Chapter Seven

I took the parchment from the owl's leg and quickly unfold it. The letter contained a reminder of the time the train leaves, the date we are expected at Hogwarts and a list of supplies. At the bottom of the list in big letters you could see the following words:

IN LIGHT OF EVENTS WHICH OCCURRED LAST YEAR IT HAS BEEN DECIDED THAT FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ARE NO LONGER ALLOWED TO BRING THEIR OWN BROOM.

Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall.

I laughed. There is no doubt in my mind that McGonagall decided to implement this rule after witnessing James's catastrophe of a birthday quidditch match. He was really lucky we were in our second year now, because if not I'm a hundred percent certain he would throw a tantrum about not being able to join the quidditch team.

The next week me and Lily went along with our mum to buy our supplies, and now that I think about it, it was the first time Lily and I spent time together without any of the boys.

I forgot how much time together we used to spend before Hogwarts, before we took our separate ways, but as we talked, laughed and caught up on everything that has happened I realized no matter how long we are apart we will always be friends because in the end we are sisters first.

When we arrived at King Cross station we headed in different directions, but not before agreeing that this year we will make a little more effort to spend time together. Remus and I walked to our usual compartment and as soon as we opened the door we were met with loud voices and laughs. Sirius was nowhere to be seen, but I suspect he's probably sitting with his brother.

"Oi you're finally here!" James grinned, pushing his glasses up his nose. "Thank Merlin. He's been saying he will tell us all about his summer since we stepped on the train, but insisting only after you arrived." Peter said. We walked inside and closed the door.

As soon as the train started to move James began telling us about his summer, then it was Peter, and finally Remus and I. As expected their reactions were priceless as we told them about Snape, and they couldn't stop laughing at Remus's impression of him.

"Oi James, you should be glad we're in second year and you get to bring your broom." Remus said after we stopped laughing. "I was actually wondering why they made up that new rule." Peter said. "Well it's quite obvious Pete, it's James's fault!" Remus exclaimed.

"Mine!?" He asked bewildered. "Oh come on James. It's quite obvious Minnie decided to make that rule after she saw what happened to us when you made us have a quidditch match for your birthday." I explained it to him.

"Since when do you call McGonagall Minnie?" Remus added. "Since now." "I actually like it." Peter said, and James agreed.

This year instead of the boats we were taken by the horseless carriages up to the Hogwarts front doors. As soon as we arrived I ran out of my carriage, leaving the boy's behind, and went looking for Alice. I looked between the sea of students, focusing on those who were wearing black and blue until I spotted her familiar smiling face.

"Alice! She looked around until her eyes found me. "Prim!" We both sprinted to greet each other with a hug. "Oh I missed you so much." "Me too, you have to tell me all about your vacation in Germany." "And you have to tell me about what you did." "Oh Alice there's not much to tell." She rolled her eyes at me, but gave me a smile.

Me and Alice talked about everything and anything that happened over the summer. I love how easy it was to talk to her, it is almost like talking with Lily, everything just feels natural between us.

I wasn't really paying much attention to the sorting ceremony until I heard a familiar name being called.

"Regulus Black!"

A boy who looked a lot like Sirius, but a bit smaller and with curlier hair walked up to the front. He acted just like his brother, walking to the front head held high, and a graceful step. I looked over to the Gryffindor table and I saw that Sirius had stopped paying attention to what the other boys were saying, focusing solely on his brother.

Then the hat finally shouted. "Slytherin!" I saw Sirius's shoulders drop and a sad smile appeared on his face before he turned back to the boys with the biggest smile like nothing ever happened.

The cheering in the green and silver table was deafening, for a rightful Black heir was sorted in the right house. Regulus stood up from the stool glancing at his brother before walking to the table where he was welcomed with open arms.

Our classes for this year are the same as last: Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, History of Magic, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Astronomy and Herbology, which means I will be able to manage doing my homework, spend time with my friends, and carry on my research.

Two months had already passed, James had made into the quidditch team as a chaser, and we had done yet another prank which had landed us in detention. We thought it would be pretty funny but turns out Minnie's definition of fun is quite different from ours.

It took some convincing but eventually we persuaded Remus, who was the best out of the five of us in Charms, to charm the teachers to only be able to speak in Gobbledegook. Professor Dumbledore found it quite amusing, McGonagall on the other hand not so much.

It seems that McGonagall has a sixth sense, or whatever you want to call it, when it comes to knowing it is us who are causing trouble or breaking the rules. The moment she realized she wasn't speaking English she turned to give us a stern look.

She then proceeded to start chastising us, and as much as we tried to hold in our laughter, we couldn't. Despite the angry look on her face and the rapid movement of her mouth we couldn't understand a word she was saying, which caused our laughter, but earned us a double detention the moment the charm wore off.

Sirius's birthday was near, which meant James had already started planning for the sleepover, but Merlin, does that boy never shut up. "So Peter, you're in charge of bringing the snacks, Remus you have to distract Sirius long enough so me and Prim-" I cut him off. "Can decorate the common room. Yes James we have perfectly clear what we have to do, as you so kindly reminded us for the fifth time."

"Alright there's no need to be rude Evans." I just laughed at him. "You know you love me either way." He pushed his glasses up his nose. "I'm starting to doubt it." I just laughed again. "Well lads it was fun hanging out with you but I have to go." "Wait, where are you going, or are you going to keep it a secret like Sirius?" Remus was looking at me suspiciously. "I'm just going to the library Rem, no need to worry."

I started walking towards the library. "Good night Prim!" I turned to look over my shoulder. "Goodnight Pete." I arrived at the library and waved at Madam Pince before looking for my books and sat down at my usual table near a window.

I was falling asleep on top of the table. Once again I had stayed here past curfew, my eyelids were closing as I reread the same words over and over again.

Ever since I stepped foot inside of Hogwarts I've been coming to the library every spare second I have to read about Remus's condition. I'm pretty confident I have read every book there is, but there's only so much a twelve year old girl can read without getting too tired. I huffed, closed the book, and made my way out of the library as quietly as possible.

As I walked back to my dorm I couldn't help but feel defeated. I really want to help Remus, find something to help him. Maybe I should listen to him when he says there is no cure, no way of getting rid of this. It should be enough to be there for him after every full moon, and make him feel better, so he doesn't forget about the amazing person that he is.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard footsteps, I looked to my right and left to find a place to hide. I held my breath hoping that it wouldn't be Filch or any other professor, and then suddenly the tapestry was pulled back.

"You know, if it had been anyone else you would've gotten detention right now." He said grinning. "Sirius, you almost gave me a heart attack. How did you know it was me?" He laughed a little before answering. "Well firstly you weren't exactly very well hidden, anyone walking by could've seen you, secondly you're the only person I know who has fiery red hair, I saw it before you could hide." "You're forgetting Lily has the same hair as me." I said back to him.

"You're correct, but judging by the hour, and the fact that is past curfew I'm pretty sure it could've only been you." I opened my mouth to answer him but no words came out. He was right Lily would rather die before breaking a rule.

"What are you doing out this late?" I asked him. "I could ask you the same thing." He smirked at me. "How about we make a deal, I don't ask you, you don't ask me, and we both pretend none of this happened." I said, offering my hand. He looked at it before grabbing it and shaking it. "Deal." He let go of my hand and the both of us started walking in opposite directions.

After a few steps I heard him stop so I turned around. "Goodnight Prim." I smiled back at him. "Goodnight Sirius."
