CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE
❝ 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙚'𝙨 𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙨 ❞

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

"YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS."  Ivy slid herself off of the cool, leather couch.  A warm blanket tucked under her, since she had worn minimal clothing.  Now in front of her was the coffee table, her plate of dinner sat on said table.

"Deadly."  Rob cocked an eyebrow once she turned to catch his gaze.

"You're telling me that if given the option, you would rather go through Disney's 'It's a Small World' ride every time you sneeze than have to play a character you genuinely like?"

"Precisely."  The conversation had started as a jab at his infamous character, Edward Cullen but took a slight turn when he mentioned he only chose roles if he could find a trait in the character that he disliked.

"How can you hate Cedric Diggory?  He's a sweetheart."

"I just do.  He is the type of guy I would despise in real life."

"That's why you didn't see Cursed Child?"  A smirk grew on her face.

"Ehh, I'm not very attached to the character.  It doesn't feel like my own."

"Now what character feels like yours?"

"I don't know.  I mean if they made some strange Twilight musical, I would watch it.  I would be curious as to who was playing Edward, because as much as I dislike the character, I feel like he's my character."

"You didn't like the Harry Potter experience?"

"Not really, which as you could guess, shocks everyone when I speak about it."  His hand that rested on the arm of the chair drew up and he cradled the left side of his face in his palm.  "Yes I am grateful for the opportunity, it helped me become more known in the industry, but it took away from a big part of my life.  I was supposed to go to university.  They told me I was only needed for about four months, it ended up being nearly a year."

He dug his fork into the coated noodles,  "And I wasn't even working for the majority of the time.  I was just on set, essentially wasting time.  It wasn't like I was close with many people and those I did consider my friends, would be actually acting."

"I get that.  You lost a part of your adolescence.  College is a big part of it."

"Oh yeah, you went to UCL, right?"

      "Yeah."

"So you're more familiar with the area than what you have led on?"

"I'd like to forget about my time in London."

      "Why's that?"

"Niall and I used to have a place here.  The year I started school was the year he and I had started dating.  By the end of my sophomore year we started to look for places and during the summer we moved in together."

"It ruined the city for you?"

"I wouldn't say ruined.  I've been back numerous times, it just hurts sometimes to think about what memories were made here, you know?"

"So, where is every place you have lived?"

"Well, for the first year of my life I lived in Hong Kong.  Then up until the age of twelve we lived in Germany.  After that we came to the states and my family has been in Irvine since.  I moved to the UK in 2013 for school.  Throughout the course of our relationship, we had a place in London, LA, and Germany.  And now, the only place I own is in the infamous Los Angeles."

"You get around a lot, don't you?"  His ankle nudged her side.

"I miss traveling as much as I did."

"What, are you domesticated now?"  He watched her exaggerate a frown which only made his already prominent grin grow.

"Sadly I am.  How tragic."  She leaned her head back and it pressed against the bottom of the sofa.  "This couch is really nice, by the way."

Rob's body tensed up, "Umm, thanks.  Suki picked it out."

Ivy's head flew up and her eyes darted towards him,  "I am so sorry.  I didn't mean to-"

"Ivy, it's alright.  I'm fine.  It's fine, don't worry about it."  He gave her a gentle nod, reassuring her it was okay.

They sat in silence for a few moments.  Her coated fingernails scratched at the back of her neck, a raw rash brewing from the nerves.  Her dark tresses were pulled back, leaving her cervix bare.  The clawing was to keep her from asking the inevitable question.  Curiosity killed the cat, as they would say.  But she just could not help it.

"Why did you two break up?"

Rob had dreaded this moment for a while now.  His breakup with Suki was probably his hardest, he would say.  She matched him so well.  She had been the one person in the world to understand him and accept his life, she never once complained about his stardom or anything.  Suki had been his greatest love up until that point.

"We wanted two separate things.  Both at different points in our life."

"And what point were you at?"  Settle down 'cat', this is not going to end well if you pry, Ivy told herself.

"Kids, marriage, you know settling down."

Ivy noticed his gaze fall.  She took the initiative to comfort him, so she crawled up onto the leather and inched toward him.  Their knees touched as she practically closed the gap between their bodies.  His face was now buried into his hands, as his elbows were parched up onto the pillow in his lap.  Ivy brought one hand to his back and the other to his thigh.

"I get that.  You want something more from life at the moment, it happens.  Relationships run their courses at times."

"But we were fine.  We were nearly perfect.  And then I brought this up and she said she wasn't ready yet and I said that that wasn't enough anymore.  That we weren't enough."

"If she wasn't ready for that, then she wasn't ready.  It happened, it's in the past.  As much as it sucks, life goes on.  We meet new people, experience different things, it will all be alright in the end.  You'll be alright in the end."  Ivy assured him.  He brought his chin up and she was able to see the waves in his eyes move about.

His eyes flickered to her lips.  Her plump, vaseline coated mouth that sat partially open.  It took her mere seconds to realize.  Ivy's heartbeat picked up and suddenly she noticed how dry the inside of her mouth was.  The distraught man began to lean in,  "You always know exactly what to say."

He was upset.  His bottled up fears and frustration had just been let out.  This was not the right time, Ivy internally screamed at herself.  Although Rob's gentle expression sent the butterflies in her stomach wild, she knew that morally she could not let it go any further tonight.  A hot breath on her lips awoke interrupted her thoughts.  If Ivy were to tilt her chin upward, their mouths would meet.

She slid her right hand up from his thigh, to his chest.  He took that as her initiating what was to come.  Rob let his lips brush against her, not daring to puker them, though.  Her palm laid flat against his charcoal cotton shirt.  With minimal force, Ivy pushed herself back.  She heard him gasp as she did so.

"Not like this."  She mumbled softly.  Her heart ached as she saw the rejection wash over his face.  His head hung low.

      "What did you say?"

She shook her head,  "Oh nothing."  A smile rose up on her lips.  She adjusted herself as she stood up.  Rob brought his head up to look at her.  "Cheer up, the night is young.  Now I don't want my food getting cold."

Rob returned the feign smile.  Ivy knelt back on the ground.  Her head spinned as she picked up the metal utensil and retreated back to scarfing down her dinner.  At that moment Ivy Myung realized something.  She realized that in this situation, their situation, she had to think of not only herself.  She could not be selfish, that would only ruin what the two of them had.  And Ivy cared far too much for the man that sat centimeters away to let him slip away.

OLIVIA'S OPINIONS
everything that rob said about cedric in this chapter is what he has said in interviews, so don't come
