"I just-How did I get so unlucky. I'm grateful for my how hard my parents work, and I know that I'll sound selfish by saying this," George took a large breath in and Clay gently rubbed his back, "I wish my parents actually showed me some affection sometimes, you know. It hurts when they don't even check on me in the mornings or make dinner and have friendly conversation." Clay nodded in understanding. George only got more frustrated as he got up from the couch and began to pace back and forth.

"I just want your parents. At least they care! At least they notice when something is different! My parents never even bothered when I started to bawl my eyes out at night! My parents didn't give a fuck when I'd spend hours in the bathroom late at night, making a ruckus!" George was shouting and ranting as Clay acted like a wall, only listening and nodding as the brunette continued for another couple of minutes.

When George had finally quieted down and was back sitting on the couch, Clay held him close as they just let the silence invade for a few.

The silence threatened them, yet it secured them. Clay didn't want to say anything, knowing he would sound bias and with George being so upset, he could freak out on him. That's not what they needed on their first day of being together. An argument.

It wasn't until George's phone dinged with a notification that the silence was broken. "Huh, that's new. I never get any notifications unless it's from you." Clay shrugged as a reply to George's question and leaned over George to see his phone. The notification read, 'Mom'.

George clicked it, opening his messenger app and bringing up the new text. George read the message aloud, "My mom says that she wants me home now." George looked at Clay in hopes of reassurance but what could Clay give that wouldn't make him mad right now?

"I can drive you home." Clay offered in which George accepted immediately. So, Clay got up from the couch with George and walked into the kitchen where the rest of the family rested, cleaning up dinner, and told them that he would be back soon.

They walked with haste to gather their things and to get into the car. The rain was pouring down, worse than earlier that day. The wind and dark sky set the mood.

George grabbed his things from the backseats then opened the passenger door to leave. As if in a Déjà vu, Clay repeated what he did the first time he dropped George off. Placing his hand on the George's shoulder he spoke with hope, "Goodnight Georgie." George smiled and leaned back into the car, this time being the one to initiate a kiss.

The kiss was short and sweet, full of passion still, and when they separated, they both had large smiles on their faces. "Goodnight, Clay!" George called out while closing the car door. Clay waved and waited until George was at his front door to pull away and drive back to his own house.

George pulled out his spare keys to the house from his backpack, though by the time he found them and was just about to place them inside the keyhole, the doorknob began to wiggle. Soon enough, George was met with his mom.

"Hey George, I want to talk to you." She firmly states, gesturing George inside like he was a guest not a family member. George places his things down and takes off his shoes before following his mom into the living room where she said to take a seat on the couch. She took a seat on the chair by the couch.

"W-What are you wanting t-to talk about?" George asked nervously. It could be about so many things. It could be about beating up Clarance. It could be about causing himself harm. It could be about the sudden boost of socializing he's done. For god's sake, it could be about him and Clay dating.

"The school called me today. Said you beat up a kid named Clarance?" She said it like it was normal. She barely knew George but from what she did know was that there was no way her son would beat up someone for no reason. That wasn't how she raised him when he was young.

George nodded. He could lie, but he felt no reason to.

"So, why did you?"

George looked away from his mom. It pained him to think back to that uncomfortable, vile, touch. It pained him to think back to the manipulative and detrimental words Clarance spoke. But how else would his mom believe him. "He-He has been harassing me, s-sexually. I had enough it, so I d-defended myself." he stuttered. He hoped she would just believe him.

She nodded, "Okay, I figured you wouldn't do it without a reason. I'll call the principal and see if I can get him to understand as well. Thank you for telling me, George." Then there was silence. Terrible and awkward silence. The type of silence that would buzz around like a fly and you wanted to smash that annoying fly with a fly swatter.

His mom broke the quiet, "So, how have you been. I feel like I haven't seen or talked to you in ages." At least she was somewhat admitting to it.

((Very slight TW: Mentions of Self Harm))

"I've been okay. Could be better probably." He barely glanced at his newly scared wrists, "Um, Clarance hasn't been the nicest person. For quite a while actually, he's been bullying me. H-He says things like how I should, uh, cut m-myself." he wanted to tell her everything, but kept it very limited and broad.

His mom's face softened, she looked to even have teary eyes, "George, why didn't you tell us? I could have gotten the principal on your side faster or I could have helped you. Are you okay?" she thought it was all her fault, that she could have done something to prevent this. That she could right the wrong in a terrible person.

"I'm okay, mom. Clay has helped a ton. I-I'm better now." he cleared up, completely passing over the fact that he wasn't okay, that he had indeed hurt himself. "It's not your fault, it's Clarance's. You couldn't have done anything to stop it." He reassured her, resting his hand on her knee. She nodded and wiped a tear that streaked her face.

((TW over))

"And Clay is one of your oldest friends, right?" George nodded. He and Clay met in the sixth grade, just two boys ready for middle school, ready to meet new friends, ready to enjoy turning into teenagers. "Yeah, I remember him. Good boy, indeed."

"Yeah, um, I guess maybe I should tell you something about him and I." George decided he would tell his mom about their relationship. His dad was sleeping already and who knows how he would act, but his mom should be better to talk to anyway.

"What's that?" she looked to be happier, a light smile on her face.

"Clay and I, we are-uh-" he couldn't just spit out the words. It was harder to be confident without Clay helping him. He really was just a lost puppy without Clay.

"Dating?" her smile grew larger as George's face grew red and he nodded. "That's so cool George! She got up from her chair and gave him a hug. George relaxed; this is the touch he needed from family for the last year. He squeezed her tight before they both separated and smiled cheerfully at each other.

"Thank you, mom. I'm sure your tired though. You should go sleep." George told her. She nodded in agreement, even yawning to add onto the proof that she was tired. She waved and said goodnight before walking up the stairs and into her room.

George sat back down on the couch and took a few minutes to collect his thoughts. He knew this was a one-time thing. That she wouldn't talk to him for a while. Weeks, maybe even months. But this was better. He now knew that he had another person who he could talk to and rant to. Someone who could be his parental guide that he's always needed in these last couple of years.

He sighed and got up, soon making it to his room. Once in his room he collapsed on his bed and checked his phone once more. There was one message from Clay.

Clay: Hope all went well! Goodnight Georgie! See ya tomorrow! <3

George smirked at his little text and reread it a couple of times before sending a reply back.

George: It went really well! I'll tell you more in the morning!

George: Goodnight Clay! :]

George turned his phone off after setting an alarm for 7am.

Tomorrow was going to be good. He just knew it would be.
