Heard of but never known
My name becoming less of my own
Hiding it from the spotlight because no one can know
The image behind this writing is women is disguise
Strangers reading these pages
Reading the changes, the critics have made
Altering these words to fit in with society
The real me slowly fading into the shadows of the unknown
Silence is all that I can offer myself
This decision causing psychological disputes
Events that have put me in an emotional crisis
Leading to an outpouring of poetry
Days where hope feels out of place
Anxiety and frustration coming after me
This is where hope laid in the body of manuscripts
This is the way to contact the literary public
Are people deeply occupied to see if my verse is alive
Torment written all over the place
Is this not the fresh talent that is being looked for?
Critics who judge writers like entrees
Puzzled touched and fascinated
Eyes staring you down watching the chills run up my spine
Blood, sweat, and tears on every page just to be swept away
No longer captured when these words are on a page
Companionship and encouragement at the palms of these hands
Helping anger work these words onto a page
Words so vivid yet so misunderstood
They want to change these words to silence my thoughts
Thoughts that have the meaning of life
Slipping away each time the clock ticks
But does not change because of mindless games
Rejected by your mind to accept change
Overlooked like children out to play
These words speak to you and dance across the page
The mind has no limitation it's a world of its own
Pens lifted high fighting in war
In these times of success
Your deathbed calling for you to rest
This body is becoming vulnerable
Wanting nothing more than to just sleep
I need time away from these pages-
I lay here-
you stay- there
To close my eyes for a minute
That minute may lead to many more
These pages can wait- and watch-
As this body will come to rot-
And die -
