he said as he opened the car door for me

he closed the door and ran over to get in the drivers seat and drove off
eli: mind telling me where we're going?
kairi: oh! right, sorry! they opened up a new ice cream shop nearby, I know how much you like ice cream
I laughed
eli: do you remember that one time we went to go get ice cream, and this girl took the last mint chocolate, so we had to bribe her to give it to you

we both laughed

I made it clear to dylan that I wanted to be with him, now it was time to make it clear to kairi as well, I just hope it doesn't get awkward

he laughed and got out of the car, then went over to open my door

after a "long" while, we finally got to order and I ended up getting a strawberry cone

he paid for my ice cream then made his way over to the girl

he fixed his hair and walked over to her

he looked her up and down and then furrowed his brows, she got all red and her friends were snickering
girl: o-oh! um y-you can have it! I haven't even touched it yet!
his face lit up

girl: y-yeah here!
she handed it to him and he licked it, slowly

he smiled and winked at her then walked back over to me
eli: you sneaky fuck
kairi: mint chocolate!
he giggled like a little kid and I laughed as we walked out of the shop and drove back to the front of the hotel
kairi: don't fuck up my seats
he handed me napkins
eli: you act like I can't eat properly-
as soon as I said that I dropped some ice cream in between my legs, right on the seat. my hands were really sticky since the worker had gotten ice cream on the cone
kairi: the FIRST thing I tell you

kairi: i'll clean it, clean your hands before you touch anything else! you sticky child
eli: HUH
he laughed and reached over to clean the seat, his hand touched the inside of my thigh and he quickly took it away

he seemed so scared

he was acting as if we had never touched each other, not in that way, but just acting as if we have never come in physical contact before
eli: so, what was it you wanted to talk about?
he stiffened a bit and then proceeded to lick his ice cream
kairi: oh yeah.. so now that you and dylan are dating, I cant really, you know "win you over" cause I want to respect your guys' relationship

kairi: I um.. i was hoping we could be friends again, like "old times"
eli: ah... you mean besties!
he chuckled
kairi: yeah, besties kai and eli
eli: i've... actually been thinking about that as well..
kairi: really?
eli: yeah, I just don't know how that would work

he weakly smiled and looked down at his ice cream, I really wanted to have him back in my life again. it hurt so much getting over him, but right now.. I just want to be able to call him my best friend again, like when we were kids.

he looked over at me

eli: ..yeah
he smiled and reached over to hug me, the hug was so long yet so short, i didn't want to let go but then my phone buzzed
kayla: do you see me waving!
I looked out of the window and kayla was at the room window waving at me, kairi and I both laughed
eli: I better get going
kairi: right!
he got out to open the door for me
eli: thank you for the ice cream, kai

he laughed
kairi: what time is your departure? I wanna give you something before you leave
eli: 9 pm on friday, i'll text you the name of the airport
kairi: alright
he leaned on his car and waved goodbye as I walked in the hotel. things finally felt normal again, not completely, but I didn't have this weight on my shoulders anymore. I walked upstairs to my room and all three besties were in the room
dylan: ooo ice cream! gimmie!
eli: nice to see you too
dylan: you smell like fancy cologne
kayla threw a pillow at him
eli: his car smelled like cologne, it stuck onto me, okay?
I handed the cone over to dylan and sat down
dylan: you sure you two weren't just getting handsy?
eli: well, we hugged but that's about it

I walked out of the room to the balcony, shutting the door and curtains behind me. the sound of the cars and wind drowned out their voices but I could still here a light muffle
kayla: what's your deal

kayla: why would you even say those things, you know she would never cheat on you. she's trying to reassure you that she only wants you, yet here you are doing shit like this

kayla: get out of the room, i'm serious get the fuck out. you pissed me off with that shit.

he got up and left the room, in shame of what he had done. I rested my head on my hand, taking in a deep breath. what am I to do.. is dylan going to be like this even when we go back to japan? there was a soft knock on the balcony window and then kayla walked out
kayla: wow it's cold
eli: yeah..
she walked over to me and looked out into the city
eli: I fix things with one person, and end up with the other one mad at me.. I just can't win, i'm always in the wrong..
I covered my face
kayla: you didn't do anything wrong, dylan's just being an insecure asshole
eli: maybe so but.. wouldnt you get jealous if your partner went to go see someone, and you knew they had a past
kayla: well obviously I would, but I wouldn't react the way dylan did. if my partner was reassuring me that they only wanted to be involved with me then I would trust their word
eli: im trying to make him see that.. he just can't meet me halfway
kayla: I already scolded him girl, it won't take long for him to apologize
I chuckled

we hugged and went back inside the room. we were watching some videos on my bed, laughing and ended up dozing off. the next morning was quiet, calm, you could hear the clock ticking, there wasn't even static in the air. Andy and Dylan's absence really makes a difference in the mornings. a little while after, kayla had finally woken up
eli: let's go eat, i'm starving
kayla: im gonna take a quick shower first, i'll meet you down in the cafeteria
eli: alright, do you want me to get you a plate? you know henry isn't very considerate of other people's hunger
kayla: henry is such a fatass, but like he's not
eli: mans eats SO MUCH but stays in shape
kayla: oh to have a fast metabolism
eli: we can only dream
kayla: save me some waffles, and bacon!

I put my slides on and left the room. I had to take the stairs since the elevator was out of service. when I got to the cafeteria I saw dylan and andy playing around, shoving eachother to get food. I got a plate and of course, they just HAD to be right in front of the waffles and bacon.
andy: good morning, Eli!
eli: morning, Andy
andy: where's my sister?
eli: she's taking a shower, she said she'd be down in a few though
dylan: ..
I kept my eyes on serving myself the food but I could feel dylan eying me
andy: here, let me help you with kaylas
eli: thanks
we walked over to the table and sat down. it was so awkward, andy was trying his best to make it less awkward but the tension in the air was so overpowering, i'd almost rather die
eli: ah,i'll be right back
I got up and walked over to get some orange juice for kayla and I. part of me wanted to talk to dylan, but my pride was just too big, plus he's the one who should be apologizing to me
