"WHAT THE HELL REGGIE" I scream at my not-so-loyal boyfriend as I walk up to him. After he turns around to face me, it obviously he knows exactly what I was yelling about. He had his signature guilty smirk on his face, and I hated it with every bone in my body.
"Oh hey babe, what seems to be the matter" he says, Reggie was going to make me say it. I had already made a scene, about 20 college students were looking at us, but I didn't care. The only thing I cared about was showing Reggie how much he hurt me by his betrayal.
I sighed, I started to tear up, knowing that this was the end of us. Pulling all my strength I had, I simply looked at him and said "You fucked Veronica lodge"
Veronica and I had been best friends since we were little. That is until she broke down last night in my dorm and confessed she and my boyfriend had hooked up the night before.
My world crumpled when she told me what she had done.
The 2 people I trusted the most lied straight to my face. I was hurt but Reggie and I had Been fighting for awhile so this is for the best.
Reggie stared at me for a moment almost confused about how I knew, "Whatever bullshit your little friend fed you isn't true, Cherly. The bitch fucking hates me" he scoffed. "You're lying, you wanna know how I know?" I snapped at him. He looked at me with a challenging look, with a sigh I pulled out my phone knowing the last video Veronica had sent me Reggie scoffed, "A text won't prove shit C"
I shook my head while turned my phone to him so he could see what was displayed on it, "oh so a video of you fucking Veronica won't prove shit? Because I can see your 2 inch dick inside my best friend" I was yelling again. But I didn't care, he had lied to me twice now.
He lied the night he hooked up with Veronica, and he was lying to me right now.
Defeat washed over his face, not because he was losing me, but because he was caught. "Fine I hooked up with her. I'm sorry babe, I can fix this. Let's go back to my apartment" he spoke to me softly.
I used to love when he spoke like that, it helped me remember where I was after a nightmare or when I was having a panic attack. But now, instead of trying to comfort me, he was try to manipulate me.
Reggie lend in to kiss me but I instinctively slapped him. He turned to face me slowly, he looked angry. No more than angry, oh my god, he's gonna kill me. "LISTEN YOU BI-" he was cut off a large figure pushing their way in between us, the mystery woman landed a punch into Reggie's jaw. I fell from this person pushing her way to separate us.
Reggie was a big guy, but whoever this woman was, was bigger. I saw Reggie hit the ground, covered in blood, I screamed. He looked dead but instead of remaining dead he opened his eyes and yelled at me "THIS IS YOUR FAULT, I'LL GET YOU BACK"
He got up and ran away, probably to his car, but I stayed still on the ground. Then my mystery hero knelt down to face me, god she was gorgeous. She looked she didn't know what to say, the woman had her mouth opened but no words came out, she just pulled me into a hug.
After a couple minutes of me silently weeping in her arms, she finally spoke, "I'm so sorry about him, do you need a ride anywhere Love?" I sniffled into her shoulder and shook my head no in response. "Then at least let me help you up" she said in a soft comforting tone. I nodded her ok, I was soon being lifted up onto my feet. I wiped under my eyes in a weak attempt to make myself look like less of a mess. Finally meet the eyes of the woman who saved me from Reggie's rage. I gave a weak smile, still unable to talk. I couldn't tell if I could because of what just happened with my boyfriend or because the woman in front of me was gorgeous, her suit hugged her huge muscles perfectly. She had beautiful brown glowing eyes, beautiful brown hair with pink tips at the end of her hair, and tattoos covering her hands and neck, I'm sure they cover her whole body. She was perfect in every way. The beautiful stranger finally broke the silence, "I'm Toni by the way" she offered a kind smile. Jesus and this woman had a perfect smile, I finally snapped out of my trance to speak "I- I'm Cher" returning her a smile. Toni let out a small chuckle, "Why don't we get you away from here, I can drive you home or get you something to eat if you want" she said confidently. I don't know why but I automatically felt safe with Toni, so I took her up on her kind offer "I could actually go for some food" I said shyly. She gave me a big grin "Alright let hit the road, what sounds good?" We started to walk to wherever his car was on campus "How about a good burger, there's this cool joint on 25th" I said said starting to relax in her company. "Perfect" she replies.
After a short walk we made it to her car, her car matches her suit. Expensive, clean, and dark. I stood in shock for a moment as she approached the passenger door. Reggie never opened doors for me so the gesture confused me. "Did that piece of shit never open doors for you?" Toni said with slightly angry look on her perfect face. "I'm no, not really" I said awkwardly. She shook her head in disgust, "well that changes today love" she says with a wink. I let out a giggle and got into her $100,000 sport car. Within seconds she was in the drivers side pulling out of the parking lot.
She hummed with the music playing from her radio and drove smoothly the thru the college town. Sitting in silence always made me uncomfortable so I eventually mustered up the courage to speak "Th-Thank you for stoping Reggie it means a lot" she finally looked over at me with a grinned spread across her face "Of course love, someone as beautiful as you shouldn't have to deal with assholes like him" I smiled at her shyly, she let out a huff as her brows furrowed "Has he tried to hit you before?" I didn't know what to say, Reggie when angry had taken it out on me before but I have never told someone about Reggie's abuse. But Toni's kind eyes got the best of me and I spilled my guts "Yes, whenever he got angry he would hit me. He always apologized after but he left bruises every time" I began to cry again thinking about how scared I was of Reggie. Toni immediately pulled over once she saw the tears running down my face. "I'm sorry, I'm probably ruining your whole night. I can walk back to my dorm" without thinking I began to open the door to leave Toni alone, but the doors clicked, indicating she had locked them. I felt a hand on my thigh "You are far from ruining my night Cher, and I'm not going to run the risk of you running into the good for nothing ex boyfriend of yours, ok?" Her words calmed me easily. Her hand moved from my thigh to my cheek, she wiped my tears away gently "Thank you Toni" I barely whispered while putting my hand on top of hers. I felt electricity course through my body when she touched me and I wanted to kiss her so bad, but I'm a disaster and definitely not in mental state to even get slightly physical with someone. Even if that woman is better than my ex in every in every possible way.
Right as Toni leaned in to kiss me, my phone rang. Toni let out another huff, putting her forehead against mine "You should probably take that love" she whispered. She pulled away as I took my phone out. Of course, it's my uncle with an eye roll I answered "Hey, is something wrong?" My uncle and step aunt were my my legal guardians after my parents passed in a car crash when I was 12. My step aunt treated me like shit while my uncle did nothing about it. "Nothing is wrong Honey, we just need you home tonight for the gala tomorrow evening" my uncle said kindly as possible. I hated going back there, my cousins and step aunt hate me and my uncle won't stand up for me. But I have to go, with a sigh I say "Ok, I'll be home tonight but I might have to come down tomorrow morning" "Ok Honey, see you soon" and then he hangs up.
"Everything alright Love?" Toni says with a slightly concerned tone. "Uh yeah just have to go to this stupid party tomorrow at my uncles" "Ah tell me about it, my father is always making me go to these galas. Tomorrow I meet the woman I'm required to marry in order to take over the family business." She says obviously annoyed at the thought. "You mean like an arranged marriage?" I questioned, she nods her head quietly proving my theory to be true. I felt bad for Toni, she seems to good for something like that.
We finally made our way to the burger joint and ate our food. "Wow I'm impressed you can eat that much" Toni jokingly tells me while she is devouring her own burger and fries. I let out a small laugh "There's a lot more to me than meets the eye" "I'm starting to see that Love" she says with an adorable smile.
Soon after we finished our food and began to go find her car, the temperature had dropped quite a bit and I was feeling pretty chilly in my jeans and crop top. Toni seemed to notice because all the sudden her suit jacket was around my shoulders and her hand found it's place on my waist. Without thinking moved closer to her, feeling slightly warmer and a lot safer "So where should I take you? You can stay at mine if you don't feel safe at your place" she said shyly while rubbing the back of her neck. I barely knew this woman but I felt the urge to stay with her, but I had to be at my uncles by tomorrow so I couldn't. "I actually have to be at my uncles house soon so you can just take me back to my dorm" she looked almost sad I didn't agree to go to her place but it was for the best. "Well I can drive you to your uncles, where is it anyways" Toni asked "Uh like an hour south of here, you don't have to drive me that far, I can just go early tomorrow" I said not wanting to waste her gas or time. "Really? Perfect my parents place is about an hour south too and I have to be there tomorrow as well, we can just road trip it tonight" she said with a big grin plastered on her face. "Sounds great, let's do it!" I giggled out while taking her hand to head to her car.
We got into the car and I put my uncles address into her navigator, 30 minutes into our trip I fell asleep against the window. The last thing I remember was waking up to head into the house after saying goodbye to Toni.
