grown,
but begging to be
sophisticated.
growing up
as others became
out-dated,
overrated,
misappropriated.
growing up
in fear of being
exaggerated,
hated,
and overcompensated.
growing up
i didn't know
the severity
to be adored,
you had to be
considered a rarity.
and to wallow in
self doubt
(for some)
is in scarcity,
but to me,
determines stability.
but how do you
find stability
when you're often
used and treated
as a liability?
being grown,
all i want is to feel.
to not live in a world
that's so unreal,
where men look
at us as gods
and not meals.
should our own
satisfactory be
treated as a deal?
while some women
know their worth
and men beckon
at their heels,
some women don't.
and those same women
would sell their souls
(the way men want them
to sell their bodies)
just to
feel...
appreciated.
sophisticated.
appropriated.
loved in a world
where there is
nothing
but hatred.
