Adam POV*
Not too much later we arrived at a random bar I'd never even heard of. George parked his car and we all made our way inside. We went in and took a seat at a nearby table.
"So I have to ask..." Julie said as we sat down. "Why do you know of this random bar? It wasn't exactly the close by..." we all looked at George waiting for a response.
"Well, one of my close friends- well doesn't own it, but spends a lot of time here. So I thought might as well take this opportunity to say hi..." he shrugged. We were quiet for a bit.
"This wasn't about celebrating, was it," Jean smirked. George looked away, scratching his neck. "Well, yeah it was... but I also needed an excuse.." he admitted. "Of course".
We all laughed and talked for a while until George got up to look for his friend. We all stayed behind, talking about what kind of drinks we were going to get.
I just sat there awkwardly, as I already knew I was going to just get like, a coke. While they both went through the entire menu multiple times trying to decide.
A few minutes went by and George finally came back, bringing his friend with him.
"Alrighty, guys. Let me introduce you, to my ex-best friend-" he earned him an elbow from his friend. He just shrugged and looked at him, "What? It's true" he laughed. "Don't say it like that though." His friend laughed.
"Anyway-" George turned back to us. "This is Charles." He smiled. We all waved and said some quiet 'hi's. He let out a small chuckle before gesturing us to move, and sitting down next to me, everyone introduced themselves.
"So what brings you all here today," he said trying to sound formal. "We just finished a school project," Jean said. Charles looked at us confused. "He needed an excuse to come here," Jean said, pointing at George.
"Oh right," he smiled. "So you came here to celebrate?" He asked. We nodded. "I guess you can say that." Julie smiled.
"So if you don't mind me asking?" Jean continued." Why is it you hang out a lot in a bar all by yourself?"
He looked a George. "He told you, huh?" Jean nodded blankly. "Well if you must know.." he leaned a little closer to us. "Don't tell them but- I might have a small crush on the guy that owns this place" he smirked.
Suddenly George playfully hit him with a menu card. "Don't be ridiculous." He laughed. "He's just here a lot because he's best friends with the owner." He explained. Charles sat up again. "Yeah, sure. What he said" he said, holding his head.
"So, we're you guys planning on ordering something?" He asked us after a bit. "Yeah duh," George said getting the menu again. "Shouldn't we go to the front then?" Julie asked.
"Nah it's fine, ill get it." Charles offered everyone picked something and told him. Everyone decided on some sort of alcoholic beverage.
"And what about you?" He looked at me. "Oh, just a cola is fine." I shrugged. "You sure, you are at a bar.." he asked again. "Yeah I'm sure" I smiled.
"Alrighty" and with that, he got up. "Would you mind helping me carry all of it back?" He asked looking at me. I nodded and got up. Walking up to the main bar at the front.
"Barkeep, I got some order for ya-" checks aside as he leaned over the main bar. "What are you doing down there.?" He asked confused. I couldn't hear a response but soon Charles got back up and the 'barkeep' as he called him, got up. "What is it?" He said looking irritated.
"Nathan?" I looked over confused, not understanding why he was there. His irritated look changed to shock as he turned from Charles to me. "Wha-"
I took a step back "what are you doing here?" I asked confused. "I- well. Working.. " he stuttered. I looked around for a second. "Why are you working here?" He got quiet for a bit. "Well, it- uh-"
I let out a sigh. "You won't tell me huh?" I said, getting a little frustrated by all the secrets. "Guess one more secret wouldn't hurt... right?"
"Wait no- it's not-" he tried to defend but my body reacted on its own. "No. It's fine just-" before I finished my sentence my body moved by itself and soon I was outside of the busy bar.
I let out another sigh. Trying to ignore the pain I felt deep down. The pain I wasn't sure why it was there anyway. I went over to some steps nearby and took a seat.

Nathan POV*
"Wait- no it's not-" but before I could even finish he cut me off, and then walked out of the bar.
What just happened?
I got in earlier today, like it was a normal day, I had everything planned. I had even taken the rings with me to make sure I wouldn't forget. I wanted to keep them for a special day, but I couldn't wait anymore.
I thought it would be fine to just work that morning. I had been having a lot of fun, and the money didn't hurt either. But I didn't expect to get up from getting more glasses and finding Adam standing in front of me.
I tried to explain but I couldn't, I was too confused and shocked. I just stood there as he went outside.
"What-" Charles said confused. "Wait what did I miss?" He asked looking over at me. "Just me being stupid-" I sighed, bringing my hand up to my face.
"You guys know each other?" He asked confused. "Well, yeah-". I said looking at Charles. "Wait why do you know him?" I asked.
"Oh, he's here with an old friend of mine and some of his other classmates. I just met him like 20 minutes ago." He explained.
I let out another sigh, leaning onto the bartop. This is bad. I had to find a way to get out there.
"This is something serious isn't it?" Charles said, I nodded. He looked around for a bit. "Want me to cover for you?" I looked up confused. "You know, so you can go outside?"
I got up surprised. "You would do that for me?" He smiled "yeah but you can't blame me if Kai finds out." He smirked as he got around behind the bar. "No, I know, thank you." He nodded and I quickly ran past him and also got outside.
I looked around for a bit. Until I spotted him on some steps nearby. As I got closer I noticed he looked pretty angry.
"Hey.." I said as I walked up. He looked at me briefly before looking away. I took a seat next to him. It was quiet for a bit until I spoke up.
"Look I- I should've told you-" I started. "Then why didn't you." He said. Still not looking at me. I tried to say something but was cut off. "What didn't you just tell me?" He said, a little louder.
"I- I don't know- I should have," I admitted. "You could've just told me you started a job, why did you keep that a secret." He asked sounding more upset than before. "It wouldn't have been suspicious or anything- I wouldn't have to worry about- he suddenly stopped and looked away again.
"Worry? What did you think I was doing?" I asked a bit more seriously. "I didn't think anything, but it doesn't help when there are people around you putting doubt in your head." He said holding back tears. "I thought you would trust me not to"
"I do trust you-!" He cut me off again. "I do, trust you, a lot." He said. "It just- it feels like you don't trust me-"
"What?" I said confused. "Of course I trust you-" I said. "Then why didn't you tell me?" He looked over at me. "Why did you get a job anyway?" He said quietly. "I- I can't tell you that- it's a surpr-"
He let out a laugh as she got up. "I get it, a secret." He said wiping away tears. "That's not what I was gonna say-"
"It's fine, I get it." He said calmly. He let out a sigh. "I won't ask again," he said. Still not looking at me. "What do you mean."
"Maybe we rushed into this whole thing after all. " He said more to himself than to me. I got up as well. "Wait what are you saying?" I asked. Getting a bit nervous.
"I just- I can't do this right now-" he said. I tried to turn him to look at me but he just pulled his shoulder back. "Wait just-"
"Please just- leave me alone." He said before walking away again. I didn't try to run after him.
What does this mean? One minute everything was great and now... I pulled out the box with the rings, and let out a long sigh.
I was so close...
