Win's eyes fluttered open not long after finally getting Team to sleep. He chuckled to himself as he subconsciously compared himself to a parent finally getting a newborn baby to sleep. He looked out the window with Team still in his arms when he remembered it had been raining earlier tonight. Now the rain was heavier and the wind was picking up. He was starting to worry as it looked as if it was about to storm.
Win turned back to the sleeping boy in his arms. He brought one of his hands to rest on the nape of Team's neck. He really hoped the storm wouldn't wake his boyfriend. But much to his disappointment, thunder struck and rumbled through the sky. He heard a whimper escape Team's mouth as he snuggled up closer to Win burying his face in his chest.
Win tightened his grip around the boy when lightning cracked through the sky causing Team to start shaking under his touch.
"Win.." Team whispered with an unsteady voice, grabbing a fistful of Win's shirt in his hands.
"I'm here baby." Win whispered back, rubbing soothing circles on Team's back. He remembered how this helped calm the scared boy last time.
They lied there in silence for a while before the wind blew something against Team's window sending a loud clacking sound through the room.
Team jumped in place. "I'm scared." he muttered.
Win was starting to really worry, when an image of Team with his small brown bear clicked in his brain. Win recalled seeing it on the kitchen counter earlier today, so he tried to get up to go fetch it but he was stopped. Team had ahold of Win's arms looking up at him with glassy eyes.
"Where are you going?" Team asked sniffling.
"I'll be back, I'm just going to get your bear baby." Win answered bending down and caressing Team's cheek.
Team placed one of his hands on top of Win's. "I don't need it anymore. I have you."
Win crawled back into bed. "Are you sure?" he asked with big eyes filled with concern.
Team hummed and nodded as he got comfortable in Win's embrace again. "I had my teddy ever since the accident with my parents when I was a kid. It helped with the nightmares." Team was cut off by another round of thunder.
He looked up at Win before continuing. "As I got older though, it slowly quit helping. No one I knew could ever help with my episodes during storms, not even Manaow or Pharm. But then that one night with you..You calmed me down almost instantly." Team laughed to himself. "I had wondered if you gave me some sort of drug that would calm my nerves, but in the end it was just you."
Win smiled down and ran his fingers through Team's brown locks. "I'm glad I can help." He said pushing a strand of hair away from Team's forehead and placing a slight kiss there.
Silence fell upon them until the wind direction outside changed to where the rain was now harshly bouncing off the glass. Win felt Team tense in his arms.
"Talk about something baby, it seems to help you distract yourself." Win said lifting his head up to rest his chin atop Team's, getting a whiff of Team's strawberry scented shampoo.
"About what?" Team asked, his warm breath hitting Win's adams apple.
"Anything. It doesn't have to be anything specific, just...talk."
"Hmm...I guess, I could start off by telling you why I'm still scared of storms at my age..." Team said with detectable hesitance in his voice, which Win easily caught up on.
"You don't need to if it makes you uncomfortable Team."
Team's lips pursed into a pucker. "No, I need to tell you, you're my boyfriend and my new teddy. You should know what you're comforting me for."
Win just chuckled to being referred to as his 'new teddy'.
"If you feel that you are ready to tell me then I am all ears baby, but please don't push yourself to tell me."
Team sighed. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be..."
He took in a deep breath, instantly being calmed by the scent of his boyfriend's cologne.
"When I was eleven, my parents and I were on our way back home from one of my swimming tournaments. I was sitting in the backseat of the car with my bear that my dad bought for me." Team giggled "He was trying to comfort me since I lost, and I was so mad at him at the time. I felt like I was already grown and that my dad was treating me like a child." Team shook his head.
"My dad was driving and my mom was holding his hand in the passengers seat. It was really late so naturally it was extremely dark. We were really struggling with money at the time so one of my dad's headlights was blown and we didn't have the money to repair it." Team stopped when he felt Win kiss his head, then he continued.
"My dad was having difficulty seeing the road in front of us. The tournament had taken place in a rural area so there weren't many street lamps around and we were driving on a really windy road with big and sharp turns left and right. I was already scared enough because we were really high up, but then it started raining out of nowhere. My mom knew I didn't like storms so she decided to turn on the music to help me but when she did a loud siren was playing. The lady from the radio station was warning everyone about an incoming storm."
Lightning struck sending a bright light through the room but Team wasn't fazed as he wasn't paying attention anymore and that made Win glad.
"That's when the rain started coming down a lot harder and it started to thunder too. My dad was squinting at the road trying his best to stay on his side. The darkness and the rain were an awful combination against our crappy car. Driving with one headlight in the pitch black was one thing but adding heavy rain fighting against our cheaply made windshield wipers was on a whole other level."
Win just kept listening to his boyfriend's story, kissing his head every now and then to reassure Team that he was there for him and that it was ok to continue speaking, that he was listening.
Team sucked in a deep breath causing his shoulders to rise and fall.
"Then..." Team brought his hand up to his stinging eyes and rubbed them. "A bright rod of lighting struck the road in front of us." Team's voice had gone squeaky so Win tightened his grip on him.
"When my dad swerved to avoid it we were hit head on by an eighteen wheeler." Team sniffled.
"When I woke up, I was lying in a hospital bed with bandages all over my arms and legs from where the glass from the windshield had flown into the back of the car hitting me. My aunt was sitting in a chair asleep in her arms over my bed. I don't remember much more but when my aunt woke up her and the doctor told me...they...they told my that m-my parents were gone. After that my memory was all hazy for the next few months, especially at their funeral. Their burial was the worst. All these people from my family that I had never met were hugging me and apologizing, but I can never remember exactly what they said. Everything is just...too blurry. Everyones words were mumbles and every moment was hard to see."
Win felt his shirt was wet and heard all of Team's whimpers and his squeaky voice. He knew saying 'I'm sorry' would do absolutely nothing so he just lied there shushing Team and patting his head letting him cry.
When Team's wails had come to a stop he sniffed and looked up at Win with glossy, red puffy eyes.
"Sorry I got your shirt wet." He pouted which made Win silently coo at his adorable boyfriend.
"It's ok baby, its just a shirt." Win said placing a hand to Team's cheek.
"You know you're really strong baby. Look how you turned out. A cute, adorable boy that I love way too much. Not to mention you never lose to anyone when swimming anymore...well except to me."
Win heard Team giggle which meant his mission to get him to laugh had been accomplished.
Team lifted his head up a bit and quickly pecked Win's lips letting out a small "Thank you"
"Of course. And thank you for telling me." Win smiled down at his boyfriend again before playfully pinching the tip of Team's nose. Team's face scrunched up in response which Win found extremely cute.
Team's eyes started to wonder around his lover's face then slowly made their way down to his neck. He brought his hand up to where his eyes landed, steadily tracing around the blotches he had made just a few hours ago.
Win huskily chuckled, making his adams apple bob up and down. "Now that the alcohol has worn off you starting to regret it?" He asked teasingly raising an eyebrow.
Team still kept tracing the scarlet circles. "No, I'm actually glad that drunk me had enough courage to do it." he shyly smiled bringing his fingers down to rest in the dip that Win's collarbone had created.
"Where's mine?" Team asked looking into Win's eyes.
Win smirked slightly before unwrapping one of his arms from around Team. He lightly poked a spot on Team's neck. "Here"
Team raised the hand that was resting on Win's collarbone to his neck and ran his index finger over the spot Win had just poked.
His smile grew bigger as he went to run his fingers through Win's hair letting his hand stop and lay on Win's ear.
He tilted his head to the side before saying "I love you" causing Win to smile as well.
"I love you too." He leaned down and kissed Team, but when he went to pull back Team's hand that was on his ear had now entangled in Win's hair pulling him closer.
They kept kissing for a while, both boys tilting their heads in opposite directions whenever they wanted to deepen the kiss. They would've kissed for longer but both had to pull away for air.
They stared at each other for a moment, then Team pecked Win's lips one last time causing Win's smile to grow in size. Team finally let go of the strands of hair he had been holding and brought his hand back to Win's ear.
Unconsciously Team had started playing with Win's earrings, sending small little jingling sounds through the room, bouncing off the walls.
Win looked at Team who had amusement in his eyes causing him to silently chuckle. "Want to help me take them out?"
Team's eyes lit up. "Can I?! Wait..what if I hurt you?" he said pouting.
Win just smiled with his eyes. "You won't hurt me baby." He sat up bringing Team with him.
Now both boys sat, legs crossed in front of each other. Team scooted closer running his fingers along Win's ear sending chills down Win's spine.
"H-How?" Team said not really sure what to do.
Win smiled with just his top teeth, shaking his head a little.
"The bottom three just take the backings off of them. And the rod just unscrew the ends of it and pull it out upwards. Then repeat the process on the other ear." Win explained.
Team nodded slowly, biting his bottom lip before getting up on his knees and doing what Win had explained.
Win just sat there with his hand's on Team's waist, letting his boyfriend focus. When Team finished the first ear he held out his hand and dropped the earring in Win's hands. Then he shifted to the other side and did the same there.
Team sat back down and Win took his earrings in hand and placed them on the nightstand.
"See you did good." Win said smiling at his boyfriend.
Team smiled back. "Do you take them out every night?" he asked.
Win meekly scratched the back of his neck. "No..Sometimes I forget and sometimes I'm just too lazy and too tired to so I mainly sleep with them in."
Team just hummed and nodded.
Then it thundered again causing the room to shake and Team to tense up.
Team lied back down placing his head on his pillow and tapping the space beside him.
"Come sleep with me teddy. It's late."
{hehe...don't be mad...I swear that the sad stuff this time was a necessity...hehe..anyways SAY THE NAME!..ahem..it took every bone in my body not to type that at the beginning,, if ykyk.
