Kian looks up at her, an expression all to familiar to Jac.
"I can tell by your face." Jac says, looking at him "We've lost it haven't we?"
"No, we haven't baby is still happy and healthy."
"What?" Jac says, turning the screen to face her.
"Listen to the heartbeat." He smiles, as it plays loudly.
"Our baby is okay?" She says, smiling at him.
"Yeah, baby is okay." They hug, and smile - clearly content.
"Our baby's okay." Jac says, she can't contain her excitement.
"Now we just need to go and see, what caused the bleeding." Kian says, turning off the screen.
Jac rubs the gel off her stomach and sighs "Fine."
Fifteen minutes later...
Jac and Kian are patiently waiting in the doctors office, Kian's holding her hand and smiles supportively at her.
"You okay?" He asks, as the doctor returns.
"I'm fine." Jac replies, as she looks at the doctor "So, what's going on?"
"You seem to have an infection."
"So all of that was caused by an infection?" Jac asks, sighing.
"Yeah, an infection in your cervix." She replies "We'll need to give you antibiotics."
"Will she be okay? Will the baby be okay?" Kian asks.
"Both should be, but if there is any other complications then please don't hesitate and come back."
"Thank you." Jac says, standing up.
Jac walks out of the room, with Kian just behind her.
"Look, I'm taking some time off work." She says, turning to face him "I'm going to spend time with the kids."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I need a break." She sighs "I need time with my, children."
"So that's exactly where I am going."
She walks away, and Kian goes after her.
"I'll drive you home." He says, taking the keys out of his pocket.
"Okay." Jac replies, as she gets into the car and they drive off together.
Jac goes into the house, and sits on the sofa.
She felt different, but didn't know what it was.
"Mummy!" Says a voice, as Harriet runs through the door followed by Emma and the nanny.
"Hey." Jac smiles, as she picks Harriet up and sits her on her lap.
"Are you fweeling better now?" Harriet asks, looking up at Jac.
"Yeah, I am." Jac smiles, as she kisses Harriet's forehead.
"Mummy, can I have some food?" She says, jumping off of Jac's lap.
"Uh, let me go get you something." Jac says, standing up "What do you want?"
"Cakey." Harriet replies, getting excited.
"How about something else?" Jac says, opening the fridge and returning with some salad.
"Yucky!" Harriet says, turning her nose up at it "Cakey."
"Look, I don't think cake all day everyday is the greatest idea." Jac says, as she puts the salad down.
"Mummm." Emma says, walking back into the kitchen.
"Yes?" She says, turning to face Emma.
"Can my friend, come over tonight?" She asks.
"Not tonight." Jac replies "I'm exhausted Emma, so maybe tomorrow."
"Okay." Emma says, sitting on the sofa.
"Emmy." Harriet says, sitting on the sofa next to her.
"Yeah?" Emma says, looking down at her.
"You drawy?" She says, picking up some pens.
"I'm busy."
"Pleaseee." Harriet says, as she sniffles.
"I'm busy!" Emma says, raising her voice a bit.
Harriet turns away and starts to draw something.
Jac returns and puts dinner down on the table "Put your stuff down, and eat."
"Otay." Harriet says, as she starts to eat.
"When is daddy coming home?" Harriet asks, playing with her food.
"Later." Jac replies "Stop playing with your food."
An hour later...
Harriet toddles into Emma's room, and she starts to play with some of Emma's stuff.
She starts to play with some of Emma dolls, when Emma walks in.
"Harriet! What are you doing?" Emma says, crossing her arms.
"Pwaying." Harriet replies, as she stands up.
"Put my stuff down!" Emma shouts, getting angry.
"No me pway."
"Put it down." Emma replies, inching closer to her.
"No!" Harriet replies, as she feels something hit her face - Emma's hand.
Harriet drops the stuff and bursts into tears.
Jac hears her crying, and walks upstairs "What is going on here?" She asks, just wanting to sleep.
"She wit me!" Harriet says, still crying.
"Emma?" Jac says, turning to face her.
"She hit me first, so I hit her back."
"Both of you, it isn't acceptable okay?" Jac says "I want you to apologise."
"Sorry." Emma says, looking down.
Harriet shakes her head "I didn't wit you."
"You did!" Emma replies, sounding angry.
"Just apologise and we can forget about it okay?" Jac sighs, rubbing her head.
"Sworry." Harriet says, as Jac picks her up.
"Right madam, I think it's bedtime."
"Otay, mummy." Harriet replies, as they walk into her bedroom.
Jac tucks her in, reads her a story and kisses her goodnight.
"Goodnight, baby." Jac smiles, as she walks out.
"Emma, what really happened?" Jac asks, walking into her bedroom.
"Like I said she hit me, so I hit her."
"Okay." Jac sighs "Goodnight."
"Night, mum." Emma says, as she settles into bed.
Jac walks downstairs, and Kian walks in.
"Hey, you look tired." He smiles, as he puts his coat and bag away.
"The kids have been, a handful." She exhales.
"What did they do this time?" Kian says, walking up to her and wrapping his hands around her waist.
"They thought slapping each other, was a fun thing to do." Jac replies, as Kian snuggles into her neck.
"What?"
"Harriet hit Emma, so Emma hit back."
"Well anyway, I'm going to bed." Jac says, as she starts to walk away "Fancy joining me, Madani?" She winks.
"I think I will." Kian says, running up the stairs after her.
Thirty minutes later...
Jac lays in Kian's arms, and smiles "Missed that."
"Mhm." Kian says, as he turns to face her.
"How are you really?" He asks.
"Tired, I want to lay down and die." She replies, resting her head on her pillow.
"I failed Hannah, I failed Kellie and I failed my kids."
"You didn't fail anyone, Jac." He smiles "Don't let anyone tell you that."
"I love you." She smiles, back.
"I love you too."
