josiah: im going!
we walked into the school dorms and got settled in. our dorms were obviously not in the same wing but it was fine. we met at the dining area, where quinn was already eating
josiah: your fatass couldn't wait huh
quinn: I just eat well
I grabbed some chicken from her salad and ate it
josiah: I got a room next to peter, i swear that kid is so annoying
quinn: bruh I got a room next to the ice queen
josiah: lisette? no way
quinn: I waved at her and she snarled at me, then slammed the door. she only had a box of things, it was mostly just clothes and like a doll, I think
josiah: so she has a soft side
quinn: maybe it's a voodoo doll
she did those creepy fingers at me, I laughed and smacked her hands away from me.
lisette: you were so against people talking about me but here you are, doing the same, fucking hypocrite
she grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and walked away
lisette: let me take take a bow though, you know, so you can put up your nice guy act, and kiss my damn ass
she turned the corner and quinn and I were speechless
quinn: take a bow so we can pull that stick out of your ass instead
josiah: ...
quinn continued eating and I grabbed a juice box.
josiah: bestie what are we doing wrong
quinn: ugh..
she looked down at her salad
quinn: we're not doing anything wrong, she just doesn't like us
josiah: but WHY
she rolled her eyes
quinn: I don't KNOW, JOSIAH
josiah: hm.. do you think-
she sighed loudly
quinn: im gonna go eat this in my dorm now, goodbye
she got her salad and walked off
josiah: um.. okay
I went back to my dorm and did some homework, to be honest I thought life in the dorms would be more exciting.. if anything, home is more exciting than this. jeez, I miss my parents and their weird habits already. I spent the whole day in my room, trying to find things to do. eventually I gave up and walked over to quinn's dorm. before I could turn the corner I saw lisette with a hoodie on, looking around and then quickly ran off. we weren't supposed to leave the dorms after sundown, so she made sure to be quiet when leaving. where was she going? she shouldn't be going out by herself at this hour, maybe I should- no, josiah, just leave her be.. it's not your problem. I knocked on quinn door
quinn: no ones here!
she said, monotone
josiah: I guess i'll take these fudge brownies with me then! oh well!
I stood at the door and I heard her tiny footsteps bolting towards the door, then it swung open
quinn: gimmie-
I smirked and her smile disappeared
quinn: I literally hate you
josiah: hang out with me!
quinn: im tired
josiah: okay, let's take a nap together!
quinn: ew no, gross
I sighed
quinn: night!
she closed the door
josiah: ..night
I walked away. quinn and I have grown up with this.. expectation of being best friends, due to obvious family history. if i'm honest.. i've never really felt that "best friend" vibe between quinn and I. she comes over cause we both don't have shit to do, but we just sit in my room or in her's and barley even talk. its sorta feels more of a forced friendship because of our family situation. it makes me a little sad, though, I don't think quinn cares. don't get me wrong, we do have our moments where we act like besties. i try to get closer to her, i always try to get that connection.. but it feels like she doesn't want it half of the time. I just.. i feel.. alone.
I went back to my room and listened to some music and tried to sleep. I was probably in bed for like a good hour, tossing and turning, trying to force myself to sleep but couldn't. I got up to go get a glass of water and heard footsteps. it was lisette, she walked past me without saying a word and locked her dorm room.

josiah: hey
we were walking to class, she was on her phone as usual.
josiah: oh! that new action movie is coming out next weekend! wanna go?
quinn: BAHAHA
she laughed at something at her phone, then looked up at me
quinn: sorry, what?
josiah: ah.. um.. nothing
I forcefully chuckled and she looked back down at her phone
quinn: daisy! yo, look at this shit!
she ran over to her and I walked into class. lisette had a bandage on her cheek, and a bruised eye that seemed to have been tried to covered up with makeup.. but failed. she seemed off — more then usual, anyway
josiah: you good?
she looked at me, slightly opened her mouth. here it comes "shut up" I don't-
lisette: i'm fine
huh?
josiah: ah.. It's just, your ey-
lisette: I said im fine.
she turned her head towards my desk, but didn't look at me. why is it so hard to get a conversation out of people. sneaky outings? could she.. really be in a gang like they say?

my fathers words played in my head. I shook the thought away and just paid attention to class. quinn kept sending me memes during class, which made me laugh and made lisette mad
lisette: can you stop laughing
josiah: im not bothering you
lisette: actually you are, you're being annoying
josiah: what do you not find annoying though, seriously, you're a buzzkill
she furrow her brows at me and then the bell ring, and she left without saying a word. quinn walked over to me
quinn: what'd you say this time
josiah: I told her she was a buzzkill
quinn: and you're still alive?
josiah: it's just annoying, she's so bothered by anything I do
quinn: literally tho
I packed my things and we went to go get lunch
quinn: oh and uh.. when are you buying the tickets for the movie
josiah: hm?
I looked down at her, confused
quinn: for the new movie that comes out next week!
she lightly pushed me
josiah: oh! I thought you didn't hear me when I asked earlier
quinn: w-well I did! so.. buy them!
she ran into the bathroom and I stood outside
quinn's pov:
josiah and I have grown up with this expectation of being best friends.. but I.. I like him more than that. I just don't know how to show him that.
josiah: hang out with me!
quinn: im tired

josiah: okay, let's take a nap together

quinn: ew no, gross

quinn: night!
I slammed the door in his face and ran to bed, my heart was racing.
josiah: night..
I heard from outside the door. I make him feel like I don't like him.. I know that.. I just can't tell him I like him as more of a friend.. i don't want things to get ruined..
the next morning we were walking to class, I was on my phone trying to fight the urge to grab his hand.
josiah: oh! that new action movie is coming out next weekend! wanna go?
quinn: BAHAHA
I dodged the question with my nervous laughter. of course I wanna go with you..
quinn: sorry, what?
josiah: ah.. um.. nothing
he forced a chuckle out, you made him feel bad, quinn! what is wrong with me.. oh now it's awkward.. quick.. uhh
quinn: daisy! yo, look at this shit!
I ran over to her and he walked into class
daisy: a black screen?
quinn: bitch he asked me to go see a movie and I ignored him!
daisy: bruh are you serious
I sighed
daisy: do you know how many girls would kill to get to be as close as you two are, let alone go to the movies with him?!
quinn: I know! I know! ugh.. what do I do!
daisy: just say yes!
quinn: no but he thinks I didn't hear him, and when I asked what he had said he was all "ah..um.. never mind"
daisy: you made the poor guy feel bad
quinn: shut up! I know!
daisy: well, figure it out
she walked into class and I put my forehead up against the wall. I walked into class and saw josiah actually being able to get a sentence out to lisette, and she surprisingly said something, calm. I sat down and class began. I don't know how I was going to bring up the movies.. I should lighten the mood first.. I sent him a bunch of memes, he laughed and I got to see that perfect smile of his again. I saw him and lisette arguing and then she walked off as soon as the bell rung. we walked out of the classroom and I was just thinking of ways to bring up the movie situation. I gave up on that and just blurted it out
quinn: oh and uh.. when are you buying the tickets for the movie?
josiah: hm?
he looked down at me, confused. this is so embarrassing..
quinn: for the new movie that comes out next week!
I pushed him, just enough for him to jerk to the side a bit
josiah: oh! I thought you didn't hear me when I asked earlier

quinn: w-well I did! so.. buy them!
I felt my cheeks starting to get red and I ran into the bathroom.
update: I didn't throw my cousins out of the window, but I made them cry and leave the room!
