dylan: now that you mention it, you do look a little familiar
I stared at him and he softly smiled at me, he looked like someone I knew but I just couldn't get my head around it
dylan: ah, look at the time, here keep the change
he smiled once more, paid and grabbed his bag
josiah: um yeah, have a nice day
dylan: you too
lisette: my head hurts so bad
I turned around to her
josiah: you want a head massage? shoulder? I don't usually do feet but you're an exception
lisette: get away from me
she laughed and pushed my head away
lisette: who was that?
josiah: uh I don't know
lisette: hm, these candies are so good what the fuck
she hopped up on the counter and sat down
josiah: those aren't free, you know
I put my hands on both sides of the counter, leaning in
lisette: i'll pay lee later
josiah: you can just give me a kiss and I won't tell
she shook her head and laughed, then slipped a candy in my mouth
josiah: now hold on cause these are good
lisette: that's what I said!
josiah: LEE!
mrs. lee: WHAT!
josiah: CAN I GET A PACK OF THESE HARD CANDIES FOR FREE!
mrs. lee: HELL NO!
josiah: ...WHAT ABOUT LISETTE!
mrs. lee: SHE CAN GO AHEAD AND GET AS MANY AS SHE WANTS-
josiah: I HATE YOU!
she pushed me back with her pointer finger and walked over to the candy aisle. she came back with two packs and stuffed them in her bag
josiah: fatass-
lisette: one of them is for you-
josiah: oh
lisette: just for that, i'm not giving you any
josiah: that's not fair
lisette: oh well
the fact that I still couldn't figure out who the stranger was, was bothering me. I know i've seen him somewhere, I just don't know where. I eventually let it go and went along with my day.
Josiah: time for bed
Iris: not yettt!
Josiah: you've yawned like four times already, you have to go to sleep
Iris: I dont want too!
she crossed her arms and pouted at me
Josiah: why not!
I said as I imitated her voice and crossed my arms, pouting back at her. she tried to hide her smile and just looked away. she's just like her sister, its hilarious
Iris: because...
Josiah: because ~
Iris: ..cause then when I wake up you're gone
I laughed at how cute that was and hugged her
Josiah: I leave because I have to go to school and work, that way your sister and I can come back and make yummy food for you and your brother, not because I wanna leave you
Iris: ..for realzies?
I chuckled
Josiah: for realzies
Iris: well then.. I guess thats okay!
Josiah: so, bed time?
Iris: mh!
she hummed in response. I carried her over to bed where Lisette and alessandro were, and tucked her in.
Iris: when I grow up, im gonna make so much money that you won't have to work anymore after we get married!
Lisette: you're marrying who now?
Iris: Josiah!
Lisette: yeah, not happening
Iris: why not!
Lisette: ..be-because.. uhm-
Alessandro: come on iris, he's already grown and you're barley 6
Lisette: yeah! so.. you can't marry him!
Iris: im gonna marry him!
iris blew the candle out and covered herself with the blanket. I laid next to her until both iris and alessandro fell asleep and then Lisette and I got up and left.
Josiah: that little scene of yours back there REEKED of mmm.. jealousy?
Lisette: I dont know what you're talking about
Josiah: gotta say, I enjoyed it
Lisette: what, my 6 year old sister and I fighting over you?
Josiah: oh, so it WAS jealousy
Lisette: ...no!
Josiah: HAHAHA
Lisette: it wasn't jealousy! I just don't want my sister to grow up with a false reality
honestly I don't really know what her feelings are towards me, or what type of relationship we have. we flirt sometimes, we cuddled last night.. we both met eachothers parents, we both get jealous when it comes to other people hitting on us, and everyone thinks we're dating. I know how I feel, I really like Lisette.. I just wish I knew what she was thinking
*Lisette's pov*
is it okay to feel like this, this early? I've only known Josiah for a couple of weeks yet.. I feel strangly happy when he's around me. we act like we're together.. minus The whole kissing and label thing. does he know I like him? I've been trying to show him.. I just wish I knew what he was thinking
Lisette: you didn't have to walk me to my dorm
Josiah: why not? mine is just on the way
Lisette: your dorm is in the other wing
Josiah: ..just extra exercise
I chuckled at his lame excuse
Lisette: do wanna co-
Quinn: jo! I need your help!
we both got startled as Quinn swung open her door and popped out
Josiah: nice to see you too
Quinn: Josiah
Josiah: okay! ill see you tomorrow, Lisette
I nodded and he got pulled into Quinns room. I heard their muffled laughs but I could only seem to focus on Josiah's. I caught myself smiling and snapped out of it. I put in my earphones and fell asleep listening to music.
Josiah: Lisette, come here
I walked over to Josiah, not questioning how he got in my room or my bed. he gently grabbed my arm and pulled me on the bed with him, hugging me and holding my head up against his chest.
Lisette: what are you doing..
Josiah: lets just stay like this for a while
Lisette: mm..
I could hear his heartbeat so clearly, the warmth of his body warming me up. he loosened his grip and cupped my face close to his
Lisette: Josiah..
Josiah: Lisette, I ------ you
I grabbed his face and right before we could kiss -- I woke up.
Lisette: ...
I rubbed the back of my neck and could still feel the way Josiah was touching it in my dream. I took out my earbuds and put my phone to charge. the laughing was gone, it was silent. I checked the time and it was 2 in the morning. I went back to sleep but the dream didn't continue, it was just blank.
*Josiah's pov*
I went on with my days, school, work, Lisettes house, then repeat. except, that guy from the other day would come in to the store at least once a week. same time every week. I found it weird but maybe he just really liked chips. he looked really fit though so maybe he would come on his cheat days.
week 1:
dylan: hey its you again!
Josiah: oh hey!
dylan: your friend isn't working with you today?
Josiah: no no she is, she's just upstairs with our boss.. doing facemarks..
he laughed
week 2:
Josiah: welcome back
Dylan: did you end up doing facemarks with them last week?
Josiah: my skin is already clear, they're just mad they can't relate
Dylan: may wanna keep it down, they might hear you
Josiah: the worst they'll do is hit me with the broom
he smiled and paid
week 3:
Josiah: you're late
he chuckled
Dylan: I didn't know I could be late to a store
Josiah: I was starting to wonder if you were going to come in today
Dylan: well hey, im here
I chuckled and scanned his things
Josiah: classes are cancelled today!
Quinn: yes! ooo! lets go to the pool!
Josiah: I was just about to say that
Quinn: if you push me in im gonna drown you
Josiah: your threats don't scare me, little girl
she mocked and made faces at me, I did the same back and then my phone started ringing
Josiah: hey mom
Eli: jo, classes are cancelled today, right?
Josiah: we literally just found out, how'd you know
Eli: dont worry about it
I chuckled
Eli: anyways, come with me to the grocery store
Josiah: what? why?
Eli: because I haven't seen you in weeks! you haven't come once, not even on the weekends!
Josiah: yeah sorry, I've been pretty busy
busy balancing out how to hang out with Lisette and Quinn separately
Eli: im outside the school gates
Josiah: what?! I already have plans with Quinn-
Eli: you're coming with me.
I could feel the threatening tension through the phone
Josiah: o-okay..
I hung up the phone and gave a "sorry.." type of smile to Quinn
Quinn: I dont fuck around when it comes to your mom, we can hang out after you come back
Josiah: you're the best
Quinn: I know
she walked back to her dorm and I walked out to my moms car.
Eli: hey baby! ohhh I missed you!!
she gave me kisses all over my face and hugged me so tight I couldn't breathe
Josiah: okay! oka-
Eli: I really thought you died or something
Josiah: wh- AND YOU DIDN'T CALL?!
Eli: you act as if the school wouldn't call me if your dumbass died
Josiah: mom of the year award goes to you
Eli: shush! we shall go grocery shopping now!
she swerved and gassed it. I honestly don't know how she got her drivers license. I remember once when she ran over a squirrel because she was gong 80 on a 30 street and all she said was "nice, fucking NICE. DUMBASS SQUIRREL! NOW I GOTTA CLEAN MY TIRES" and she continued to go 80. my dad was just admiring her rode rage, like the lovestruck man he is while I was in the backseat praying for my life.
we spent about two hours going from grocery store to grocery store because she just HAD to get different things from different stores.
Josiah: are we done!?
Eli: is the list cleared?!
Josiah: no but-
Eli: then no! Josiah, we aren't done!
I whined and threw my head back. after another half hour of shopping, we had finally paid and we were loading the car. I was putting the milk cartons in the trunk and looked to my side
Josiah: oh hey, its that guy who's always coming in the store
Eli: who?
Josiah: that guy over there
she looked over and she froze. she used her telekinesis on all the groceries and shoved them in the trunk and slammed it shut.
Josiah: you could've done that the entire time-
Eli: get in the car.
she sternly said
Josiah: why-
Eli: get in the car, Josiah.
Josiah: o-okay! im going..
I got in the car and she locked it, then proceeded to walk over to the guy.
