"Sam! Be careful, oh my god." I peeked through my fingers. I, being the idiot I am, let Sam drive my car. I was super protective over it as it's my first. We were on our way to the Santa Monica Pier; living near Hollywood had its many perks. (a/n: let's pretend there's a huntington high around the hollywood area lmao)

"You're going to fucking kill us, I swear!" I shrieked as he swerved into another lane. He manically laughed, teasing me by almost swerving into an occupied lane.

"Then we'll die in each other's arms," He winked. My mouth fell open in surprise and I didn't hesitate to slap his arm multiple times.

"Okay, okay! Sorry, Lil." He laughed.

I playfully rolled my eyes, tucking my legs under my arms.

"What do you even have planned today, Wilkinson?" I rose an eyebrow.

He glanced at me and smirked, his focus returning on the road in seconds. "You'll see, babe. It's a surprise."

I scoffed, "Just tell me! I'm impatient, you know that."

"That's why I decided to make this a surprise," He chuckled. I rolled my eyes, whining.

Sam chuckled and pulled into a parking spot, tossing me my keys once we hopped out. He interlocked his fingers with mine, stuffing his free hand in his front pants pocket. He swung our hands back and forth, smiling down at me as we walked on the pier. It was cute to see him like this, all lovey dovey and not eating a different girls' face off after a week or two.

"You know, I've never seen you like this," I grinned, leaning onto the wood railing that overlooks the ocean.

"Like what?" His brows crinkled together.

"Acting all cute and boyfriend material. You're usually," I paused. "Well, you know."

He looked down, knowing what I meant. "Honestly, Lil, I thought that if I had asked you out a long time ago, it wouldn't work because of our friendship. That if we ever broke up, things would never be the same. I thought I could suppress my feelings for you by sleeping around and hopping from one girl to another."

"Hey," I placed my hand on his cheek. His head nuzzled into my palm, closing his eyes. "You know that'll never happen. I'd be heartbroken if our friendship fell apart because a relationship didn't work."

He smiled, pulling me closer. My hands rested on his chest as his arms wrapped around my waist. "I don't intend on letting you go."

"Alright," I laughed. "Let's go ride some rides!" I yanked on his arm, pulling him to the nearest line for a roller coaster.

"I think I'm gonna puke," Sam held his knee with one hand, his other holding his stomach.

"I told you not to eat that corndog before we got on," I sing-songed.

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," He rolled his eyes.

I laughed loudly, "That's what you get for not listening to me, Samuel."

"Okay, mom," He grumbled. "Come on, your last surprise," He paused, checking his phone. "Is ready." We had already gone through every ride here, played a few booth games, and Sam even won me a giant stuffed penguin. What more could he have planned?

"What?" My brows furrowed. "What the hell do you mean?"

Instead of responding, he pulled my arm to bring me into him, slinging an arm over my shoulders.

"I don't know whether to be scared or terrified," I teased.

"Ouch," He dramatically placed a hand over his chest.

I laughed, rolling my eyes. "Can you just spill what it is we're doing, now?"

"We're here," He smugly smiled.

I guess I hadn't noticed that we had come to a halt. My jaw dropped at the sight in front of us. It was a little cave around the corner of the beach. On the white sand lay a tapestry - one of mine, might I add. There was a picnic basket on top of the material, along with a garland of fairy lights hung onto the rocks' crevices.

"S-sam," I gasped, turning my back on the picnic to face him. "This is gorgeous. And the battery operated lights? How did you find them?"

"I had some help," He looked behind me, a smile still present. I followed his eyes and there stood Shawn, Serena, and Blair.

"Serena and I knew you had always wanted fairy lights, so we went out and got a bunch for this date and your room. Shawn took your extra tapestry from your closet, and then we prepared your lunch." Blair proudly smiled.

"Wow," I breathed. "Thanks, guys." I ran up and hugged them tightly.

"Okay, we're gonna go. We'll leave you two alone," Serena wiggled her eyebrows. Shawn smacked her arm, acting like a protective brother, giving Sam a warning look.

Sam put his hands up, walking over to me. "Come on," He pulled me to the cozy area as Shawn, Ser, and Blair left.

"Where'd you suddenly get the idea to bring me here?" I popped a raspberry into my mouth.

"Last night," He shrugged. "While you were changing, I called up Shawn and asked if he could help us out. Told me he got Serena and Blair to help out to make things go faster."

"Sounds like you put a lot of effort into this, didn't you?" I smirked.

He nodded, "Of course. I wasn't just gonna take you here without making it somewhat special."

We talked, joked, and ate for another hour until we decided to get going.

"Let's go eat and head back to get ready for Mike's party, part two." We laughed, and I agreed. We gathered up the lights, putting them in the basket, along with my tapestry.

I snaked my arm around his arm, and once again, his fingers laced with mine. I squeezed his hand, feeling content. This day has been great, and hopefully Mike's party goes well.

"You know, I can't fucking believe I spent $40 on those games," He groaned.

"Excuse me, I spotted you a twenty," I laughed, slapping his arm. Arriving at my car, I fished in my purse for the keys, throwing them at Sam.

"Hey I won you the penguin, don't make me take it back," My eyes widened, tightening my grip on the fluffy stuffed animal as I hopped in.

"NO!" I whined.

"Thought so," He smirked, starting the car.

Our drive home was not silent, whatsoever. I blasted songs after connecting my phone to the radio. We jammed out, earning weird looks from cars next to us. We told each other cheesy jokes, each one getting worse and worse.

"Alright, I have a cheesy pick up line now," Sam breathed in between laughs.

"Shoot," I giggled after recomposing myself.

"Do you know your ABC's? Because I wanna give you the fourth letter of the alphabet," He howled with laughter and I sat there a little shocked. I snapped myself back into reality and slapped Sam's arm - hard. Seconds later, we burst into fits of laughter.

"Ow! That actually hurt, geez Lil." He pouted.

I rolled my eyes and pulled out my phone. Scrolling down my contacts, I found the person I needed to talk to.

iMessage

Me: we needa talk, kinda important. be home in 15

I locked my phone, awaiting his response.

"Do you want to go home first and change? We can go there first and I'll drive home," I looked at Sam.

"Yeah, but I don't want you to leave," He pouted.

I giggled, "Boo you. You're a big boy, I'm sure you can wait until I come back for you."

He grunted, "Fine." And dragged out the 'i.'

My phone dinged, and I assumed it was Nate. I was correct.

iMessage

Nate: Yeah of course, you okay?

I replied instantly,

Me: im alright, I just wanna know something. but ill save that once i get home :)

Sam made a right onto his street, parking right in front of the driveway. We sat there for roughly a minute before he spoke. "I hope you had fun, Lil." He nervously spoke.

"I really did. It was great," I smiled wide. "Aw, you look so cute when you're nervous!" I bent over the console to pinch his cheek. He whined, swatting my hand away.

"You should get ready. I have to, too," I laughed. He hopped out, as did I. Sam backed me up against the passenger side door and cupped my face with his right hand.

"I can't tell you how bad I want to kiss you," He deeply breathed. My heart practically leaped out of my chest as I started breathing erratically.

Serena's words replayed through my mind, 'You and Sammy have been extremely close, even as kids...It was just a matter of time until you two got together.'

She's right. Our bond was basically inseparable.

Not even Shawn and I have a bond like Sam and I do.

Just let him kiss you, Lily!

"Then do it," My lips ghosted over his until he closed the gap between us. Our lips moved in sync, slowly. His free hand gripped my waist, pulling me closer - if that was possible. My right hand snaked behind his neck, tugging at his hair. He lightly moaned and I forced myself not to giggle. He bit my bottom lip, asking for entrance, which I denied. I wasn't going to cave in. He knows how much time I need. I may have given him a chance, but it doesn't mean I don't know how he plays with girls. Sure, he admitted he loves me, but I know Sam. He could easily throw me onto the curb and move on when he doesn't feel the same way anymore.

So there was no way in hell I was going to admit I'm falling for him.
