Marinette and Adrien stopped dead in their tracks. Both of them were confused on why the other was there, and weren't able to let a word out of their mouths.
Finally, Marinette got the courage to say something. "Adrien?"
"Marinette?" He didn't know what else to say. He thought only Ladybug was supposed to be there with him.
"What are you doing here?!" They both said at the same time. They just stood there, studying each other to see if anything had changed. Nope, it was just them-- and these six random kids who had led them here.
The boy who Adrien assumed was Hugo ran up to the girl that introduced herself as Emma. "Did you guys win the race?"
"Nope, we were about to but we saw... her." She explained. Marinette and Adrien expected them interfering with their 'race' was bad news, but the young girl seemed to be smiling.
"Us too!" A boy with several pins clipped to his shirt. "Hey doesn't that look like your-" But he couldn't continue because the rest of the children shushed him.
Emma dragged Marinette and Adrien to the door of a house. "This is my house!" She told them excitedly. She sure was a bright kid.
Then two of the other kids went up to them. They stood next to Emma and the older-looking one said "Emma, we all live here."
Adrien, who hadn't been paying much attention until that moment, nearly choked. "A- all of you?!" He looked around at the six children. They just gave him a weird look.
Louis, who nobody had heard him say a word during that entire time, finally spoke. "Of course not! Only me, and Emma, and Hugo live here."
There was a pause.
"How old are you guys?" The boy with the red hat asked, completely changing the topic.
"16." Said Adrien.
"15." Said Marinette.
The kid who Marinette supposed was named Hugo let out a laugh that he seemed to be holding in for a long time. He opened his mouth to say something but Emma covered his mouth.
She glared at him. "DON'T YOU DARE HUGO!"
Hugo, removed her hand and added to what the small boy, Louis, had said. "You two also live here." He pointed at Marinette and Adrien.
They both jumped out of shock and confusion and looked at each other, then back at Hugo.
"HUGO!" All of the children, except for Alianna, yelled. Instead she started to let out a giggle.
Marinette giggled a bit with her. "Sorry but I don't live here. I live above the bakery that Emma walked out of just minutes ago when we first met." She corrected.
"Y-yeah and I live in another house in another place in Paris!" Adrien said, defending himself even though he wasn't even sure why he was in the first place.
All of the children looked at each other, then back at the two and Laughed.
Emma looked like she was going to say something but then the door to the house opened. A woman, that looked like Marinette for some weird reason came out. She had dark hair put in a loose braid, blue eyes, and a few freckles.
Without acknowledging the two teens, she greeted each of the kids.
Turned out their names were Hugo, Emma, Louis, Alianna, Alexander, and Lucas.
Then the woman looked at Marinette and Adrien. For a second she looked like she could've had a heart attack at that moment. Afterwards, she smiled and chuckled to herself. "How did you find us?" She asked Marinette.
"Well..." Marinette began. "I- I met these two girls and they just led me here." She pointed to Emma and Alianna.
"Me too!" Said Adrien, even though he was referring to the group of boys instead of the girls.
"Louis, come here!" The small blue eyed boy went and hugged her. 'She must be his mother' Thought Adrien.
She smiled at the two, and then turned to go inside the house and yelled a name that sounded weird considering Marinette and Adrien were standing right there. "Adrien! Come down here!"
Then it was Emma's turn to call for whoever Adrien was inside the house. "We have visitors Dad !"
Those words only made the overwhelmed Marinette and Adrien even more confused. Adrien looked at Marinette, but she shrugged and turned her attention to the door.
A man came out, carrying some papers. He wore rimless glasses and had blonde fluffy hair, definitely looked very similar to Adrien. The man and the woman both looked to be in their late 30s or early 40s. He looked at Emma with a friendly smile and asked. "Who won the race?"
All of the kids looked at each other and shrugged. "Nobody did." Said the boy with the red hat. That one must have been either Alexander or Lucas, but neither Marinette or Adrien were sure.
The woman laughed and kissed Emma's head. 'Must be her mother' Thought Marinette.
"Look, kitty." She motioned him to the two teens standing next to each other at the entrance. The man looked at Marinette and Adrien, who now were extremely confused .
Exactly like the woman had done before, he looked extremely surprised to see them. Then he laughed and hugged Adrien who turned to look at Marinette with the most concerned expression she had ever seen. Then he went and also hugged Marinette, who looked at Adrien with the same expression he had put on his face before.
The woman frowned a bit. "What's wrong you two?"
Hugo turned to the two adults and reminded them. "Mom, Dad, they don't even know who you are. Of course they're confused."
The man, who was now standing next to the woman again, facepalmed. "Oh that's right! Sorry Marinette and Adrien. I've been grading papers all afternoon and my mind is still processing equations."
Everyone laughed, except for Marinette and Adrien.
"How does he know our names?" Adrien whispered to Marinette.
She looked at him like she was about to say something but the woman cut her off.
"I don't know how to explain this to you two." The woman sighed. "Hugo, could you and your friends go to your grandparents' bakery and bring some macaroons?"
Hugo and Emma nodded to their mother and then smirked and Marinette and Adrien as if they were saying 'you two got it bad.' Emma grabbed Louis's hand and with that all of the kids were gone and it was only them four.
The man looked at the woman, and then turned to Marinette and Adrien. "How old are you?"
"We're 15 & 16." Marinette said. This, for some reason, made Adrien blush.
"Oh!" The woman said with a smile. "Timerunner?"
"How did you..." But Adrien was too confused to even finish his sentence.
What happened next left the two teens basically speechless. The woman put her hands on Marinette's shoulders and whispered into her ear.
"Spots on."
Then suddenly, somehow, Ladybug was standing in front of her. Only she looked-- older? Her costume was now different, it had some black at the sides just like Misterbug's costume had.
Marinette looked at Adrien. But Adrien was already looking at her.
After that, the man posed and smiled at Adrien. "What are you-" But Adrien didn't have time to finish because he was interrupted.
"Claws out!"
Then Adrien looked at Marinette. But Marinette was already looking at him. They were both shocked, overwhelmed, and, well, confused.
Marinette closed her eyes and rubbed them. Then she reopened them. Ladybug and Chat Noir were standing in front of them. But how was this possible? Chat Noir's suit also looked somewhat different. Now both of them were in deep confusion and shock.
Without thinking, Marinette blurted out "How could you be Ladybug? The real Ladybug's suit doesn't look like that and her hair is much shorter. Besides, Tikki is right here in my purse and if I'm Ladybug then-" She cut off and covered her mouth. She slowly turned her head from Ladybug, to Chat Noir, to Adrien.
Adrien looked at her, eyes wide in shock. "I-"
Then the man interrupted him. "Right so I'm going to need you two to look at me and pay attention." They both nodded so he continued. "Marinette, you're Ladybug. Adrien, you're Chat Noir. Don't try to deny it, we know."
With that they were both left speechless. Now it explained why they were both there!
