"We didn't really get divorced." He told me.
Say what now?
"We're not really divorced? That doesn't make any sense.. we both signed the papers that day." I replied back. A small sigh came from him before he backed away, giving me some space.
"Before you even ask, no I did not 'lose' or destroy the papers in some kind of way. I planned on submitting them. I really did.
I was holding onto them for a few days while I was waiting to see if Mason could find anything, something that proved to me you didn't really do it.. but when he couldn't find anything I had given up, finally deciding to submit them.
The day I was about to Mason had barged into my office with a 'lead' but I didn't want to hear anything about it. That's when he took the opportunity to put the papers that were on my desk in the shredder while I was busy talking to a client on the phone.
That's when I then found out about Raquel being involved with the pictures I had got on that day, which is why I've kept her by my side this whole time. I promise you, the two of us have never did anything with one another.. all I want is for you to trust and forgive me.. to give me a chance." He explained.
"Okay.. so Mason shredded up the divorce papers. Why didn't you get in contact with me or my lawyer? That way I could've came back and signed it again, or send a signature virtually I don't know." I asked, purposely avoiding to talk about the other things he just said.
"Maybe because both you and your lawyer left and changed all of your contact information. It's not like I lied about that either, I've been telling you that you're my wife this entire time. And do you actually think I'd find you to sign the divorce papers again after finding out you didn't really cheat?" He responded back, I could tell that my question annoyed him but it's not like I cared.
"I mean if you really wanna go that far, you would've known the truth ahead of time if you had just given me the time to explain instead of kicking me out with no hesitation.. and I know that I was wrong for not telling you about me being pregnant but you probably would've just assumed the child or children to be Winston's." I told him.
After a few moments of silence he then cleared his throat. "After finding this out I then put two and two together, connecting the dots between her and Winston. Weeks ago when I confronted him about my theory he had admitted to it.. that day in my office when he was acting weird,
He was going to tell you but he chickened out. Anyway, this goes back to Henry... he's the one I'm worried about. Unlike Winston and Raquel who I know, him and I never really saw eye to eye, even when we worked together."
I looked up at him. "Did he have something to do with the pictures?"
Xavier shook his head. "No but I've had my men follow him and Raquel, the two heading the same direction at least twice a week. When someone had mentioned his company I asked if she knew him and she denied it.. but I've seen them together."
"I don't know what's his objective or the problem that he has with me which is why you need to stay away from him." He told me seriously.
"That day at the park.. he had told me a story about his wife meeting someone at the club I think, they had a one night stand before the guy left her all alone. She ended her life a little later after she gave birth to Henry's child." I told him.
As I told him the story he looked confused, trying to figure out what it had to do with him. After a moment the look of realization was written on his face.
"It was you wasn't it? You left his wife that night?" I asked him. Everything was starting to make more sense..
Although I should be I wasn't really mad at him. How could I when we never even met one another when this happened?
When we first started dating I already knew he had a tough past, he warned me but I didn't care.
"Yeah, my father and I got into a heated argument that night, when the two of us bumped into each other at that club we were both in a rough state.. I had to leave for a meeting the next morning.. but I had left a note, unless she didn't see it." He spoke out frustratingly.
"I really did care about her back then, I still do. Her name was Arianna.. that's probably why Henry's trying to get close to you. Back then I didn't know he was her husband but she must've told him about me. He's not here to only hurt me but to take you away from me, and keep you all to himself." He spoke out, more to himself as he started understanding things more.
"So that Bella girl.. she's not my child is she?" He asked, I could hear the fear in his voice. I shook my head in response, "No. She's Henry's child."
"So if we know who else was involved then why don't you just confront them, or go to the police?" I asked him.
He turned towards me before replying. "The cops won't even know what to do, they're unreliable. When the time comes I would confront them myself and with a few men but we still don't know who the new member of their group is."
I then looked at him in confusion. "New member?"
"I wouldn't say he's really new.. all of them have their own objective. Winston wanted me away from you, Henry more than likely blames me for his wife's death, seeking revenge and Raquel wants me all to herself but you're in the way." He explained.
"How am I in the way-" I began.
"But what if there's someone who wants you out of the picture?" He suddenly asked, cutting me off.
"Out of the picture? Like dead? But why?" I asked as fear coursed through me.
Instead of answering me he placed both of his hands onto my shoulders, his touch helping me calm down. "Listen to me. I'm not saying they want you dead but you can't be too sure. I will not let anything happen to you or our kids. Do you trust me?" He asked me seriously.
"Not really but I'll listen to what you have to say."

"Mommy!" Cole and Reyna yelled out when they saw both Xavier and I standing in front of the door.
The two of us ended up leaving after we were finished arguing back and forth, he told me that he had dropped them off at his parents place when he had to go to some meeting.
We walked in before he closed the door behind us, his mother rushing over to hug me before my own children could. "How's my daughter been? I haven't seen you in so long!" Christina asked, excitement written all over her face.
I couldn't help but smile back at her, returning the hug. "I've been good, thanks Christina." I replied back, shaking my head as I saw her slightly pouting when I called her by her name.
Both Reyna and Cole came rushing towards me, wrapping their tiny arms around my legs.
"I missed you guys too. Did you guys have fun playing with Delilah?" I asked them while I placed a hand on both of their heads. They both nodded in response with huge smiles on their face.
"Mommy.. we want a baby brother." Cole suddenly spoke out.
"No I said we want a baby sister!" Reyna interrupted.
"How about mommy just has a boy and girl again? Like us?" Cole asked her. Reyna nodded in agreement before they started talking about names, as if I agreed to this foolishness.
I stared down at them in shock before I looked over to Christina who eyed me with happiness. I bet she has something to do with this. When I looked over to Xavier he simply eyed me for a few moments before I saw a glimpse of sadness in his eyes, he then looked away before walking towards the living room with Reyna and Cole soon following behind him.
I was not planning on having any more children.
Nope.
Me having to raise two kids by myself was already the biggest struggle of my life. All the pain, confusion and anger I felt during the first few years. I'm not trying to do that again.
"So... how are things between you and Xavier? Any progress?" Christina suddenly asked me.
I couldn't help the small laugh that escaped from me as I shook my head in response. I swear, this woman will never change. Although she can seem pushy and anxious about everything she means well.
Just like any other mother, she wants what's best for her children.
"I'm pretty sure you and I both know that there's nothing going on between Xavier and I.. not anymore." I said, not missing the sad expression that loomed over her features before she patted my shoulder,
"Hopefully things will change for the better dear." Was all she said before she walked off in another direction.
I continued to stare at the chandelier, lost in thought, admiring it's beauty.
"Look who's back." Maddox spoke out, me no longer being in a daze.
When I looked up at him I rolled my eyes as soon as I saw the Knight's signature smirk written all over his face. Before I could say anything he had pulled me in for a hug which I returned.
After the two of us pulled away I couldn't help but notice the way he was staring at me.
"Come on, I gotta show you something." He said while tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear before motioning me up the stairs.
