GENS POV
When Kiley came up to get me we headed straight to the kitchen. I kinda stood around for about 20 minutes till it was time to serve dinner.
She showed me what I had to do and walked away. I stood their for a while just dishing out food. Chubs came up got get food and when he took a good look and saw it was me he looked surprised.
"What are you doing serving?" He asked me. I laughed aloud and got a few started from the other people in the kitchen with me.
"Sorry." I mumbled to them. "I have a surprise! So I have to work to get it." I said to him. He smiled and walked away with his sloppy joe. I smiled to myself.
Zu walked up after him. She had a look on her face as if to say 'tell me please!' I shook my head and served her, her food. She walked away with a pout that I knew would soon be a smile.
After about 45 minutes later when the line died down and people were no longer coming in, me and Kiley went to work trying to figure out what we could make.
"Well we are about to have a lot of apples go bad since no one eats them, so how about like an apple pie, or like apple dumplings?" She asked.
(Apple dumplings are like pie crust covered apples only it's soft not like hard mast crust.)
"Yess! And we can put syrup on top?" She asked me. I nodded. That sounded amazing and I knew zu would absolutely die for it!
"Yes that's perfect! Ok does anyone have allergies cause we need a backup for them." I asked her. I didn't want anyone dying.
"No one has allergies, that we know of." Said a girl named Olivia. I just prayed no one did.
"Thank you! This really means a lot to not only me but all of the kids here tonight." I said to them and they smiled at me, but they weren't forced, they were genuine.
"Ok it should take us about an hour to get it finished so we need to start now!" Kiley said and Olivia and me walked out to inform all the kids their would be desert tonight.
Just like any other night everyone is by the camp fire. "Hey! Listen up!" I tired yelling but no one was listening to me.
"HEY SHUT IT!" Olivia yelled and they all shut up. I smiled at her and i could feel my face heating up so much. I didn't like being in front of people.
I looked around for Liam but didn't find him so I continued with what I was going to say. "So tonight, in honor of all the school kids, for doing so well and everyone's hard work, we made dessert!"
The crowd started cheering and clapping and a few of the younger kids were jumping up and down.
"Ok if your allergic to apples, pie crust, maple syrup, or cinnamon, please come and tell us how so we can make something for you! We are having apple dumplings!"
They all had smiles on their faces and a few more cheers rang out. I met chubs eyes and he was smiling, but it wasn't forced like I feel like he's been doing recently. He was truly happy.
I looked over at Zu and Hina and they were hugging each other and Zu looked so happy. She looked over at me and ran over to me and hugged me. She had a paper in her hand and it read 'thank you.'
I smiled at her and said. "Don't tell anyone, but this was all for you." And she smiled brightly. She pulled away and went to drag chubs into our hug.
He grumpily walked over and hugged me. "You've outdone yourself this time." He said and I smiled to myself.
"You don't seem too happy." I said.
He looked at me. "What? Me? Unhappy? No!" He said in a sarcastic tone. I laughed and he laughed too. Zu left us for Hina again.
"Where did Liam go?" I asked. He sighed.
"He said he was gonna pick up an extra shift, he said he was going to be down at late dinner." He told me. I smiled though. I could eat with him. If he comes.
"GENEVIEVE!" I hear someone yell. I turn to face Kiley.
" it's not gonna cook itself! We need your help!" She said this to me and chubs patted me on the back.
"Go get em tiger!" He said.
I walked off and into the kitchen. I helped them make the maple syrup glaze that goes on top and I gathered the cinnamon. They only had sticks so I went to making the actual cinnamon itself.
About 20 minutes later she pulled them out of the oven and she let them cool off before we plated them and added the toppings.
We called all the kids into the kitchen to grab me a plate. I gave Zu a kiss on her head when she grabbed her plate and walked off.
Then, when I went to give the next person their plate it was chubs. He had his head down and patted it. He wanted me to kiss it.
I giggle and gave him a noogie. He sarcastically gasped. Like he didn't know that would happen. He smiled at me and grabbed his plate. I shoved him forward when he walked off.
He gave me a quick glare and kept walking. I got a couple stares from some of the others in line making me heat up.
When I was out of dishes I went into the back to clean up. I wiped stuff down and put away the cinnamon.
When I turned around I nearly had a heart attack.
"God Clancy! Don't do that!" I said and playfully smacked his chest. He laughed and I could feel it ripple through my hand. My hand definitely lingered their a little longer than intended.
I took it away and got back to cleaning up. "What's up?" I asked him after a full minute of him just standing their.
"I just wanted to say I'm proud. You stepped out of your shell." He said to me making me turn around.
"Shell?" I asked and he nodded.
"I've seen all your memories. I know that your shy, and you hide away from people. Doing this helped you get out and step up as a leader. As you should be." He said to me
You haven't seen them all. I though. I smiled back thought, Not letting him see through me.
"Thank you Clancy. I guess I have you and my group to thank." I said and and he nodded to that.
"That was all you Gen" he said and walked to get some food.
It was around 10 and it was time for us to start cooking for second dinner. For the late night worked guards. We made them sloppy joes too and all we had to do was heat up the food. When they all left the kitchen and I was left to heat up the food I took the opportunity.
I scanned the room for any cameras and as far as I knew, Clancy only had them in the forest. I didn't see any and took my time trying to head it up.
I focused and all the sudden there was a fire in my hand I quickly picked up the pan of meat and put my hand under it. In a matter of seconds it was done.
I heard footsteps and I put the pan back down on the stove top. "Wow! It's already heated up?" Asked Kiley. I nodded my head trying to hide my excitement.
"What? Why are you so happy?" She asked me. Crap! Think of a lie quickly. I thought to myself. She was going to see right through me.
"Uhh if Liam shows up I was gonna eat with him. Is that ok?" I asked her and she smiled At me.
"Of course! You've been so much help tonight! You deserve it." She said to me taking my spot and told me to go serve.
—time skip
We were about to close and Liam still hadn't showed up. They were just about to close the doors when he came running in.
"Sorry! I got held up. Do you still have food?" He asked and a boy I didn't know gave him a plate. I grabbed mine and two apple dumplings and made my way to him.
"Little help here!" I said coming up behind him. He smiled and took a apple.
"Why are you here?" He asked curiously.
"I threw a 'surprise party' for Zu because of her grades. But I really threw it for everyone. I made these. All of this." I said to him.
He smiled at me and kissed the top of my head as we sat on a log by the dying fire.
"Your so sweet. No one deserves you. No one." He said to me and I couldn't help but laugh.
"You know why no one does?" I asked him and he looked at me as if to say 'go on'
I nodded toward the fire and he frowned. "No! Don't think like that! Absolutely not." He said and I told him to lower his voice.
"Liam! Lower your voice." I said and then I got excited about what I did earlier.
"OOH!...oops.... Uhh guess what!" I said to him. He put his finger on his chin obviously messing with me.
"Idk tell me." He said to me sounding bored. Ok now he really is messing with me.
"I cooked the food in seconds with my powers." I said to him as a whisper in his ear. I saw him shudder and then he stood up and pulled me into a hug.
I laughed. "I'm so proud of you Gen!" He said to me.
I cried silently into his shirt. He pulled back and cupped my face in his hands.
"What? Why are you crying?" He asked me his face laced with concern.
I laughed and cried. "I'm so happy! We Are all together, I'm gaining control of both my powers, and we are all safe!" I said to him. And boy was I wrong.
