It was finally 29th November 2009! The day I turn 22! I was very excited, so I woke up early and decided to check my phone for any messages. There were none, I thought Tom would at least drop a text since he hasn't already barged into my home like he always does on every one of my birthdays.
I shook my head thinking that it was still pretty early, so they might have not even woken up. I got out of bed and headed straight to the showers. After taking a calming shower, I draped a towel around my body and headed downstairs to make some breakfast. I made some pancakes and ate it. I was surprised to see that there weren't any texts from my Dad, he's like the first person to wish me.
Tom and my Dad always have a competition to see who wishes me first on my birthday. I opened my Instagram and instantly smiled as millions of my fans wished me a loving birthday. I replied to each one of their edits, pictures, videos or messages. It took a while but I couldn't complete it, so I quickly put on a large sweater and placed my camera on the counter with support.
"Hey, guys! Thank you so much, for your wonderful birthday wishes. I've tried replying to a few of them, I actually spend the past two hours just replying to few of the edits or messages. But even if I didn't reply to yours, doesn't mean I didn't see it, I did. Thank you, thank you so much. It means a lot coming from you guys. I think I'll go live later or maybe not, can't promise. But once again, thank you so much for the wishes. I love you all!"
I recorded the video and posted it on my wall for the fans to see. I looked at the time and it was 10 AM, everyone should be awake by now. I think they forgot my birthday. But how could they, it's my birthday? Okay, Y/N, either you need to start acting like a 22 year old or you have to be less cocky.
I called my dad first, but he didn't pick up, maybe he's busy. I rang Tom, even he didn't receive. Then I called up Emma, "Hey, girl" she said merrily. "Hey, babe, I was thinking maybe we could spend the day?"
"Y/N, only you are on leave today, we all have our jobs, so, maybe next time" she said and hung up. I pouted and set the phone down. I roamed around my own loft and getting tired of absolutely having nothing to do, I decided to head out.
I posed for the Gram, posted it on my story and headed out.
The day went by pretty boring, since even outside my house, I didn't have anything to do. I drove by Starbucks, got a coffee, drove around the city for a while, then headed for lunch over at Mrs. Perry's. She knew my birthday, so I got so happy when she wished me. She hugged me and said, "Anything for you today, on the house"
"No, no, Mrs. P, there's no need for that, I'll just have some cheesy fries, since none of the dates I have been going to seem to work out, so why watch my weight?" I said rolling my eyes. "For the dates to work out, you need to try to move on, are you doing that?" she pointed out making me shake my head.
"Exactly! Sweetheart, I love you, more than Tom and I sure as hell would love you to be his girlfriend, but life isn't always that kind to us, now is it?" she said sitting down in front of me on the booth. "I just... I just thought that since we're this close, he would have some feelings, I didn't ask for him to say that he loves me back, but I wished that he would confess that he has some feelings"
"How long has he been dating Jade?" she asked dipping my fries into some ranch. I smiled, "A year, and I think they're moving in together" I said the smile disappearing quickly. "I'm sorry, sweetheart" she said placing her hand on mine. "Why? It's not your fault" I said and dug into my food.
It was almost 7 PM, I was heading home from Mrs. Perry's as I spend my day there. Eating, serving even making some of the food. It was fun to wear the costume that the other girls were wearing. A short black skirt, with a pink top along with a cute apron. I ordered my usual and headed home, no one had called the whole. I guess they did forget my birthday.
I opened the door and turned on the lights and flinched when everyone yelled, "SURPRISE!" It was everyone. Almost the whole cast, my family, Stef and Nico but Tom wasn't here. Emma pulled me in a tight hug, "Did you ever think I would forget about your birthday?" she said kissing my cheeks. "Pumpkin!" my dad said walking over to me.
"Daddy!" I said hugging him back. "How much I've missed my little girl! I'm sorry I didn't call or text, Emma made us all act like we forgot your birthday" he said pulling away. "No worries, you all are here, that's what matters!" I said and went around the party to greet everyone. I went back to Emma and asked, "Where's Tom?" She pursed her lips into a thin line before shooting me an apologetic smile.
He didn't even leave me a text, is this how this is going to be? I sighed as the doorbell rang. It was Mr. and Mrs. Perry with the pizzas, "You guys knew?" I asked taking a few of the boxes from their hands. "Yeah, Emma invited us, she's a doll" Mr. Perry said as we headed to the kitchen.
I talked around the party for a while, we cut the cake, and I sat down with a drink in my hand. "Did he tell why he couldn't come?" I asked Dan but he shook his head. "Is this how it's going to be, Dan? Us being best friends but not having the time to attend each other's birthday party? Acting like best friends but actually we've drifted apart?"
I sighed and rested my head on his shoulder, "Wow, replaced me so soon?" a familiar voice said. "Tom? What are you doing here?" I asked making him furrow his eyebrows. He looked around my loft. "This is your birthday party, isn't it?" he asked rhetorically. He pulled me in a tight hug and picked me up. "You really think I would miss my number 1 girl's birthday?" he whispered softly in my ear making me tear up.
"Hey, hey, hey, what's wrong?" he asked lifting my chin up. "I really thought you weren't coming, the cake's already been cut, food's almost over, a few people have already left, so..."
"I would still come even if there was only one person left in the party" he said pecking me cheek. I saw a white bandage around his right ankle. "What happened?" I asked pointing at his ankle. "Just your present" he said taking my hand. "My present is your ankle? Okay then, don't forget to give me the receipt so I can exchange your gift" I said as we stood near the stairs.
"Why were you late again?" I asked making him shake his head, "Just a stupid fight with Jade. Before you worry, nothing serious"
Who said I was worrying?
"Can we go upstairs? I wanna show you something" he said taking my hand and pulling me upstairs to my room. We sat down on my bed and he smiled warmly, "Happy Birthday, Shorty" he said pecking my cheek again. He quickly opened his bandage and I looked at a tattoo.
"Remember?" he asked and I jumped into his arms making him lay on the bed. "Tom, this is wonderful!" I said still not pulling away. It was a memory of me and Tom in Hawaii, sitting underneath a palm tree, just enjoying our time and we went live and danced to the song - 'Blue Hawaii'. The tattoo had our initials on it as well.
I pulled away and pecked his cheek, "Thank you, Tom. This is like the best gift ever" I said and he stopped to stare into my eyes. I gulped as his hand reached to my face to move some of my hair out of my face. A flush of heat spread across my cheeks and neck, when his hands touched my face. It was like he wanted to kiss me, but our little moment was broken, "Y/N!!" everyone yelled and we headed downstairs as the party continued. I saw Tom pull his phone out, he fiddled with it for a few minutes and looked at me - 'Check your Instagram' he mouthed.

So many questions ran my mind from that moment we shared, I could see it was bothering him as well. I stole a chance to take a look at him, but he was already staring at me. He tilted the glass he was holding of scotch like he was toasting, I smiled warmly doing the same with my glass.
You probably thought reading the last chapter's title that either Jade and Tom or you and Tom got engaged! Hehe! I pulled an April Fools Prank in May!!!! I'm going to go sleep now!!! BYE!!!!!!
