Dakota's POV
I am looking at Tala and Nova like what the fuck just happen here. What does she even mean something bad is coming, there were no clues to it but just leaving a haunting present.
"What do you think she means that something bad is coming," I ask looking at Nova and Tala.
"Well this is not the first time that we heard something bad is going to happen," Tala said.
"Why didn't I know about this?" I question looking at Tala.
"It was sprung on us too and we found out yesterday," Tala says, taking a deep breath.
"Look Dakota, you know as much as we do. We just need to keep our guard up, okay" Nova said in a calm voice, but her face said something else. She had a worried face on her look that I don't see often. I only really see it when she is about to go home and she knows that she is going to get beat by her dad. I just nod at her so she and Tala can sneak off together and get some alone time.
I look up to see if Awan stayed after the game. I saw him when he came into the gym and didn't see him leave. I looked around for him but didn't find him. I am not going to lie, I am heartbroken that he came to the game and didn't even say bye. I was able to talk to my teammates, coaches, and parents before I started to head off to my parent's car alone. I started walking outside into the parking lot, I saw that a guy was standing out in the parking lot. Then I realized that it was Awan with a bouquet of flowers and a bag. I ran up to him and hugged him.
"Hey sweetheart, I am sorry I didn't stay around right after the game. I didn't know if it was okay for us to be all out in the open like that just yet. I did see you play the whole game though, you did awesome" Awan says getting all excited about the game.
"Thank you so much, it means a lot to me. So what is in the bag?" I say looking at the bag.
"Oh yeah," he hands me the bag and I open it up to see a duck in basketball gear, "so remember yesterday when I asked what your favorite animal and you said duck. Well, I went to build-a-bear and they didn't have any ducks for some reason. I grabbed the clothes and went out to find a stuffed duck, which is hard to find by the way" Awan said, rambling on and I just gave him a big hug and kiss.
"You are amazing and this is the best gift ever! I love ducks" I say holding the duck.
"I wanted to get a duck for my ducky," Awan says using the nickname that he gave me yesterday. I already know that Nova is going to tease me about it because I tease her about her nickname, kitten.
"Do you want me to give you a ride or do you want to ride home with your parents?" Awan asks and I of course say that I will get a ride from him. I text my parents that I have a ride home and don't wait up. I get into the car with him and we head off. I then start to think about Awan and I relationship, as we have just figured out that we were mates just a day ago. All wolves know that finding your mate is the best thing in the world to happen, and you'll live happily ever after with them. The problem is that no one tells you how to navigate through it. I know we are supposed to mate pretty soon, but how fast is too fast and how slow is too slow.
"Hey what are you thinking about in that head of yours," Awan says getting me out of my thoughts.
"Why would you think that I am thinking of something?" I ask, wondering how he knows.
"You are in deep thought and since you are not saying it out loud then it is about me I am guessing," he says right on the nose about it.
"You aren't wrong about that. I am thinking about this whole mate situation" I tell him how I am feeling.
"So are you doubting about being with me?" Awan asked in a sad tone.
"What?! Of course not. I am just talking about how I don't know how to be a mate to you. We just meet and I don't know whether to go fast or slow" I say and Awan holds my hand.
"I understand what you are going through because I am going through the same thing ducky. I want to be with you so bad, but I don't know how to be with you. There is no reason to worry though because I am already crazy about you. We just really met each other the other day and found out we are mates. It is a lot to take in at once, but the moon goddess put us together for a reason." Awan says and it makes me feel better that I am not alone in this. It made me calm and knew that everything was going to be okay. I look up and out the window and see that we are at my house already. Awan gets out of the car and grabs all of my stuff.
"You know that you didn't need to do that. I have arms, let me carry them" I say to him and hold out my arms.
"Nope you aren't going to get them," he says.
"Come on, give them," I tell him.
"If you want them then you have to catch me," Awan says then starts to run towards my door and I chase after him. Then it somehow turned into a game of tag around my house. We went back and forward with each other a few times. I was having the time of my life and it was my turn being it. We turn the corner to the front of my house and right when I am about tag him, he trips and falls bring me down with him. I land on top of him and he is holding me tight. We are looking into the eyes of each other and share a sweet kiss. Then you hear the front door open.
"Hey sweetheart, come inside. We want to meet your boyfriend" my mom says and I am completely embarrassed. I was also nervous because I didn't know how my parents will react when they found out that my mate is a part of the enemy pack. My parents are really cool and chill about almost anything. Yes, she may be our gamma of the pack, but she wasn't supposed to be. My mom had an older sister that was a year older than her, and she was the original gamma. My mom never goes into details about my aunt. There are no pictures of her, no stories about her, no name. The only thing I know about her is that she is dead. So when she was growing up, she wasn't worried about being the perfect gamma but just having fun. Things changed fast and she was able to be a strong and responsible gamma. She just has her silly sides all the time. My dad is cool too, he is just as laid back as my mom and they are perfect for each other. We walk into the house to see my parents sitting in the living room.
"Hello Awan, I am Bruno and that is my wife Edith, but you can just call us ma'am and Sir," my dad says getting up and shaking Awan's hand.
"Yes sir," Awan says in a rocky voice.
"What's wrong kid? Nervous to meet the mate's parents huh?" my dad asks.
"Yes and I just thought you guys would be more mad that I am from the enemy pack and mated to your daughter," Awan says to my dad. My dad looks back at my mom and they both start to laugh.
"Why would we care about all that. I really don't care that you are from another pack. The only thing I care about is that you are going to treat my little girl right" my dad says.
"Exactly, you couldn't have said it better honey. Plus your generation doesn't even know what happen and why we are really at war. There is a lot more to the stories than what they told you. It sucks that your generation has to deal with a war that we started" my mom says with a longing look on her face at the end. I had no idea what she was talking about and I wanted to know more but dad cuts in.
"Well anyway, we are about to start cooking dinner to celebrate this big win. Do you want to stay with us Awan?" my dad asks and Awan smiles. I guess he is happy that he is being welcomed into the family. He looks over at me and I nod hoping that he would say yes.
"Yes, I would love to," Awan says with a smile on his face. Once he said that my dad started to put him to work. We all helped make dinner and ate it. When we finish, Awan and I cleaned up the dishes, but there was something that I couldn't get out of my head. What the girl said about something bad is coming and I needed to tell my parents.
"Hey mom and dad, I need to tell you something that is really important," I say.
"Omg are you pregnant?" my dad jokes and laughs with my mom. I roll my eyes and we all go into the living room.
"So there was something said to Nova and me after the basketball game," I excluded Tala out because that is something I might tell them later, "this girl says that there is something bad coming our way. Nova said that someone else said to her that something bad is coming too. I just have a gut feeling about it" I explain to my parents and Awan because I haven't told him yet.
"It's going to be okay sweety. I will go in tomorrow and talk to Dohasan about it. He is the alpha, so he must have heard something" my mom says while getting up and grabbing two glasses of wine. She pours the wine into the glasses and hands one of them to my dad.
"Now we are going to go upstairs and head in for the night. Awan, you can stay if you want to. We don't really care that much, but there is just one rule. That rule is no sex in the house. You guys can have sex don't get me wrong there because you guys are mates and it will happen. Just not in the house because I don't want to smell that. Wait, do we need to give you the bird and the bee talk" my mom says.
"Mom no. We don't need the talk. Goodnight" I say and my parents are going upstairs laughing about what just happen.
"So do you want to stay?" I ask Awan.
"Yes, I can stay a little while longer," Awan says and we start to walk up to my room. I am kind of nervous and not because we might have sex. It is the fact that I am a huge nerd and you can see that with my room. I open my door and you can see all the movie posters that I have of star wars, harry potter, marvel, dc, star trek, and others. I have selves of funko pop, comics, action figures, gaming consoles, and gaming pc. This is a nerd's dream and I just hope I didn't freak him out too much. He is just standing at the doorway looking at everything.
"This is the best room ever. I don't want to leave" Awan says with excitement. He goes into my room and starts to look at everything that I have.
"I am just happy that you like this stuff. I was a bit worry" I say and sit on my bed.
"Yeah I love all of this stuff and it just makes me want you more now," he turns and looks where my tv is, "oh my gosh, you have the PS5. Can we play some games?" Awan says smiling. I nod yes and we hop into a game and get lost in the moment. We spent the rest of the night playing video games and watching Marvel movies. I think the mood goddess picked the perfect mate for me because I am so happy right now.
