The next night, Jose dressed in a nice suit and looked at himself in the mirror.
"This will be a magical night. I'll make sure of it for her." He said.
He sprayed a little cologne and walked to her house with a white rose.
He knocked on her door.
"Coming." Jessica said from the inside.
He waited patiently.
The door then opened.
"Good evening, my dear." Jose said.
He took one look at her and was instantly taken with her.
She was all dressed up like a vintage belle you see in 1950s films.
"I hope I look okay." She said.
"Okay? You are an absolute beauty." Jose said.
"Thank you." She said and blushed.
"You look very dashing yourself." She said.
"Thank you, my dear." He said.
He handed her the rose.
"Innocence and purity." She said.
"Pardon?" He asked.
"That's what the white rose represents. Innocence and purity." She said.
"How fascinating. Do you know a lot about flowers?" He said.
"As a matter of fact, I do. I had a big garden back in Texas and learned a lot about plants." She said.
"That's amazing." He said.
She took the rose.
"Shall we?" Jose asked, putting out his arm.
"We shall." She said, taking his arm.
They went to dinner.
"So tell me about yourself." Jose said.
"Well, I am the youngest of three. I graduated honor roll in high school. I went to a performing arts college for 5 years, studying music, theater, and art. My best subjects were always singing and ballet. I love animals, flowers, books, fashion, and I also gave music lessons to the children in my old neighborhood." She said.
"Well, that is very interesting." He said.
"Tell me about you." She said.
"Let's see. I am from Bahia, Brazil. I moved here to get a fresh start and find my fortune. Not that that is my main focus. I live with some wonderful friends and we travel a lot and help others. I also enjoy performing myself. Mainly, playing the guitar, dancing and singing. My favorite type of music is samba. I admit I am a bit of a ladies man, however, meeting you has certainly changed that. Because you are the loveliest young woman I have ever met." He said.
"Oh how sweet." She said.
After they had dinner, they went to the dancefloor and danced together.
"I must say, you are a wonderful dancer." Jose said.
"Thank you, likewise." Jessica said.
Along with a walk in the park underneath the stars.
Jose was, as always, the perfect gentleman to the lovely lady.
They had so much fun talking, laughing, and being with each other.
When they finished, Jose took her home.
"Thank you for a wonderful night, Jose. I will never forget it." Jessica said.
"My pleasure. You made this night even more special for me, because I got to be with you." Jose said.
She smiled.
"You know, it's going to be hard for me to leave." Jose said.
"Then how about this to end the date?" She asked.
She gave him a kiss.
"Good night." She walked into her house.
Jose felt his heart beating.
"She is the one." He said to himself.
