The movie is a coming of age story between a father and a daughter and shows how they deal with the changes in their life. But it also shows a sweet love story between two queer women of color and the best thing is they're played by people who queer women of color irl!!!
Their romance is fluffy and cute and thankfully without much angst which is surprising to see in case of queer women specially when they're people of color.
Other than the amazing chemistry between the two ladies and I also loved Sam's bond with her father, the music and the overall aesthetic of the movie.
This could have been my comfort film if my preference wasn't leaning on the darker side. But nevertheless it's a movie I would recommend to watch at least once.
Also even though Sam went to college in the end and I'm assuming that her long distance relationship worked and Sam and Rose are always gonna be together.
