That night, Kendrick was laying in the bed and Diamond got on top of him.
"I need to talk to you", Diamond said.
"Do you need to talk to me or do you wanna do something else", Kendrick asked as he smirked.
"Talk", Diamond replied with a straight face.
"...okay", Kendrick said as he realized it was something serious.
"Payton...do you like?", Diamond asked.
"No", Kendrick replied.
"Do you guys flirt?", Diamond asked.
"I don't flirt with her. She flirts with me but I told her to stop and she has so far", Kendrick said.
"Why didn't you tell me?", Diamond asked.
"Because it was nothing serious and I was able to handle it", Kendrick said. "I mean that's what you were going to tell me to do anyway right?"
"...I guess you have a point about that", Diamond said.
"What did she tell you anyway? I noticed that Payton is a little sneaky", Kendrick said.
"Nothing. It doesn't matter because at the end of the day I believe you", Diamond said before she kissed him.
Kendrick kissed back.
Diamond started kissing his neck then his chest.
"Oh shit na", Kendrick said as Diamond started getting lower and and lower.
Suddenly, Kendrick's phone started ringing.
"Shit", Kendrick said as Diamond stop.
Kendrick reached for his phone and answered it. "Dr. Mills", he said as he sat on the edge of the bed.
Diamond sighed. She heard a knock at the door so got out of the bed and walked out of the room to see Ayanna.
"Hey baby. You okay?", Diamond asked.
"I had a bad dream", Ayanna said.
"Okay baby, you can sleep with me. Hold on", Diamond said.
Diamond opened the door.
"I'll be back. I gotta go to the hospital", Kendrick said.
"Okay", Diamond said. "Get your clothes and get dressed in the bathroom. Ayanna is coming in"
Kendrick grabbed his clothes and went into the bathroom.
Diamond let Ayanna into the room and Ayanna walked to the bed and got in.
"What did you dream about baby?", Diamond asked
"I don't wanna talk about it", she said as she got under the covers.
"...okay. Maybe tomorrow?", Diamond said.
Minutes later Kendrick came out of the bathroom.
"I don't ever get a break", Kendrick said.
"Mo' money", Diamond said .
"Yea but money isn't even at the same stature of spending time with you the kids", Kendrick said.
Diamond smiled.
Ayanna watched them.
"Goodnight Ayanna", Kendrick said.
"Night night", Ayanna replied.
"Goodnight momma", Kendrick said before he kissed Diamond.
"Stay safe", Diamond said.
"You too", Kendrick said before he left the room.
Diamond got into bed with Ayanna and held her.
"I love you", Diamond said.
"I love you too mommy", Ayanna replied.
Diamond turned off the lamp and got under the covers with Ayanna.
"...mommy?", Ayanna asked.
"Yes?", Diamond replied.
"How come you and daddy aren't together?", Ayanna asked.
"...we had our differences", Diamond said.
"He told me that he loves you", Ayanna said. "And he didn't want to divorce"
Diamond assumed that Ayanna asked him the same question.
"He said that it's what you wanted and he wanted to you be happy", Ayanna said.
"...yea. That's true but right now you aren't old enough to understand baby", Diamond said.
"...I want daddy", Ayanna said.
Diamond got quiet.
"I don't wanna go to sleep without daddy. He keeps the monster away", Ayanna said.
"What monster? You didn't tell me about a monster", Diamond said.
"In my dreams", Ayanna said.
"What does this monster do?", Diamond asked.
Ayanna didn't say anything.
"...I see. You don't wanna talk about it", Diamond said.
Ayanna shook her head.
"When I was younger, I used to have had dreams too. I was older than you but still I had them. It was about my mother, your grandmother. She passed away and every night I used to have dreams about her. They started off good, then they ended up making me feel the pain I could ever feel over and over again", Diamond said. "She would always end of leaving me"
"How did the stop?", Ayanna asked.
"I talked about it with someone that I trusted", Diamond said. "You can trust me right?"
"Yes?", Ayanna said.
"Then you can talk to me about it, when you want", Diamond said.
Ayanna didn't say anything.
It was silent in the room as Diamond rubbed Ayanna's back. Eventually Ayanna went to sleep and so did Diamond.
