After dropping karlissa off, I went to hang out with Dylan for a while, I was grateful that the whole half-brother thing didn't affect us and no we still haven't confronted our parents about it.
after hanging out with them for a while I finally decided to go home as it was 5 already and the boys were leaving to spend new Year' at Brady's parents'.
I begged them to kidnap me and take me with them but those assholes enjoyed seeing me be tortured.
I parked my bike in front of my house and saw 2 limos ready for us. I was already dreading it. at least Ethan would be there.....
Ethan Yong was my best friend for 8 years now and if you haven't guessed it yet, he was also amelia's big brother. Ethan hated his family with a passion so we hit off pretty well because I hated his family and my family too. he was also the heir of his family business same as me so we have a lot in common
I haven't talked to him since winter break as he went to Sri Lanka to 'stay away from his family as far as he could. I don't blame him, his family is really controlling, and gold diggers despite having their own money (exhibit A- amelia) but Ethan wasn't anything like that.
I walked inside to see my parents already dressed and ready to go. they were busy on their phones and looked up when I walked through
"good you're here, get ready and we bought an extra limo for you and your date" mom says boringly
I also keep my expression blank "I don't have a date."
"What happened to the one you were gonna ask?"
"she was busy" I shrugged and went to change before they could ask any further. I got out my tux and changed into it and walked out
"lev we're leaving. be there by 7" dad ordered and I heard the front door open and close from the kitchen
I check the time and it was 6:36. I sigh and plop on the couch not caring if my suit got wrinkled
my phone dings with a text and I smile at the name that pops up
karlissa- having fun at the ball? ;)
me- well I'm not there yet. do you need a ride back?
please say yes, please say yes
karlissa- nope. I'm already back. I stopped by a target to get snacks for myself
me- save me some. I'll be there by midnight
karlissa- I'll try, no promises. will Aiza and Armaan be at the ball too? arent their family rich too?
me- they are but they don't normally attend things like these so I don't know.
karlissa- if they are tell them I said hi
me- will do. listen I gotta go before my dad flips out. see you in a couple of hours.
it takes her some time to type out a reply
karlissa- ok bye. have fun and maybe sneak me some food:)
I laugh while shaking my head. I switch off my phone and walk to my limo and get in
the limo stops in front of a fully decorated mansion. it looks really good, to be honest.
I walk out of the limo and walk to the front door with a stone-cold face.
of course, there was paparazzi.
on the front door, the whole Yong family was welcoming everyone. on seeing me amelia quickly fixed her hair. I tried not to roll my eyes.
"lev, welcome son" Mr.Yong smiled. emphasizing the 'son'.
"thank you " I shook his hand and ethan's
"yes welcome Mr. night, what a pleasure" Ethan says a little too sweetly clearly mocking his parents
I decided to play along "the pleasure is all mine"
Ethan gave a pleading look and I decided to save the fucker
"Mr. Yong can I borrow Ethan?" I ask
"of course." I smile and take Ethan by the arm and start to walk away
"phewwww thanks man I thought I would start snapping at people soon" he wipes the invisible sweat off his forehead
"no problem" I shrug
we both start talking and he tells me about Sri Lanka and how he didn't miss me at all
I just tune in and out of the conversation. I feel an arm on my shoulder and turn to see a girl my age standing there. not gonna lie, she was beautiful but I wasn't really interested and karlissa was more beautiful. karlissa was gorgeous.
"Hey, I'm Davina" she flirts
"Lev" I answer shortly
"so wanna go to the balcony? we could be alone" she purrs
"Nah I'm fine" I turn back to Ethan and he looks surprised
I hear her heels clicking away from a little too loudly.
"So who's the girl?" Ethan smirks
"what girl?" I fake confusion. he rolls his eyes
"dude that girl was hot and you rejected her so there only 2 possible reasons, either you found out you are gay or you found a girl. and I'm guessing it isn't the first one. "
I shrug and take a sip of my drink. there is another tap on my shoulder and I internally groan and turn, ready to tell the girl off
but I shut up quickly when I see it Aiza.
"Good to see you too," she says sarcastically noticing my annoyed face. I quickly shook it off.
"sorry, I didn't know it was you. why are you here? I thought the Naqvi's didn't attend these things" I ask she takes a sip of her drink which was just coke in a fancy glass. the Naqvi family also didn't drink.
"Mom said we should socialize" she answers. then she smiles "I came to ask you if you bought karlissa with you."
I could just see ethan smirking and dancing internally because he found out her name.
"no, I didn't. she was busy tonight" I lie
she frowns "dammit. I was counting on hanging out with her. all these girls are so fake. one of them was judging me because of my hijab." she rolls her eyes.
I never understood why people seem to hate girls who wore hijab. it's their culture so let them do whatever the fuck they want. people are assholes.
"you can hang out with us. where's Armaan?" I ask. I thought twins walked in pairs
as if she read my mind she said "twins don't go everywhere together" she rolls her eyes. "he is with our parents talking to some business partners"
me and Ethan tut and pity the poor guy. Aiza seems to finally notice Ethan and she extends her hand
"Aiza Naqvi" she greets
"Ethan Yong" he shook her hand. Armaan finally joins us. he looked exhausted
"have fun?" Aiza smirks
"shut up. you are lucky you don't have to do all that" he sneers
I furrow my brows "why? arent you both twins? I thought you both will get equal parts of the business"
"we will but I'm not really into business and there can be only one CEO so Armaan is stuck being the main heir"
"what are you interested in?" Ethan asks
"fashion designing." she answers without missing a beat and smiles.
I raise an eyebrow " you know karlissa is into modeling. you two could work together"
her face lights up "really? I would talk to her about that"
"you seem to know a lot about karlissa" Armaan smirks against the rim of his glass.
I roll my eyes but don't answer
"We all know you like her so when are you asking her out?" Aiza ask excitedly.
I don't try to deny the liking part "I don't know. but she's leaving on the 8th so I gotta ask her before that" I look down at my glass
"leaving where?" Ethan asks
so I tell them about everything. okay, maybe not everything but important things.
"lev there is only one thing I can tell you, don't wait. tell her how you feel and talk things out. that way if she feels the same way, you two can be together and if she doesn't, you are not left hanging on to something that cant happen and you get a closure"
we all look at Aiza in shock.
"How did you know so much about relationships?" Aiza rolls her eyes at her brother's overprotectiveness
she doesn't answer him and turns to me "its new Year. it the best time to confess your feelings."
I nod in understanding. "you are right, I will kiss her at midnight and confess my feelings" I say with determination
Aiza smiles "great" she clasp her hands together like a child
there's silence for a second
"so how do you know so much about relationships?" Armaan prompts. Aiza groans in frustration
