang said. No.. she whined..
"Khab.." I said and smiled at them..
"So.. how was training under Khun Praepailin.?" P'Knot asked.
"It was great.. she was really strict during training.. and very harsh.. she holds high values for the work.. so she makes sure to go hard on everyone... but P'Prae is also kind, considerate and warm." I said truly.
"P'Prae.?" They exclaimed.
"Ah.. what happened..? "I asked them.
"You are close to her..?" P'Prem asked. I was contemplating whether I should let them know or not.. but at last.. I decided against it.
"No P.. I am not that close.. but due to my excitement.. I used to keep asking things.. and since she was only 3 years elder than me.. she asked me to call her P since I kept on referring her as ma'am twice every sentence." I said. They laughed at what I said.
"No wonder she asked you to call her P.." Em said as he stopped laughing.
"Anyways Kongpob.. will you be free this Saturday or Sunday..?" Tew asked me.
"I will be free this Sunday.." I said.
"Then.. reserve the night for us.. let us welcome you here." Maprang said.
"That won't be needed.. we can just hang out.. " I tried to deny..
"Kongpob.. this is like another home for us.. and we stay like family.. so we always welcome people and make them feel warm and a part of us. So don't deny it." P'Tutah said.
"Khab P." I gave in especially after he mentioned home and family.. P'Knot gave me my id card.. I was lost in thoughts looking at it..
"What are you all doing.? Don't you have any work to do.." I heard a cold voice. It was our captain.. we immediately wai'ed to him.
"Sorry Captain.. we were just welcoming Nong Kongpob." P'Knot said. The look on Khun Arthit's face says that I am not welcomed here..
The second our eyes met.. I recognized him.. it was P'Oon.. The one who I played with till I was 7years old and always thought of him after he left. But his eyes did not show the warmth.. it made me shiver with coldness.. Is it really P'Oon..? If he is.. then does he remember me.. I wanted ask.. but some how remembering the coldness in his voice.. I decided against it.
"Detective Suthilak.. You will be working with Em and Tew on the Animal Missing case.. they will brief you up.. don't be a hinder to them. You have three days to catch the person." He said and walked away. I guess P'Prae is wrong about Captain.. he wasn't looking friendly to me.. but why do I feel that it was only me he was treating like that. Is he really P'Oon..? Or am I thinking wrong.??
"Kong.. come we will brief you up about the case.. it is a small one.. but we better hurry.." Tew said.
"Okay. But where do I sit.?" I asked him..
"Sit beside me.. the desk is free.. " Em said.
"All the best Kong." Other's said before we started our work.
Em told me about how the pets especially cats and dogs have been going missing a lot recently in one particular area.. and then suddenly from a couple of days.. a large number went missing from the pet shop.. Tew went and took permission for us to go to the pet shop and the locality from our captain.
They also took permission from Captain to go their directly for the next two days.. He specially warned me saying that if I create any problem.. he would pull me out of the job.. I wonder what I did to offend him because I can sense that he was acting like that only towards me.
I just shrugged it off and followed Em and Tew.. They both came by Tew's car while I took my bike. We stopped in front of the pet shop. I looked at the name "Happy Paws".. it was a nice name... as we were walking inside.. I saw a personality.. and I recognized her immediately.. I rushed inside the pet house and sighed in relief as she went away..
"Kong.. what are you doing.. let us talk to the owner." Em called for me..
"Just looking around.. coming." I said and walked to him.
"Swadee Khab sir.. we are detectives.. we want to.." Em was speaking but he could not complete his sentence as the owner got distracted because of a dog and a cat running around..
"Sir.. please.. I have told everything I know to the police already.. let me do my work.. I don't want to talk any more." He said as he tried to separate the fighting dog and cat.
"I guess we can't make him speak now. I guess the police must have kept pestering him with questions.. He is not even sparing a glance at us." Tew said.
"Maybe we can.. Lemme try.." I said and walked towards him.
