Katie's P.O.V.
Location; Shopping mall
We're all sitting around a table discussing what we're supposed to do in order to Zombie proof this place when Mariah reminds us about Xiomara's pregnancy. We all look at the couple to see Xiomara with her hands on her belly.
"I'll go out and find a place with the medical equipment" Levi says as if he could go out there alone, if he wants to die alone, fine with me but then Brandon shakes his head.
"You'll have to take someone with you, if you go out there" Brandon says making Levi sigh but one look from Xiomara makes him shut up. Brandon looks at me asking if I want to and I nod, I am not really in a mood for discussing this, and it's the smartest for me to go with him, sense I am the one who trusts him the least. Mariah says I have trust issues, but I don't see that.
"You'll be going with Katie" Brandon says in a voice that leaves no room for discussion, like I expected it would be if I said no, but Levi looks at me, then at him with a sneer on his face.
"I don't want her with me, give me the boy" Levi says making me roll my eyes. I briefly glance at Leo who seems like he doesn't want to go with Levi either, oh boy nobody likes him.
"You're not even a boy on your own" I retort, he glares at me glancing down on his lap, but I pay him no mind and look at Mariah as we both fist bump with smirks on our faces.
"Funny" He sneers at me, somebody is pity there, Brandon clears his throat, and all the attention is brought over to him. By now it must be clear that Brandon is the leader, and it doesn't surprise me, he has a good relationship with every one of us.
"You'll be going with Katie, end of discussion" Brandon says, and this time Levi doesn't say anything giving me a silent satisfaction. I bet he is salty about it, and only the thought makes me grin.
"You'll leave in an hour, pack some food with you and some ammo" Luna says and the two of us nod. I look over towards Mariah who's munching on her piece of bread while Leo keeps poking her, gosh they are like kids, but I honestly don't mind it even a little bit.
"You guys will be fixing the clog, right?" I ask and Mariah looks at me and nods with a grin on her face before slapping Leo's hand away. Yup they are 100% kids, I don't really mind, I think it's fun and I am happy that Mariah is enjoying herself.
"Hell yeah, I want to put my skills to work" Mariah states and Leo looks at her as if her grins are the prettiest thing in the world. I think I'm going to throw up just looking at it, they need to slow down by now.
"What skills?" Leo seems to snap out of whatever daze he was in just to throw that jab at her, and she looks at him with narrowed eyes.
"The skills you clearly lack" She retorts before looking at me ignoring him and continues "We need to get the water up and running fully, I need a bath" She then holds her finger up in front of Leo's face in a manner that says shut up "Don't you dare comment on how much I stink."
"Can we please get moving?" Levi asks in annoyance; I roll my eyes as clear as I can before I get up. Mariah gives me a small salute and I do it back to her, but with two fingers instead of the whole hand. I quickly grab my bag before walking over to our food supply place and start to stuff it with some food. Honestly this isn't much of supply room, you would think that we would have much more by now. Brandon gets up to see us off.
"You get two days then we come looking for you" Brandon says after we hug. Levi and I nod before we head out of the furniture store, we walk out of the building completely. I take a deep breath of the fresh air, that I haven't had since we came with the helicopter. I stretch my arms a little with a small smile on my face. I think it has been 8 days since then, I am not sure it hard to keep track.
"Need an hour or two?" I hear Levi's voice ask, my smile immediately drops, and my arms fall down to my side and I glare at him before saying "You really know how to ruin it, don't you?". I don't think Xio would mind if I just left him behind.
"If my presence annoys you so much, you can always just go back" He says with his arms crossed, I cross my own arms at him, and move closer, just to show that I won't back down. Gosh this is so childish.
"Which way are we going?" I ask, a silent way of telling him that he's stuck with me. He scowls at me before turning on his heels and walking a random direction, for me it is random at least. I follow him silently with my Ice axe in my hand ready to strike anything that gets too close to us. I look around, there's not so many Zombies out and the ones that are, are pretty slow meaning they haven't eaten in a long time.
"Do you know this area?" I ask catching up to Levi who's walking a little ahead of me, Levi glances back at me before nodding but says nothing else. We walk past a gas station; I look at it for a second. We could get some fuel from here for the helicopter. "Hey, on the way home let's get some fuel from there."
"Why?" He asks furrowing his brows in confusion.
"We have a helicopter on the roof, it's almost out of gas" I explain, he looks back at the mall that we've walked away from, we're a couple blocks away so you can only see the roof, and sure enough you can see the wings of the helicopter.
"Where did you get a helicopter?" He asks curiously as he turns to me. I think back to the events that led us to get it.
"We borrowed it from some soldiers" I can feel a smirk on my face start to surface as I think about those selfish bastards.
"You stole it?" He asks and I look at him for a second before flashing him my smirk which makes his eyes widen and now it's my turn to walk ahead of him even though I have no idea where we're going. I feel like a stupid child.
I go to the gas station and take a few of these big bottles, I can't really remember what they are called, and fill them with gas.
"why are you bothering with that now?" he asks.
"I need to make sure that we have some when we come back, I will just hide it in the bushes" I say while nodding over to the bushes of the gas station. And still filling these red bottles, that actually matches my red leather jacket.
"could you hurry?" Black says demandingly. The nickname black fits him perfectly, to both his heart and attitude.
I just finished filling 3 of these with gas, and black just watched stupidly instead of helping me, I hurry over to the bushes to hide the bottles. But a Z is attacking me, and I have no option to kill him, because all these bottles are in my hands.
Black shoots the Z, and It falls to the ground in front of my feet, thankfully. Wait he shot it.
"damn it Black, the Z's can hear this shot 1 mile from here" I say a little louder than I normally talk.
"do you say thanks like that sunshine" he pauses in realization "black?"
"yeah, Black just like your attitude" I snap at him.
"hmm, I like that, thank you sunshine" he answers calmly. He did not just do that, he is annoying no matter what, I hide the bottles.
When I turn around, he is already back on the street and I run silently after him, gosh I hate these short legs.
"Think there's a lot of zombies at the hospital?" I ask and he nods his head while shooting a Zombie that gets too close to us, can't he stop using that fucking gun. "It's a hospital, people die at hospitals, use your head."
"You really are just annoying" I scoff, and we start to walk in silence, the only sound you can hear are the snarls of the zombies and their footsteps. I know it's weird, but I've gotten used to it, I've gotten used to something trying to hurt me and chase me, it's weird and nobody should be used to it but I am.
I look up, just as a Zombie runs towards me and I quickly bury my Ice Axe in her head, I pull it back before sliding it out of her head and she falls to the ground. I step over the corpse and keep following Levi who seems as unbothered as ever. I look at Levi's tattoo that says something in Japanese, I really want to ask about it, but I know he won't answer me.
"What does your tattoo say?" I ask, his eyes cut to me like knives, but I don't flinch at his murderous look. I raise an eyebrow as if he's going to answer me.
"None of your business" He practically bark at me, I hold my hands up in defense and the rest of the way we walk in silence, as soon as we get to the hospital, around 2 hours of walking, we spot some Zombies already outside. I pull out my gun and aim before shooting two Zombies in the head, I really shouldn't have used my gun. Other Zombies notices us, we sent a silent look to each other and I twirl the Ice Axe around my finger before ramming into one of the Zombies, I quickly pull it out while shooting at another Zombie.
Levi and I both move towards the doors that are closed while fighting off as many Zombies as we can. Levi's the first one to reach it and quickly opens the door and checks for any Zombies. We both hurry inside leaving the Zombies outside behind.
I won't know if anything was inside right now.
