BACKGROUND
IJN Okita is the unique ship of the Okita heavy cruiser class, she was created by Japan the 4th of December 1932 and finished the 8 November 1936. She was first Ordered FY 1926 only to be laid down the 4th of December 1932 and was finally finished the 8th of November 1936. Due to her categorization and class as well as model she can be considered the Takao class of heavy cruiser older sister since she was also assigned to the Yokosuka Naval District even though she was built after the Takao.
When she was sent on her first coop mission, she was to regroup with an other Japanese ship before making their way towards two allied German ship. When the IJN Okita met the IJN Tomoe Gozen they both set sail to join their new fleet members, the light cruiser KMS Hedelgard and the super-battleship KMS Erika der Rotekönigin.
On March 1941, after serving as a shield for the IJN Tomoe Gozen against the strike team sent after them, the IJN Okita was sunk by a salvo of both main canon, planes and torpedoes from HMS Belfast, HMS Amazon and HMS Victorious resulting in the destruction of the ship, yet the heavy cruiser protected its allies until it was engulfed in its exploding munitions.
