Marinette's POV:
This is too much.
I finally get to the bakery and finish up what I had to get done before going up to my room.
I take off Adrien's clothes and put on my own shorts and a hoodie then get into bed and cry myself to sleep.
I don't know how long I was out for but I wake up to tapping coming from the balcony.
Please not now.
Chat peaks his head into my room.
I lay my face down into my pillow.
"Go away, Chat Noir."
"Woah, my whole name? Am I in trouble or something?"
I can feel his voice getting closer then I feel him sitting at the foot of my bed.
"I'm serious."
"But why princess? I missed you. What's wrong?"
I turn to him and he tries to hold me but I push him away.
"You need to leave."
"Marinette I-"
"And you need to stop coming here. I can't keep doing this."
"Wha-"
"Just go Chat Noir! Please just go!"
I'm sobbing. Literally sobbing.
"What do you mean I have to stop coming here? How would I see you?"
"That's the thing Chat! You won't see me! You won't come here anymore! I'm not your princess! Just fucking get out!"
I can hardly breathe.
He looks at me and I can see the heartbreak in his eyes.
I just stare at him as tears blur my vision.
I rub my eyes and when I look up again....
He's gone.
I pick up my phone and do my best to send a text message without any spelling mistakes.
"I can't keep doing this, I think we're better off as friends."
I hit send and immediately, Adrien reads it.
He started typing but I turned off my phone before he pressed send.
"Marinette, don't you think this is a bad idea?"
"Not now, Tikki."
She lays on the pillow next to me and watched tears trickle down my cheek as I fall asleep once again.
Adrien's POV:
What the fuck happened?
Better off as friends?? Is that a joke??
She just broke up with me twice.
I get home and de-transform then flop on my bed and start to cry. Plagg doesn't ask for cheese but I know he's hungry so I give him a peice of camembert, which he swallows whole then sits on my back as I fall asleep, trying not to sob.
In the morning, Marinette still hasn't responded to my text.
"I need to tell you something."
She hasn't even read it.
It's sunday so I don't even have the excuse to see her at school.
I mope around all day and finally Monday comes.
"Hey Alya, hey Nino. Is Marinette here yet?"
"Nah dude, I don't think so."
"She hasn't been answering my texts either, weird. Shouldn't you know where your girlfriend is, loverboy?"
"She's not my- No I mean, I just don't know where she is."
She doesn't show up for school on Monday.
Or Tuesday.
Or Wednesday.
I just have to make sure she's okay. What if something actually happened to her?
After school on Wednesday, I transform into Chat and go to her balcony.
I stand there for a few minutes, debating if I should just leave.
I decide to go in.
There's no one here. Not in her room, the bathroom, the kitchen, the whole house is empty.
What the fuck happened to the love of my life?
I use my staff to travel as fast as I can over Paris when I catch a glimpse of something blue in front of a gate. Wait. That's my gate.
I hide and de-transform before acting like I was just getting home from school and had no idea she was there.
"Marinette? What are you doing here?"
"Can we talk?"
I stare at her with big eyes and nod then unlock the gate.
We walk up to my room in silence then sit down on my bed.
"Adrien I-"
"Can I say something first?"
I cut her off, but I just need her to know.
"No, I have to tell you now, I won't be able to say-"
She rearranges her thoughts.
"I love you, Adrien. But I love Chat Noir too. I don't want to lose either of you, but I ended up doing just that."
I think she's done talking.
"I-"
She wasn't.
"But it's not fair to you both! You both deserve a girl so much better than me!"
She stood up and she's raising her voice like it's my fault she fell in love with both sides of me....okay well I guess it kinda is.
"I know you hate me! I'm sorry I fucked everything up! I fucking hate myself for it!"
She's getting so upset and I can't take it anymore.
"MARINETTE STOP! IM CHAT NOIR!"
"I can't believe I ruined everything- wait what? What did you just say?"
"I am Chat Noir."
"Adrien this isn't fucking funny. What is wrong with-"
"Claws out."
Green lights flash over my body as I transform.
She's just standing there.
Why won't she say anything?
Is she mad?
Oh my God, she hates me.
Fuck. Fuck. What do I do? Fuck.
Marinette's POV:
What in the actual fuck?
It takes my brain way too long to understand what just happened. Like way too long.
I'm just staring at him.
"Marinette?"
I don't respond.
"Marinette, say something."
I don't respond.
"Marinette, I'm sorry I didn't tell you before- I wanted to, I wanted to so bad. I just- fucking hell Marinette just say something! Anything!"
I stare out into space and stumble back, falling onto his bed and sitting at the end.
"You're- You're-"
I can't believe this.
I run up to him as fast as I can and kiss him like I neve have before.
"You're. Chat. Noir. You're. Adrien."
I say only one word at a time, placing a kiss on his lips or cheek or forehead in between.
I jump on him and wrap my legs around his waist.
"I love you. I love you. I love you."
I kiss him harder then ever.
Not giving him enough time to say it back.
I let my legs down and stand.
"Wait, wait okay. De-transform!"
He de-transforms and I jump on him again, smiling like a mf.
I start crying but keep kissing him.
"Princess, why are you crying?"
I hug him so tight.
"I just can't believe this."
He hugs me and we stay like that for a while until I pull away.
"Okay okay, now transform again!"
"Princess..."
"Pleaseeeee."
"Claws out!"
I jump on him for a third time.
"I love you so much."
"I love you, princess."
"Okay okay, now be Adrien again!"
He kisses me.
"Okay but then I'm staying as Adrien because my kwami is gonna kill me."
"Fine."
I kiss him one more time before he becomes his civilian self.
I just look at him.
How was I so blind?
How could I not tell they were the same person?
I had a hunch but I never thought I would be right."
"I love you."
"I love you too, princess....That is if you still are my princess."
Oh shit.
"Yes! Yes I am!"
"I don't know- you were gone for four days, a lot can happen."
"Shut up."
I kiss him.
"Say it."
"Say what?"
"Say that I'm your princess."
"Mmmm.."
I fake punch him in the shoulder before he picks me up and spins me around then kisses me.
"You're my princess."
