OLD MISSION | 01
[Host, welcome back to the Space. Do you want to go back to any mission you had failed before?]
June thought about all the missions he had failed. He was still new to the system and as a rookie employee he had made lots of mistakes.
However, there was one particular mission he had choose to fail willingly. He didn’t regret failing the mission. He had choose to fail it but it somehow left a bitter taste in his mouth as he left the world.
June took in a deep breath trying to calm his nerves. He knew the supporting actor of that world did not deserve such an ending.
And he wanted to see those dark eyes again.
“I would like to go back to Ian Wang's mission.”
[Yes, host. Collecting data of mission 7689.]
[Data collected. Host, we are entering the old world.]
June felt himself slip into a dark nothingness as Venus began to introduce the mission. He knew about already.
[Mission Reintroduction : The story takes place in a high school. The male lead of the story is Ian Wang who is a loner and he stays alone most of the time.
The female lead of the story—Alicia Tang and supporting actor has been in love with each other and are in a relationship.
The supporting actor of the story is suffering from a terminal illness known as ALS. He has a weak body and is constantly sick. One day, when he was on leave the male lead and female lead gets paired up for a project and become acquainted.
The supporting actor gets seriously sick and is hospitalized. While the supporting actor was in hospital Alicia and Ian grow close with each other and fall in love.
Alicia meets up with the supporting actor and breaks up with him. Since they used to be childhood friends, the supporting actor always stayed by Alicia's side and supported her. Soon, his sickness grows worse and he dies.
After growing up Alicia and Ian gets married and grow old together.]

“…that is how we find the sum.”
June was in a classroom. He looked beside him and immediately recognized the sleeping boy.
Ian Wong.
Ian Wong had his arms over his side of the desk and was resting his head on them, sleeping. June looked at the male lead.
Last time, he had seen Ian, they were on the stage acting. And June had fainted right after their play was over.
It was that time when June realized the sickness was going to take his life anyway so, making Ian fall from him would be too cruel. He had left the mission because of that.
However, Ian had always been there in the back of his mind. Those dark opal eyes were hard to get rid of even after June busied himself in different missions.
The teacher’s lecture became a distant muffle as June continued to observed Ian.
Ian's tanned skin and unruly hair were just the same June had remembered. June continued admiring the light golden glow of the tanned skin and the way the sun rays from the window seeped through the circles of Ian’s curls.
Suddenly, Ian snapped opened his eyes and looked at June.
June's eyes widen in surprise. Those eyes were just like he remembered.
Dark and empty.
But again, those dark empty eyes had their own charm. They looked like pristine and unspoiled pair of onyx gem. They were an endless dark tunnel. The more you look, the more you got lost in them.
June was still progressing the look of Ian’s face when Ian glared at him and turned his head away and started sleeping.
After the class was over, Ian felt someone tap his shoulder. He looked back and saw the boy with hazel eyes.
“What?” he grunted.
June smiled brightly.
“Wanna have lunch together?”
“No,” Ian snapped and got up.
“Wa-wait!” June panicked. He got up and reached out to grab Ian’s arm but his foot got stuck over the chair's leg.
With a yelp June fell face down on the floor.
The first thing he felt was embarrassment. His ears and neck burned as he pushed himself up with a hiss.
Ian watched June who was nursing his chin.
“Idiot,” Ian murmured as he squatted down, in front of June and gently held June’s face and examine them.
His eyes flickered over the plump lips.
How is his lips so pink?
Ian shook away the thought quickly. His cold eyes raked over June’s bruised face.
“Let’s get you to the nurse room,” Ian muttered, “You had quiet a nasty fall.”
“I am fine,” June squeaked. Ian was way too close to his liking.
Ian frowned. He was sure, June’s nose will start bleeding any seconds, falling flat on your face always does that.
“Your hands look quite large but they are really soft!” June grinned.
Ian gave him a confusing look.
Why is the idiot comparing size and touch?
“We need to get you to the nurse room,” Ian repeated.
“I told you, I am—”
June never got to finish his sentence. He felt something thick and hot trickle down his nostrils.
“Oh—” June quickly covered his nose.
“Dumbass,” Ian muttered and pulled June up.
Minutes later June was in the nurse room with some tissues stuffed up his nostrils.
“You were right, I did end up with a nose bleed,” June giggled.
Ian gave June an unimpressed look.
Suddenly, someone came dashing into the nurse room.
“June!” Alicia exclaimed, “I heard you were taken to the nurse room. Are you okay?”
June grinned at Alicia.
“I am fine, Lia.”
“I was so worried,” Alicia said, as she sat down next to June, “ Do you want me to call Uncle or Auntie? Do you want to go to home? Or the hospital?”
Alicia and June had grown up together and she had always went to visit June in the hospital because of this a sense of protectiveness developed inside her which soon turned into love. She was the happiest when June accepted her confession.
However, both of knew June wouldn’t be around forever. He would leave the world sooner than everyone. It broke Alicia’s heart to even think about it. So, she always pushed away those thoughts and just focused on the happy things. Something she learned from June.
June shook his head, “Relax, Alicia. I am fine. I just tripped and ended up hitting my nose.”
Alicia didn’t looked convinced but nodded her head.
“I will bring you, your lunch here—”
“Oh no need,” June cut in , “I will have lunch with Ian!”
Ian who was just opening the door and leave the room to go have lunch, whipped his head to look at June with narrowed eyes.
But June was grinning at him widely.
“What?”
Ian and Alicia said in union. Alicia turned her head towards Ian and narrowed her eyes. Ian Wang was quite unpopular, he was known for his unfriendly attitude in the entire school.
“Yes,” June nodded, he hopped off the bed and walked towards Ian, “I will have lunch with him. Bye Alicia. Say sorry to Jeremy for me.”
Before anyone would protest, June grabbed Ian’s arm and walked out of the nurse room.
The cafeteria was crowded but June and Ian found an empty table. Ian continued burning holes at June who was happily eating his cream bread.
June looked at Ian’s tray and frowned.
“Why are you only having this soggy sandwich?”
“Mind you own business,” Ian muttered as he chewed on the sandwich.
June clicked his tongue and snatched the sandwich away from Ian and replaced his extra cream bread in Ian’s hand.
“This is much more delicious, try it.”
Ian just glared at June before biting in the soft bread.
“What are you doing after school?” June asked, “We can study together!”
“I have a work,” Ian grunted.
“Oh,” June said.
They continued to eat in silence. Ian who had bought a little lunch had already finished. He glanced at June’s tray and noticed he had much to finish eating.
“Do you wanna have some grapes?” June asked.
Before Ian could give an answer, June picked up a grape and stuffed it inside Ian's mouth.
Ian bit into the sweet fruit while he continued to watch June eat his lunch.
“You can pick them and eat from my tray,” June grinned.
Ian just nodded. He was bad with words. He was bad at making small talks but his throat was itching to get the a question out in the air. He cleared his throat.
“Who was that girl?”
Ian bit his tongue. He wanted to know what June wanted from him not know about the girl who was acting chummy with him.
June stopped in his mid chewing. There were crumbs of bread were over his mouth.
“Alicia?”
Ian nodded.
“She’s my girlfriend.”
Ian didn’t understand why but he felt someone punch him in the guts the moment June said those words.

He abruptly stood up and grabbed his tray.
“I am done.”
“Oh, wai—”
Ian was already walking away.
Still chewing June titled his head in confusion.
“I thought we were bonding.”
