"Whew! Something definitely died in here," Banner states as he ducks through the doorway
"Hello? Thor?" I shout, trying to catch his attention
The sound of clinking bottles could be heard from the living room.
"Are you here about the cable?" Thor shouts from somewhere in the house
He walks by so quickly that I could barely see him.
"The Cinemax went out two weeks ago... and the sports are all kinda fuzzy and whatnot," he continues to ramble on
Banner, Rocket and I enter the living room to see three people, Thor had his back facing us but I could tell that he was different.
"Thor?" I ask shyly
Thor slowly turns around and his eyes meet ours, at first, he wore a confused look but his expression soon softened.
"Boys! and Lady! Oh, my God!" he shouts as he opens his arms, walking towards us for an embrace
He starts off with Banner and gives him a tight hug, Banner welcomes him with a smile. It was nice to see him after all this time. Thor then moves on to Rocket and crouches down to give him a hug, Rocket wasn't as welcoming to Thor's hug but Thor ignores him completely. Once Thor stands back up he looks at me and smiles with the biggest smile I have ever seen on his face. I open my arms, welcoming him into my embrace. I could tell he really needed a hug. He approaches me slowly and lays his head on my shoulder as I hug him tightly in an attempt to make him feel as safe and loved as possible. I didn't hear from him much during the five years that we hadn't seen each other but I also wasn't too sure how to contact him. Seeing him here today brought me a warm feeling, a sense of home. I missed him more than I thought. As we ended our embrace he smiled once again, wiping any tears that had fallen down his tanned face.
"It's so good to see you all," Thor smiled
"It's good to see you too buddy," Rocket replies
"These are my friends, Miek and Korg," Thor smiles as he turns to point to the two characters on the couch, playing a video game together
"Hello!" the tall built one states, he seems to be made of rocks which normally I would be confused by but apparently, anything is possible now
Thor opens the beer in his hand and begins to chug the bottle. Banner approaches Thor slowly and places a hand on his shoulder, making sure Thor was paying attention to him.
"Buddy, Are you okay?" Banner asks softly
"Yes, I'm fine, why? Don't I look alright?" Thor replies in confusion
"You look like melted ice cream," Rocket mumbles
"Rocket!" I say looking at him in anger
Thor just chuckles and ignores the remark and takes another sip of his beer.
"So, are you guys just here to hang out, or what?" Thor asks
"Thor, we need your help," I reply
"There might be a chance we could fix everything," Banner continues
"What, like the cable? Cause' that's been driving me bananas for weeks," Thor asks cluelessly
"Like Thanos," Banner states
Thor was caught off guard by the statement, he looks down at the ground and let out a heavy sigh. He looked almost as if he was flashing through each and every memory of Thanos and the damage he caused, the lives he took. Thor brings his hand up to Banner's shoulder and grips onto his shirt tightly.
"Don't say that name," Thor says as his hand begins to shake
"Yeah, we actually don't say that name here," Korg states as he stands up from the couch, removing the headset
Thor releases his hand from Banner's shirt slowly.
"Now, I know that guy might scare you," Banner states
"Why would I be? Why would I be scared of that guy? I'm the one who killed that guy, remember?" Thor asks with a scoff
I slowly walk towards Thor and place a hand on his shoulder. He looks up at the ceiling before his eyes meet with mine.
"Thor... I get it. You're in a rough spot. Trust me, I've been there myself. Do you know who helped get me out of it? You... alongside all the other Avengers. We need you," I say softly
He brushes past me and sits down on a chair that was placed next to a window.
"Why don't you ask all the Asgardians down there how much my help is worth... or at least what's left of them," he mumbles
"I think we could bring them back," Banner replies
"Stop. Stop, okay? I know you think I'm down here wallowing in my own self-pity waiting to be saved and rescued but I'm fine, okay?" Thor chuckles
"We need you, Thor," I state
"There's beer on the ship," Rocket states
Thor chuckles as he looks out the window. He turns his gaze to meet with Rocket and tears can be seen filling his eyes, he chuckles once more.
"What kind?" he asks
"All-kinds" Rocket laughs
"Put a shirt on and come with us Thor," I continue
He sighs quite loudly and stands up, walking off to another room leaving us alone with Korg and Miek. They don't turn their attention away from the video game until Thor enters the room once again. He is now fully dressed and begins to head for the door. Korg and Miek wave as we follow behind Thor, heading back down into New Asgard to catch a ride back to Rocket's ship. The ride back to the Compound is quiet. Thor sat in the back of the ship, drinking beer the entire ride there. Once we landed, he stuffed a few of the beers in his pockets and stumbled off the ship. Once we got inside, everyone was already hard at work helping Tony build what looked to be a quantum portal, except this one was much larger than the one in the back of Scott's van. Banner rushed in to get caught up on what he missed, I walked behind Thor making sure he didn't fall over since he was stumbling all over the place. He couldn't walk in a straight line if his life depended on it. He begins leaning to one side and Tony comes walking beside him, carrying a few heavy parts.
"One side there, Lebowski!" Tony states as he passes Thor
Thor puts his hands up in defence and continues to stumble, I rush up behind him and link my arm with his, guiding him to a nearby chair.
"Stay here big guy, okay?" I smile
He simply nods and leans back into the chair, watching everyone hard at work. I run up beside Steve who had just finished putting some parts down where Banner needed them to be.
"Hey, how's everything going?" I ask
"Well, Tony seems to have a pretty solid plan, so I say it's all good," he smiles
"Good, good," I reply while fiddling my fingers and looking all around the room at everyone, working hard
Steve lightly places his hand on my shoulder, catching my attention. My eyes met with his and he shot me a comforting smile.
"It's going to be okay, stop panicking," he chuckles
"I know, I'm just really worried about the probability of it all. I've already let myself get my hopes up. I don't want it to be all for nothing but more heartbreak," I mutter
"Even if this all doesn't work out, I and everyone else will still be here for you. We will all have each others backs if this is another loss," Steve replies
"Yeah, you're right. I just feel like another loss will really break some of us," I say while looking over at Thor slouched in his chair
"He's that bad huh?" Steve asks
"Worse than I thought. When he left here, all those years ago, I didn't think he would come to this point. I feel bad, I feel like I should have been there. I barely reached out," I reply
"He knows you there for him. You're watching out for him now, that's all that matters. Don't dwell on the past," Steve states
"Yeah, you're right... Never seem to let me down with these pep talks," I chuckle
"As long as it helps," he chuckles in response
I lightly place my hand on his shoulder before I walk over to Banner to see if he needed help with anything. I knew he would need all hands on deck for this one.
so sorry for the amount of time it took me to post this. i took a little break to catch up with school and such. did everyone watch the new tfatws episode?? i did and god i loved it!
