Song: Rihanna - Nobody's business.
Imagine; you're Steve's little sister, you run with him every morning. You run into Sam one morning and you can't stop flirting.
•••
'I'm just saying Steve... that Lillian... from accounting you could give her a chance...'
'With the piercings and tats? I'm not ready for that Y/n...'
'Or maybe...' a smirk grows on your face, Steve immediately rolls his eyes, he knows exactly what that mouth of yours is gonna say, he hates admitting that you're right. 'Maybe you're in love with a certain Russian spy?'
'Don't know who you're referring to...' he jogs on.
'Liar...' you reply. 'Natasha Romanoff...' there's a falter in his step which confirms your suspicion.
'Nothing breaks your concentration when running Mister Goody two shoes... you don't fool me... you've got the hots for her... MY BROTHER IS FINALLY IN LOVE!'
'I loved Peggy...' he scoffs. 'Past tense Steve... past tense... you can admit it.. I won't tell anyone I promise..'
'Yeah because you're known for keeping your mouth shut...'
'Whaaaaaat? I'm like Fury...' you throw in a couple spy moves making him burst out in laughter.
Even after more than 70 years in the ice, you're still the brother and sister that can't live without each other, but also can't live with each other. It's a love, hate, tease relationship.
Still Steve is happy to at least have something from the past. You pull him back to reality, like now. He's been pining over Nat for months. Debating wether or not to ask her out, but with your help and convincing, who knows?
'Havent we passed this guy like eight times already?' You ask as you run up to indeed that same man.
'Yeah... watch this..' Steve's mischief shines in his eyes and you tsk at him. 'Seriously? Still the same little shit you used to be huh?'
'Duh..' he chuckles.
He rushes past the man "on your left!" He says and the man audibly groans.
'Come on man!' He picks up his pace but of course it can't match up to macho macho man, Steve Rogers.
'Sorry bout him...' you apologise. The man startles and you laugh a little.
A smile grows on his face, he obviously knows who you are, reading simple body language is something you mastered at a young age, don't ask why.
'I'm Sam...and I am guessing, you're his sister...'
'His sister... has a name, you know...' you smirk at him, easily keeping up the pace while he's over there breathing heavily.
'Which is?'
'Y/n Rogers...' you salute him. 'So.. it's it just Sam, like Cher or Beyoncé or does Sam actually have a last name attached to it?'
'Wilson... Sam Wilson...'
'Very James Bond like... I like it Sam...' you chuckle. Your smile however slowly drops when you see he's quite literally about to pass out.
'Hey come on.. let's stop for a second... here..' you slow your pace and lead him towards a tree. 'Sit down...' you order him.
'Need a medic?'
'For a hero you're kind of a dick, Steven...' you scold as you check up on Sam, who is still practically a stranger.
Sam laughs at your demeanour. He likes you already. 'I need a new set of lungs. Dude, you just ran like 13 miles in 30 minutes. You too...' he glances at you.
'I guess I got a late start.'
'Again Steve... dick...' you roll your eyes. 'Well they always say, don't meet your heroes.. sorry he turns out to be like this..'
'Enough Y/n...' Steve chuckles.
'Oh, really? You got a late start? You should be ashamed of yourself. You should take another lap.' Sam waits for a second, smirking at your surprised face, normally people don't snap back at him like that besides you. 'Did you just take it? I assumed you just took it.'
'What unit you with?' Steve asks, obviously starting a male conversation. God you hate him sometimes, he of course is trying to keep you from flirting with this handsome man.
'58, Pararescue. But now I'm working down at the VA.'
'Sam Wilson.'
'Steve Rogers.'
'Yeah I kind of put that together. Must have freaked you out coming home after the whole defrosting thing.'
'It takes some getting used to. It's good to meet you, Sam.' You wink at him as you help him up.
'It's your bed, right?'
'What's that?'
'Your bed, it's too soft. That's the reason you're up so early... When I was over there I'd sleep on the ground and use rock for pillows, like a caveman. Now I'm home, lying in my bed, and it's like...'
'Lying on a marshmallow. Feel like I'm gonna sink right to the floor.'
'If you wouldn't be such a beefcake, you wouldn't actually sink through it...' you joke making both men laugh. 'But I agree.. Marshmallows...'
'How long?'
'Two tours.' An awkward silence follows.
'You must miss the good old days, huh?'
'Well, things aren't so bad. Food's a lot better, we used to boil everything. No polio is good. Internet, so helpful. I've been reading that a lot trying to catch up.' Steve explains while you cross your arms.
'Marvin Gaye, 1972, "Trouble Man" soundtrack. Everything you've missed jammed into one album.'
'I'll put it on the list.'
'Oh because he tells you and not because I do? I've been trying to get him to listen to it for weeks...'
'Really? You a fan?'
'Uh Yeah... Its great!' You smile.
Steves phone beeps and Sam noticed your smile falter a little as your head turns to your brother. "Mission alert. Extraction imminent. Meet at the curb. :)" it's Natasha.
The smirk returns. So she does put emojis on only his messages. Interesting.
'Alright, Sam, duty calls. Thanks for the run. If that's what you wanna call running.'
'Oh, that's how it is?'
'Oh, that's how it is.' Steve replies chuckling.
'Okay. Any time you wanna stop by the VA, make me look awesome in front of the girl at the front desk, just let me know.' Sam jokes. Oh so he's already crushing on someone.
'I'll keep it in mind.'
'Okay. But just so you know I was joking... I don't want to impress the desk girl..' he replies side eyeing you.
'Hey, fellas. Either one of you know where the Smithsonian is? I'm here to pick up a fossil.' The familie female voice comes from the curb. Steve rolls his eyes.
'That's hilarious. You got that one from Y/n?' He scoffs as he moves over to the car and opens the door.
'I did...' she winks at you. You raise your hand and wiggle your fingers to say hi to her.
'Can't run everywhere.' Steve comments to Sam.
'No, you can't.' Sam agrees.
'Be careful Stevie...'
'I will...' Steve assures you before Nat speeds off.
It gets silent again. This is where the nerves kick in because Sam is so much different from the boys in the 1940's. He's this cool guy that understands you. To a certain level I mean, he hasn't been a lobster like you have.
'You're not going with him?' Sam asks, silently suggesting to continue walking with him.
'No... I uh... they say I'm too aggressive for missions..' you act all serious. 'I may have killed a guy on the last one...'
Sams eyes go wide and you burst out in laughter pulling him right with you. 'I'm kidding, I'm not cleared yet... still have some physical damage...'
'Oh... Well in that case.. if you're not doing anything else then maybe... you wanna join me for some breakfast?'
'Yeah... I would like that...' you smile at him.

BONUS!
•••
'Morning...' you kiss Sam's cheek while dragging your hand across his arm lovingly.
You lay your head against his arm as you watch him make breakfast for you. 'You sleep well?'
'Your mattress ain't no marshmallow...' You hum. He shakes from the chuckle he gives you. 'So I slept well, considering everything going on with my brother at the moment...'
'Yeah, Its kinda shitty...'
'Yeah...' you sigh. 'But I'm glad you're there to comfort me...'
'Oh so that's what I am now? Your little comfort blanket?' He jokes.
'I was thinking more of a pacifier type of situation... but hey whatever keeps you happy...' you tease before leaning in to capture his lips with yours.
'I have to pay attention to the eggs.. babe...' he mutters against your lips. 'Fine...' You fake pout at him.
There's a loud knock on the door. 'Can you get it for me? Probably my sister...'
'Yeah...' you answer before walking to the door and pulling up the blinds.
'Y/n?' Steve asks confused while Nat just gives you a knowing smirk.
'Fuck.' You mutter. 'Uhm Sam... it's not your sister...' you call out to him as you open the door.
'What are you doing here?' Steve asks.
'You're the ones covered in dust... you tell me what you're doing here... and I think you know what I'm doing here...'
