Court was quick to bring us back to the cabin after we had all the things that he needed from Lucia's. Once the cabin came into view Court brought Celeste over to his stall and rode him in before dismounting and helping me down.

I took all my clothes as Court removed Celeste's tack and patted his neck before giving him a treat. Celeste was quick to start grazing on the hay as Court came over to me and smiled.

"Ready to go in?" Court asked and I nodded as I followed him into the cabin.

Lyell was in the kitchen with Xerxes when we came in and the two were cooking dinner. Some sort of soup.

"I'm going to go put the clothes away." I told Court who nodded with a smile as he moved out of my way. I left the three alone as I went down to Court and I's bedroom and entered before going to the wardrobe.

I put all the clothes up with a smile and decided to keep one dress out.

This dress was made of a typical cotton fabric with fur around the neck area and arms. The color is a black color. The fur is black as well except in a few spots in the front where Lucia had managed to get a dark maroon color into the fur.

I smiled as I set the dress down near the bed deciding I would wear that one tomorrow.

With that all sorted out I removed my cloak and went out into the main section of the cabin. Lyell was leaned up on the counter laughing at something Court had said while Xerxes smiled at him.

"Your serious?" Lyell asked.

"Serious as can be Lyell. Lotus is pregnant." Court told him and Lyell let out one more laugh before smiling.

"Well congratulations to Lotus. A year later and she's finally expecting. I was beginning to think Thorin was shooting blanks." Lyell joked with a grin on his face. His gold eyes twinkled with amusement as he pushed himself up.

The three looked oddly human talking and joking about Lotus's pregnancy. Despite Lyell joking they all seemed decently happy. Lotus wasn't kidding with the whole high spirits regarding pregnancy.

Even people from a different pack seemed delighted. Or at least happy for Lotus.

Court looked over and smiled at me as I came in. Xerxes caught Court's gaze and went over to the stove and removed the pot of soup. "Dinner should be done now. Lyell and I made beef stew, we even made biscuits to go with. I think Lyell and I did a decent job." Xerxes looked proud of himself as he took down bowls.

Court beckoned me over as Lyell went over to help Xerxes get servings. I smiled at Court as I stopped beside him and waited.

Xerxes handed Court a bowl. "Smells good." Court commented and Xerxes smiled.

"Hope it's to your liking princess." Lyell smirked a little at the name.

"I'm not a princess." I told him and Lyell let out a small chuckle as he arched a white eyebrow at me.

"Hm, I thought being the lover of a prince may you a princess, guess I haven't brushed up on my knowledge of human royalty. I'll be sure to on my next trip to the city." Lyell responded as heat rushed to my cheeks at the mention of me being Court's lover.

Is that what I am?

The mark on my collarbone, the area where Court had bitten me marked me as his. He never went into extreme detail about it, but from what I had gathered you didn't just go around doing what he had done.

Court also made it known he did it to protect me. To keep me alive and out of the hands of any curious unmated males who decided to press Court.

Lyell could be considered one of them. Although he hadn't pressed into me much since the first time I had come here. He mostly just gave me looks and occasionally would say something when I came to get books.

A lot better than having to be harassed by him. I like to believe Court would stop him though. Xerxes words made it seem Court would. Luckily, I wouldn't have to put it to test.

"Princesses are made through marriage if they aren't born. And no one would ever know about Ruby. I can't exactly bring her into the village." Court responded and Lyell shook his head before got himself a bowl of the soup.

We went over to the table and began eating. For their first-time making biscuits, they were quite scrumptious. They weren't like my grandmothers, but they are still good. I was still pleased with them. I ended up getting myself a second biscuit and mixed it with the broth before being done with the meal.

"Thank you for the soup." I thanked Lyell and Xerxes. Lyell simply nodded keeping his attention on his soup while Xerxes sent me a smile.

I didn't want to intrude anymore so I was quick back to the room to wait for Court.

Once in the room I removed my day dress and got myself into my night clothes before deciding to light a fire in the fireplace. It took me a bit before I had figured it out. Thankfully, I had watched Court when he had done it.

The air in the room had begun to get chilly and nip at my skin. I sat in front of the fireplace on the fur rug with a new book in hand. I had gotten an interest in some of the fantasy books Lyell has. I am still reading Azula's journal, but the fantasy books are easier to fade into.

Not long after starting the book Court came in and smiled at me. "Were you cold?" Court asked.

I nodded. "Yeah, it was getting chilly in here, so I started a fire." I told him and Court nodded as he came over and sat down next to me.

I smiled at him before marking my book and turning to him with a smile.

"You don't mind me sitting with you right?" Court asked.

"Not at all." I told him scooting a bit closer to him before my leg brushed up against mine. Court looked back at the fire as he settled down. The fire reflected in his amber eyes as I watched him with a bit of a smile.

"So, did you like the clothes Lucia made you?" Court asked breaking the silence.

"I do, they're pretty." I told him and Court smiled as he turned back to the fireplace, and we sat there in silence.

I looked over at him my eyes trailing over to his lips. He stared into the fire with a bit of a smile on his face causing his lips to go upwards.

I'm not sure what possessed me, but when Court looked over upon noticing me staring, I kissed him. No hesitation involved just leaned forward and kissed him. Court froze for a moment, and I expected him to push me away and prepared for the sting of rejection.

But it quickly dissolved when he did push me, but it wasn't away. He pushed me backwards near the frame of the bed but came with me. His right hand brushed over my cheek as he moved closer to me.

My hands sunk into his shirt as he leaned over me kissing me before kissing my cheek and then my neck. I couldn't help the small moan that escaped my lips when he kissed right over where the bite mark is.

His hands sunk down towards my dress and moved upwards. I arched my neck towards him as his hand pressed against my undergarments. His fingers gently brushed over a few times before making circular rubbing motions.

As he began moving my clothes around, I began unbuttoning his shirt. My fingers traced down his abdomen to his trousers and hooking in one of the loops.

"Court." His name was a breathless moan on my lips.

Just as his fingers tightened on a strap, he pulled himself back taking in deep breaths as he shook his head. I let go of his trousers right as he pulled away.

"Is something wrong?" I asked and Court shook his head.

"Nothing is wrong Ruby, I just--- we shouldn't do it. I need to stop before I get carried away." Court told me. He pushed himself back before he buttoned his shirt up and took a deep breath before pushing a hand through his hair.

His eyes shifted back over to my exposed neck where the healed bite was now on display. I glanced over at it. The scar is redder than it typically is from Court kissing right there and him sucking around the area.

He sighed as he came back over. He kissed me again before pulling back and resting his forehead against mine before pulling back.

"I promise you Ruby that I want you, I want you so bad Ruby. You have no idea the amount of restraint it's taking me not to rip that flimsy nightgown off you and fuck you on that bed. But gods above, would you believe me if I told you that I don't want to because you're the most fertile right now?" Court asked.

I smiled a little. "I wouldn't believe you." I told him.

Court smiled. "Did Lotus tell you about how precious children are to us I assume?" Court asked and I nodded.

"It's fine if you don't want to tell me Court. I'll take what I can get." I told him.

Court looked over to me. "Ruby, I do want you. Don't ever think I'm embarrassed of you. Because I'm not. I promise you Ruby, one day I will have you on this bed underneath me moaning. It's a promise." Court told me as he smiled at me.

"I'll be sure to hold you to that." I told him as I stood up.

Court smiled. "I'll be counting on it." Court responded and I smiled at him.

"I'm going to go to bed now if you want to join me." I told him and Court smiled.

"Now I won't pass up on that." Court mused before we got into bed enjoying the warmth of each other instead of other things we could've been doing.

1720. Court shows the *self-restraint* that others lack. Honestly, Court is one of my favorite characters. He's awesome. Definitely going to do some art of him and Ruby once I find a good reference. ***
