Today I hoped for what I knew I would not receive--
a phone call, a text message, a greeting--
any kind of reach and semblance of care
from the one that claims to truly love me.
How was today any different from yesterday,
or the day before that?
Why was the dashing of today's hope any
more painful
than the dashing of the day's before?
