It was the next day, I had cancelled all my meetings for the afternoon to go meet up with Anastasia. The boys and Luella were still asleep since we had gotten home pretty late and Ella was knackered.
Anastasia had moved to Spain when she was only a couple of weeks pregnant meaning I never got to see my son or daughter. Yes, I had lost all sorts of contact when she had moved and didn't bother trying to find her knowing she never contacted for the best.
I entered the cafe and saw Ana sitting on a table clearly talking to someone on the phone, I walked up to her and she immediately hung up.
"Hey" I greeted her
"Hi," she said smiling
I sat down "What drink do you want?" I asked her
"Just a peach tea please" I nodded and went to order our drinks. Once the drinks were done I went back to the table and placed her drink in front of her as she muttered a thank you
"It has been a while" I spoke up
"Yeah," she said looking up
"So? you're not going to tell me anything that happened when you went away?"
"I-, look yes it has been a while, I had to lose all contact with you Adriel for the best for me and my son-"
"Son?"
I had a son.
"I gave birth to a healthy baby boy," she said smiling "Like I was saying it was for the best, I knew I wouldn't have been able to come to London till I finished university in Spain, it was so hard for me, looking after a kid who half the time was taken care of by my mum and me studying to finish my courses. I only came back because once I had finished university I thought why not come back and maybe you could get a chance to see him. I didn't want to tell him about you knowing there was no chance of coming here and him not being able to see you"
"What's his name?"
"Elijah wren carter"
I smiled
"Trust me Adriel I wanted to bring him here earlier but it wasn't possible, I'm sorry"
I placed my hand on top of hers "Hey listen, I get it okay. It's hard, trust me I'm not mad at you for any of this, I get it was for the best and I agree with that"
She looked at me and smiled. god, that smile I missed it
"Is he here? in London?"
She nodded "He's with my mum right now, do you wanna come over and you know see him?" she asked as she got up
"Sure," I said getting up "I'm guessing you don't have your car"
She turned around and looked at me "I don't"
"Come on let's go," I said leading her to my car
We both got in the car and sat in silence since the journey was only about 7 minutes. I admired her most of the time, her hair was still the same just longer, she was much more tan which makes sense since that's Spain we are talking about. We both got out of the car and came to a small house
"It's here," she said looking up at me, she knocked on the door and the next thing you can hear is someone running around in the house. the door opened to Anastasia's mum and a small boy in her arms
my son.
"Hey, baby!" Ana said grabbing the baby boy out of her mother's arms and kissing him across the face
"Ma!" Elijah squealed
"How was he?" Ana asked her mum
"The same sensible boy as always," she said smiling
"Adriel?" her mother questioned
"Mrs Carter," I said nodding at her
"Oh my bad come in," she said allowing us in
The house wasn't too big, it was perfect for the three of them. Ana's father had passed away when she was just 8 due to a car accident that had happened; he was drunk, ever since it's just been Ana and her mum and well now Elijah too.
"Please sit down Adriel, it has been a while," Mrs Carter said
I sat down on the couch with Ana sitting down next to me with Elijah on her lap playing with her fingers mumbling words to himself
"Yes it's been quite some time," I said
"Elijah baby, this is Adriel," Ana said from beside me
He looked at me with his brown eyes smiling.
"Hey Elijah," I said gently picking him up from Anastasias lap
"Hi," he said showing his small 4 front teeth
I chuckled and started tickling him
"Ah Ma!" he shouted in between laughs
"How old are you?" I asked the little boy who was currently catching his breath
He held up 2 fingers and smiled
"Two?"
He nodded cheekily
"You're a big boy aren't you" I teased
He nodded again as I looked at Ana who was smiling hard
"Ma?" Elijah spoke up
"Yes, baby?"
"Nugs?" Elijah said tilting his head to the side slightly
"Baby did you not have nuggets yesterday?"
He frowned and looked at me with his puppy dog eyes, fuck those always get me Ella did that to me too
"You want nuggets?" I asked him
He nodded again "Come on let's make some," I said getting up still holding him in my arms Adriel headed
Adriel headed into the kitchen with Elijah in his arms, I looked at mum who was smiling
"He's good with kids," she said
I nodded at her "well of course he's got two younger brothers who he watched grow up" I said
"Bless him, mum and dad left him. Left to fend for his brothers"
"Mum he's strong don't worry, he always has been" I assured her
"When are you planning on telling Elijah about him?"
"I'm not sure, I'm saying maybe let them bond a bit and get used to each other then maybe I could tell him then, he's a smart boy he would understand," I said as I smiled looking into the kitchen where the boys were currently laughing while putting the nuggets into the oven
"I forgot to ask you, how did he react when he saw you yesterday?" mum said
"I wasn't expecting him either mum, he came out of nowhere, and I'm pretty sure we were both shocked deeply, I mean after all those years I came back with his son"
She nodded at me
"Ma!" Elijah shouted from the kitchen
I walked into the kitchen to see Elijah smiling hard "Ma nugs" he said pointing towards the oven
"Nuggets again, aren't you a lucky boy," I said picking him up and tickling him
"Ma stop!" Elijah said laughing
"Okay okay, say thank you to Adriel"
"Than you!" he said not being able to pronounce 'thank' properly, even though he was going to turn three soon he had struggle pronouncing words properly but I was told that it was normal for kids his age
"It's my pleasure Elijah," Adriel said smiling
