___________
time: 6:02 PM
"is he even coming?"
you enter the 7/11, eyes
immediately on the stack
of push pops they have.
"hmmmmm."
you grab 5 for yourself,
and 2 for levi, because no
matter what he says, you
know he likes—liked them,
at least.
after all, he is the one who
gave you his extra back in 5th
grade.
???
"you're here."
you hear from behind you,
a voice so clear suddenly
everything around you is
nonexistent.
a voice that belonged to levi
ackerman, himself.
"yeah, i'm here."
a smile graced your features
as you stared at him, attention
no longer to the candy.
"you're here."
levi ackerman
"precisely."
you look away, trying to hide
your laugh.
levi ackerman
"what?"
"i can't believe this....
you are so small....?!"
levi ackerman
"i hope you shrink."
he flicks your forehead, seeing
7 push pops in your hand.
levi ackerman
"surely you don't need that
much."
"no, no. the five are mine,
the other two are yours."
levi clicked his tongue, moving
to the chips section.
levi ackerman
"i don't want that shit—"
"shut up, shorty. you know
you do, no need to be so
embarrassed."
he stayed silent before he left
you to get chips and whatever
else.
"can you get me doritos?"
levi ackerman
"get them yourself."
"this is the first we've seen
each other since five years ago,
i'd expect you to be more...
of a gentleman, you know."
levi ackerman
"what? just grab the damn
doritos and pay, dumbass."
"chivalry is dead, and you're
proving it."
he ignores you, making his
way to the cashier.
levi ackerman
"does it look like i give
a damn?"
"well...you came here because
you wanted to, so yea—"
he cuts you off.
levi ackerman
"you wouldn't have stopped
if i didn't."
you glare at him as he payed,
while mocking him.
"yOu wOuLdN't hAvE
sToPpEd iF i dIdN't."
and then you realized he was
the one who payed for your
stuff.
"wa—wait! i was going to
pay for mine, fucker!"
he turned back to you and
the glare he gave was as if he
was puzzled.
levi ackerman
"i'm being a gentleman."
"oh, is that so?"
he lowly laughs, handing you
your bag of snacks.
levi ackerman
"no way. you're paying me
back, you gullible ass."
"sure, okay."
"you really should laugh
more often. you have a
nice laugh."
there was a moment of silence
before you walk away, opening
the door to head out.
"why are you still standing
there? let's go to the park,
next!"
levi ackerman
"right behind you."
when you turned back to the
front, a flustered levi was left
walking behind you.
___________
time: 6:20 PM — the park
luckily for you, the place
wasn't crowded at all today.
it was a good day too—windy,
and the sun was still setting.
you kind of regret asking
him sooner, because then
you wouldn't have missed
the sunset.
"next time, remind me to
ask you earlier."
levi ackerman
"why?"
"cause it's better and lighter
during the start of a sunset."
levi ackerman
"if that's what you want."
the both of you stayed silent,
and sat on the bench in peace
as there wasn't much to say.
it was the comfortable kind
of silence, though. it felt nice.
you side-eyed the raven haired
man, who looked to the sky,
lost in thought.
"you okay?"
levi ackerman
"what did you say?"
"i said, are you okay?"
his brows furrow.
levi ackerman
"well, i am."
"whatever you're thinking
of must be taking a toll on
you."
levi ackerman
"yeah. probably."
you look back to the front,
seeing as the sun has almost
fully set.
"um..how have you been?"
levi ackerman
"fine, nothing out of the
ordinary."
"you?"
"better."
levi ackerman
"explain 'better'."
"i mean, you're back. which
is why i'm better."
did you have to say things
that would have gotten him
flustered all the time?
and by the looks of it, you
didn't realize that.
"you've gone quiet."
levi ackerman
"is it so bad to be? you know,
quiet."
"did i say something wrong?"
"do you even want to be here?
or did you really only come
because i forced you?"
"you know if you really didn't
want to go, i would be okay
with tha—"
your blabbering sickened him.
exactly because he did not think
you forced him, and he went
voluntarily, and that he genuinely
wanted to see you.
but he'd never admit that
to you.
levi ackerman
"can you...be quiet for a
moment?"
"huh?"
levi ackerman
"...i—"
"i'm here, isn't that all
that matters?"
your eyes widen. you never
thought him to be the one to
say such things.
"will it matter if you don't
even wanna be here?"
levi ackerman
"then why am i still here
with you if i didn't?"
"..."
he claims he'd never admit it.
but if it's for your sake, maybe
then he would.
levi ackerman
"don't overthink it too much.
i wouldn't have agreed to go if
i didn't want to come, stupid."
"you mean it?"
levi ackerman
"sadly."
you laugh, making him smile
but he was grateful it was
dark enough for you not to
notice.
"want a push pop?"
"it's either yes or yes, levi."
you missed this.
levi ackerman
"you aren't giving me a
choice."
he takes the push pop
from your hand, rolling
his eyes.
"i knew you wanted some!
here, i told you i had two
for you, take this one."
and maybe, just slightly,
he missed this, too.
