"Scary... The Takada building's pretty close to here," a yellow-haired girl whispered to her black-haired friend. The yellow-haired girl then leaned close to her friend and said, "You'd be eaten in a second, Katrina. A scrawny kid like you who's always reading incomprehensible books."
"Hannah, if you would just pick up a book, you might get it," the black-haired girl, now known as Katrina, told her yellow-haired friend Hannah.

"Anyways, I was just thinking... I've never once seen a Ghoul. Do they really exist? Monsters that eat people," Katrina asked Hanna. Katrina always found Ghouls terrifying, and the mere thought of encountering one made her so paranoid that she consistently asked Hanna to walk her home.
"They must... I've heard they disguise themselves as humans and lie in wait... Then suddenly they're there, things like that," Hanna replied. Even though she displayed bravery outside, she too was afraid of encountering a Ghoul.
"Well, let's not talk about those topics anymore... So where is this new friend of yours? Is he a hot boy?" Hanna asked Katrina, curious to know more about her new friend.
"W-Well, for your information, it's a 'her,' and we became friends because we both read the same type of books," Katrina said to Hanna, a blush coloring her face.
Hanna spotted a blue-haired, tomboyish-looking girl who happened to be the waitress taking orders at a nearby table. "Oh, is it her?" Hanna asked Katrina, pointing at the waitress.
"No, it's not!! And Hanna, stop pointing at people; it's rude!" As Katrina went on to berate Hanna, she failed to notice the purple-haired beauty who entered the cafe—until Hanna pointed it out.

"Who? Oh, y-yes, she is the one," Katrina confirmed to Hanna. Meanwhile, Hanna felt suspicious about the new individual—something didn't quite add up. She decided to ignore the suspicion and proceeded to bid farewell to her friend.
"Well, Katrina, I need to go now. I hope you have fun." With that, Hanna bid farewell to Katrina.
"So, Katrina-chan, let's go somewhere else and have some snacks," Rize asked Katrina with a twisted smile, which Katrina was too focused on the ground to notice.
"O-Oh, sure."
